Don't worry, you'd feel even more pathetic reading Harry Potter and the Snogging Prince.

Hehe, there is a lot of snogging in the last one isn't there? On another note, after rereading the 5th book I've noticed that ron wants harry to go out with ginny--"Ron cast Harry an oddly furtive look"--in the last scene in the hogwarts express.

That's interesting. I'm doubting if she's truly into it anymore.
The snogging (first time I've heard that word-hysterical) is ridiculous. She did a good job of making the whole thing emotional enough in the first one.
Though she is keeping with the hormone development theme very well, making him go in stages.

I listen to them on CD. I like how Jim Dale reads them. He's very good at it.

I refused to post in this thread untill I finished reading it, and I did. Yesterday at 2:32am.

I must say, this so far was the darkest book in the series. Dunno how we went from reading about a wacky wizard who goes to a magic school and gets into trouble with his friends, to a book about constent murder and backstabbing. Esh. Kinda sad at the end yes, and I knew Snape was a Voldemort whore the whole time.

As for my opinions...

I enjoyed the book, but I'm going to reserve full judgement on some of the more annoying parts until the seventh book. hopefully that will clear things up. Also what's interesting is how the books have evolved from being children's books to adult. I guess it just happens as the darker parts of the story continue and Harry grows. Oh, and as for "snogging" (*LOL*) What the heck?

Snogging was mentioned in at least the fifth book "sirus comments on kretcher: "althought I'm pretty certain I saw him snogging a pair of my mum's drawers" And I'm pretty certain it was in the fourth one too...

Quote: "Kinda sad at the end yes, and I knew Snape was a Voldemort whore the whole time."

After rereading the sixth book and working my way backwards through the third book, I'm still not certain that snape is indeed a death eater. Remember the unbreakable vow...? Couldn't he have just made that to stay on the death eater's side, not really intending to kill [deleted]

If you break the unbreakable vow, you die. So if Malfoy failed, Snape would have died, which is a big giveaway to Dumbledore. If everything worked out for Malfoy...then again, it's a giveaway that Snape obviously helped him. Even if Dumbledore told Snape to spy on the Death Eaters, this is going to far, and would have made it clear who's side he was really on.

It tastes like strawberries.

How much says she doesn't stop at 7? I mean honestly, it's making so much money.

Hay I am no mindless drone, I have reed Fahrenheit 451 and love it. My teacher is friends with Ray Bradbury and we talked to him on the phone in class. Try The Chocolate war, its very good. It is not by Ray Bradbury and it is not sifi but its very good!

Fahrrenheit 451...good book. Read it twice. (also enjoyed 1984, but never got to anthem).
As for Snape, I'm happy someone else thinks he's not a death-eater. He had to kill Dumbledore due to the unbreakable vow (and the fact that Malfoy couldn't have done it himself), and if he didn't make that vow, the death eaters (who already didn't trust Snape) would have gotten rid of him right then. Snape, being as he is, was in a tight spot the whole time. Also, he would have to run at the end (note how he never hurt Harry, but actually protected him during his escape) because he killed Dumbledore, and everyone was after him and Malfoy.
This is what I think, I may be wrong, but we'll just have to wait and see...

I agree with you there Joe Cooning, he didn't even try to knock Harry out, just blocked everything.

Got the book in Vancouver. Same cover as the uk one, without the imagination-ruining chapter pictures you get in the US ones.

Much much better than book 5. Ending perhaps a bit rushed. The death at the end definately wasn't what it seemed.

Grrr me hates those. I'm always looking at the back of the movie dvd cases to remind myself that Harry doesn't, indeed, have a vacant expression on his face. Cover art is a little experimental too, I mean com'on they might have tried to make Flur a little more pretty in the fourth one

I thought they explained Dumbledores hand having something to do with previous Horcrux's he was looking for.

Dumbledore scorched his hand when he touched a Horcrux within an amulet.
