Do what now? Unless they are injecting s**t into those Callipo lollipop efforts I seem to be addicted to lately, then no. Only the legal high that comes from the easy listening once mega-group Chicago. Oh yes...

I'm not sure what's more disturbing about it...
That the artist believes it's a serious peice of CG Artwork, or that the Lightwave Community is proud of it.

In terms of quality, I'd say it was a great character and it would'nt go un-noticed in a mini-series or something like that, it's not even the sound or animation that makes it annoying, it's the sheer volume of advertising that thing has behind it. I mean, it's better than a lot of the professional CG work out there.

Did anyone watch 'Rogue Farm'? - that was some terrible CG with a terrible cartoon shader - and that's supposed to be the work of pro's. The futuristic farm vehicles looked cool, the characters and animation looked very amateur.

nope didn't see that.. personally I found the 'Crazy Frog' to be more of a college quality animation.

Something I'd expect to see from one of my students a few years back. There is absolutely no need for the Frog to have a dongle. (especially not lit up like that )

While sure it's a good CG in terms of overall quality, the entire animation is very immature and just quite frankly irritating.
I don't like the song at all though, it just grates on my nerves.. it's the sound byte; I hated it when it first was released and I hate it now.

I'm also getting totally [censored] off with Jamster. Through Enterprise last nite had to sit through THREE of thier damn adverts in a single break. They were all the same too.

It's all the damn work of that sodding chick and frog too! Providing them with enough retards thinking it's cool to give them enough money so they can afford to advertise thier low-brow adverts on a channel that, personally I'd consider high-quality viewing.

I don't know if others would agree with that, but generally speaking SkyOne never gets all those hundreds of personal accident lines, or insurance brokers etc... The only adverts you tend to get (atleast at reasonable viewing hours) are those that are as high-quality as the programs they're accompanying.

Not to say I like adverts on the whole, but I sure as hell prever adverts from Direct Line; or Ford.. rather than InjuryLawyers4U or Ocean Finance (every sodding person they inteview is like 600lbs! c'mon!) where they seem to have spent like £100 budget on it.

Just ticks me off.
Though on a more positive note I saw and awesome amature CG about 2 weeks ago; i'll post up the link in the 3d section, but it was awesome.

I need to start doing my 'Expos3D' threads again, where I show a site of some talented artists every week. Was fun doing that a few years back.

I thought the tadger was unnecessary too - my son has a frog sweatshirt (I did'nt buy it for him!), and it's nowhere to be seen, the frog looks a lot better without that thing, or the black censor box for that matter.

I think we watch similar channels Raven, because my TV is infected as well - and in the most unlikely place, Discovery Channel. Back in the day, Discovery was aimed at intelligent people who wanted more from the TV than just entertainment - nowadays it's mostly reality TV and cheap adverts, just like every other channel.

Sadly true. Still you can get away from them on the UK channels, like Gold and History.

god bless the Beeb on cable heh

I can honestly say the Discovery Channel down here is not like that at all, we still get the interesting programmes and the 2 ads every 20 minutes only ever advertise other Discovery shows. Although I dread the day where it goes downhill, how long do you think we have?

Sky+. Ah.... Good old super fast forward. I pretty much record everything just so I can fast forward the ad breaks. If I accidentally watch anything live then I think the remote has broke when I try to fast forward. Nooooooo!!!....

Apparently one of the PVR companies in the US (probably Tivo) came up with a decent method of avoiding the ads that worked with any channel. Was something with it analysing the sound apparently. The mag said that adverts use cunning sound gubbins to make things a lot louder, even though the volume may be lower. Notice how these days you are constantly lowing the volume when the ads come along, then raising it somewhat when the program starts? Anyhows the software detected the advert from the sound, and basically skipped it. Apparently a judge declared this was illegal and they had to stop it! Cripes. Also heard somewhere that companies are investigating subliminal ads on the sly. I mean it's illegal sure, but what if I constantly used x30 speed on sky+? At some stage a normal advert with a certain rate of flashing messages (that isn't illegal at normal speed) would suddenly become subliminal at x30 would they not? Hmmm. Another of the companies also said they were looking into showing an ad while you fast forward. So you start fast forwarding, and all the ads are a mess, but the top right hand corner shows a small ad for KFC, for example. God....

Cheers

true.. while adverts are good in the fact they provide channels with the funding to go on, on the other hand I like how the BBC works.

Part of the TV License money you pay goes towards thier funding for the TV, Radio, Website. So you get relatively good quality TV without adverts required for funding.

I think advertising is begining to get truely out of control, and it is probably a matter of time before we have something like Minority Report where it scans your eyeball to give you a personalised advert.

Advertising Pop-up, Low-Quality Banners and DNS Stealers.. really ruin online life now. Not like it was a decade ago.

This would sort of be fine if it wasn't for the fact that I rarely watch BBC these days. I mean we are talking about a couple of comedies here and there. Considering there really is only 2 channels (the rest are repeats, or a scam to let you watch new comedy that should have been on BBC1 in the first place and makes you feel slightly better about digital TV when BBC1 are at the same time showing... repeats!) then the price is just too high. Fair enough if more quality TV was being shown, but if anything (thanks to reality chavtown sh*te) it's getting worse.

I read somewhere (Stuff or T3) though that if you live in the UK (ie. a licence payer) then they are going to do a website that allows you to watch repeats of programs from the BBC channels online. Tops. They also want to increase this to work on mobile phones etc. Apparently it's really going to hit the fan when ADSL2+ comes in (once the UK catches up with Sweden etc and stops bloody testing it). ie. nice completely live TV at Hi-Def resolutions through your web link. My 2Mbit connection will be dust by then Hmmm. Tempting to see 8Mbit in my area for a good price. Think I'll keep with NTL for the minute though; I've had my main email address since about 1995, so feel a bit sad to lose it Heh, found my old Uni address was actually still working up till about 2002, but then got deleted (created in 1991). Sad day...

Yeah, I agree.. but programs like Spooks and Doctor Who are great.

The problem is more the fact that while our Licenses can afford a little, they just can't compete against channels like C4 and ITV(they're still called that right?) because advertising generates quite a bit of revenue.

I watched BBC quite a bit in the 80-90s when Star Trek, Red Dwarf and such were on. It's nice to have channels on cable that still show them.

Still it would be nice if the BBC could get a show like, Stargate or Dead Like You; before SkyOne let alone the terrestrial.
That said, for the most part I don't mind SkyOne's advertising.

I practically live on SkyOne, Paramount, Cartoon-Network, Nick, and Discovery

most of the other channels just suck.. and my TV watching as certainly dropped quite a bit over the years. Actually I'm begining to like watching Online-Flash series now.

Like Homestarrunnner or Neurotically Yours

I think over the next few years as internet speeds increase for everyone; Online shows will become much more popular. The fact that you keep them going with direct donations or merchandise, means a site survives based on how good it is for the target audience.

Heh.. Foamy cracks me up. (for quite a few reasons)

Yep. Although take away the cartoons and replace with Sci-Fi. Can't remember how many times I've watched Father Ted now. Although Paramount could do with changing their schedules a little. I mean how long has it been Ally McBeal & Sex and the City every night at the same time? Plus they repeat them again like an hour later. Paramount 2 is a good idea, but a Paramount +1 would also be an advantage methinks.

Hurrah. Sometimes the same ad is on like twice in one ad break. Grief. I absolutely believe that this is some sort of alien test. Basically get all the Chavs to buy the frog tune, then they will all be trampled and hunted down by all normal humans. The aliens can then land safe in the knowledge that all Chavs had been wiped out. After all, lunatic killers (ie. us) is far better than a land of Big Brother loving, job avoiding, multiple child welfare loving, cap wearing, tracksuit loving chavs... full stop.

That reminds me. Before I got *seriously* busy I meant to get back into comics (used to love them as a kid). You always need more time when you grow up... Did a bit of getting back into game books (must have about 50 from when I was younger) a few months ago, so now I think it may be time to allocate a new(ish) interest. Hmmm. Wonder if I can any Usagi Yojimbo from town today, or perhaps Teen Titans (as mentioned). Used to like them.

Oh, and lately the only online thing I've seen is http://www.empiresq.com/ which apparently is on TV too. Very funny. Although a bit South Park +1, so careful there kiddies. You can build your own building to add to the community as well. Oooh, you can play the sh*g a crack whore game to win a PSP!...... Heh, is actually quite amusing. Especially the "G" special manouvre....
