I was reading through the forums when I noticed the TGC puzzle comp link above the posts, and after reading the rules immediately got to work on the coolest puzzle game (in my opinion, that is) that I knew how to program. After rigorous amounts of work I have a working puzzle game and menu system, although both are currently littered with so many bugs that I'm afraid to post a demo. Fortunately I have screens of what I've got so far, as well as a nearly complete layout.
GAME INFO:
This is a remake of the greatest calculator game ever - Block Dude. I have the TI-89 version called Block Man, but it's the exact same game with better graphics. My idea is to take the entire concept to the next level... 3D. Not only that, but I plan to have 11 levels including the practice level, and I've tried to code the game cleanly enough so I can do it without too much trouble. every two levels there will be a different area, such as islands, spaceports, haunted houses, and so on. I also am planning on drawing a few cut scenes in between the levels, becuase I like storyline, even if they don't contribute to the gameplay. One last thing is that in each of the levels there will be a golden key. this key isn't required to beat the level, but if you can collect all of them in one go, you'll get a password that opens up a cool place called block town. That last feature will be in the game depending on how much time I have. I don't know if this sounds like a little much, but I've alreadly worked out most of the game mechanics, so my hopes are that I'll reach all of my goals. Oh yeh, it's progammed in DB Classic
... sorry.
I almost forgot to say what the orgininal Block Dude was!!! Block Dude, for those of you who haven't heard of it, is a puzzle game where you're this little guy in a world full of blocks. You have to get to the exit of each level to progress, but in your way are many unmovable bricks. there are blocks which you can pick up on your head, which you must position wisely to reach the door. Each level gets harder and harder, and the game is very addictive.

This is a picture of the main menu. The large head follows your pointer, and is replaced by the corresponding text when you click on a button. Right now the head is an old mario one I made, but it will soon be replaced by Block Man's head.

An early Block Man model carrying a block on his head- the black backround will be replaced by different scenery in the final game. Also you can see a yellow block man spinning in the left corner. this will be replaced by a key.

Block Man near the exit door to the beta level (I plan on making this the second level in the game). Like all other graphics in the game, I will most likely replace this with with a better model once I build one.
If anyone has questions, positive feedback, or constructive critisism, I'd love to hear it.
I can't seem to be able to post screenshots... I'll try later...
