...alternatively, they could just email a Mod ( most of us say why we lock a thread when we do, and we all have public email adresses ) with an explanation.

We can discuss it for as long as it takes, reach an agreement in private, whilst he/she can still freely browse the rest of the forum, doesn't have to make a "But, Why?" thread, and there's no other users interfering with the discussion when it's done privately.

It's a good idea in theory. One post to explain something.
But in practice... No.

Pretty much, if a thread is locked, it's justified. On those rare occasions that it's not fair, then, sure, give a good explanation and we'll fix our mistake. All is well.

Jess.

-EDIT-
Oh i didnt see there was a second pae...i guess he doesnt look at this anymore !
--

Seriously Metel, Ive had two or three of my threads locked now...and each time it was my fault, i was trying advertise for more help with my project.
It boils down to one thing, rules are rules....like me or lump em there the rules and so far theyve done a damn good job at making this pretty much the best forum I know. Yes id like to ask people for help with my project more, maybe advertise in the 3D chat section but in real life i honestly belive there are some people who just need to be killed, but I cant because of the law...i dont agree that these scum are protected but i cant do anything because thats the rules .

The Mod's biggest success here is not going insane, heck i find it hard to not get banned by writing some massive stream of insults each time i see "i Wana make a leet mmorpg"...so imagine their position. Even though all these rules are up people just dont look at them, so the mods have to reply to the same crap over an over agin...so yeah maybe they do get trigger happy on the lock button but in that case just deal with it...evaluate your posts against the rules andif theres seriously nothing wrong repost explaining this...if you get locked then you know its you.

...or a trigger-happy mod (thinks of himself in the WC3 forums 2 years ago...) at least i learned my lesson, and thankfully i'm the only trigger-happy mod that I know...(then again, it's sometimes hard to tell who locks all these posts...)

[other person]"Force quit it next time..."

OR...

You could just trash this thread already. Completely useless and makes me have to move my eyes 1/4cm down to see a "good" thread on top.

This has reached its conclusion. If you disagree, you now know what to do

@zenassem,

To be accurate, the game should equip all mods with rocket launchers and the players with pea-shooters. The first guy I'll go for will probably have a wavy cloak ...
