...alternatively, they could just email a Mod ( most of us say why we lock a thread when we do, and we all have public email adresses ) with an explanation.
We can discuss it for as long as it takes, reach an agreement in private, whilst he/she can still freely browse the rest of the forum, doesn't have to make a "But, Why?" thread, and there's no other users interfering with the discussion when it's done privately.
It's a good idea in theory. One post to explain something.
But in practice... No.
Pretty much, if a thread is locked, it's justified. On those rare occasions that it's not fair, then, sure, give a good explanation and we'll fix
our mistake. All is well.
