Doing things on the computer isnt very healthy. What do you do for fun thats active that keeps you healthy. I personally run on most weekdays and hike on weekends.

Well, for health i do pull ups, sit ups, and push ups (so many ups o_O)

but as far as physical hobbies go, i make chainmail...play DDR, play teh piano (ok not very health inducing) and occasionally go water ski-ing

I dance about at legal raves (very appropriate for the other post we have going on at the moment), not under the influence of drugs. I race level 3 stock cars sometimes (currently a mashed up 306) but normally in the pits rather than on the truck, which is quite healthy cos you spend a lot of time sh*tting yaself and trying not to get run over. I'm also heavily into my RC now. Here be the badbwoy:

That's quite active as it does 50mph, and I spend a lot of time crawling into bushes whenever I jump it into places man has yet to venture. I've also removed the reverse gear to speed up the transmission which is assume, except you can be happily sitting on the road, but facing a wall, and you have to run over to it just to turn it 90 degrees. Embaressment.

Here's a vid: Revo with TM323 and geared for acceleration 40/16 (DivX 5)

Bit of a petrol head I suppose.

I run(8 miles today ), lift, swim, bike, play basketball, ultimate frisbee, baseball, and generally any sport.

It's definitly a good idea to get out every once in a while, or at least stretch every hour.

Destruction derby would be awesome. Just make sure you buy a bitt for ya teeth and eat a sturdy breakfast. As for that vid, it should work, I just tested the download myself. Make sure you've got DivX 5. A bit of a pain, I know. I'm gonna aim to encode WMVs from now on - I have no love for MAC.

Wow thats pretty impressive. Shame about the quality of that file though, its sort of hard to hear. I can hear that its certainly something very difficult to play though. Can you actually play that piece?

Ya I play basketball alot too. And 8 miles all in one shot is pretty nuts by my standards.

@bigAdd: I will get a gym soon but im not sure when it will open. My dad is part of the Phoenix police department and I might get a free membership if hes willing to give me the hook up.

I do a lot of mountainbiking, probably around 40 miles a week unless I'm cycling to work (in which case it's closer to 80). I'd probably do more sport if I had the time - been meaning to buy a punchbag set, but that would be more for stress relief than excercise .

I read that very very wrong the first time....

I do some running with my dog around 10 every night... I also punch a speedbag every once in a while. And I also do some drumming...

I shoot some hoops with my dormies a few times a week, play dorm-sports twice a week ( This semester it's Touch Footy, European Handball, and Indoor VolleyBall, last semester it was; Soccer, Touch footy, Basketball and Netball! ).

Other than that, I don't do much, except walk around the shopping center, and occasionally pump some iron.

*shrug* I'm very, very unfit, putting on weight ( which is a bad thing, cos I'm a skinny guy! ), and generally not lookin after myself

Starting a diet type-o-thing this week, and gonna start jogging I think, and maybe swim, or play squash, etc.

Jess.

Then I kick the block back under my bed and sit down at my computer.

You gotta excercise at some point - I mean it's not good for your joints to sit all day and night, it'll take no time at all for RSI and back problems to creep in. Keep your joints strong and suptle and you'll have far less problems.

If you work in IT then come home and sit at a computer then a bit of excercise does the world of good, even just a walk to the shops is better than nothing. I find it helps concentration to take a break and disapear for a few laps on the bike (there's a lot of tracks here, but my fave is a park with an unused motorbike race track all the way around; about 2 miles long - they stopped racing there because of the regular fatalities, it's perfectly safe for bikes though).

Having just come in from a smoke break - amen! Although I did encounter a wasp in the conservatory, so spent 10 minutes trying to batter it with a pillow. I think that constitutes todays exercise and should've helped the RSI in the shoulder.

Most of my physical activity revolves around motorcycling. Might just be a blast through the country on a Sunday or a trip to the track or a 70 mile run to Derry if my back is up to it. I also do a bit of dirt biking, which I am starting to get really into. Its not as hard work as riding my sporty machine and it hurts a lot less when you fall off. At least I’m assuming it does, I can’t afford to fall off my sport bike to find out.:0)
Used to ride a mountain bike a lot too but the gear system at the back locked up and mangled itself, luckily it deposited me safely on the grass. Must get another one, they rule.
Oh, and I spend about half an hour a day chasing and being chased by my ferret Jordan, named after the F1 car not the model, she loves a good chase, the ferret that is.

I know what you mean, sometimes I spend something like 4-5 hours on my PC. The funny thing is, when I get up to stretch or go somewhere I feel like I've just been RUNNING for the last several hours even though I've been sitting in a chair. I'm not overweight, and in pretty good physical condition, but that thought scares me.

Inline skating, basketball, gym, long distance running

I'd say I'm in extremely good physical shape. I'd say exercise is the most important factor in happyness - it brings along with it confidence and self-image-improvement - which are both important too.

I used to play Basketball and Volleyball, until last febuary I blew out my knee, and I'm still recovering...so for physical activity, I was doing Physical Therapy up until last week...now I just walk over to my friend's house

I work 13 hours, 7 days a week. That's not including my 3 hour commute. I have no time for anything.

But when I'm not working so hard, I go for walks with my wife at night, play badminton, and I used to play more hockey. I really need to get into something, though, but with this work schedule it's near impossible.

I get home, eat a quick snack consisting of some salty trail mix or cheese nips and some juice, then i go run for a little over a mile. Then i weight train for about an hour and a half. All in all this takes about 2 hours (inluding snack and shower). Then i eat supper, then watch tv/study/play video games/waste time on here.

really? Last time i heard, The Rock trains for about 2 hours a day, at least. and he eats A TON of meat. I am not saying i am a body bulder at all, i just workout, unlike you. By no means am i huge, just healthy. What do you know about weight lifting anyway, if you get worn out from sitting in front of a computer. Think about it, in between every set, you should rest 45 secs to a minute as to not tear the muscle. Now if i do roghly 60 sets(thats about 20 different types of lifts, because i do 3 sets for each one)at 45 secs each - thats about an hour and a half max, and no less than an hour and ten min. or so. (granted i may take a five min break or 2 to get a drink). If you believe the infomercials that you can be a world class body builder by working out for 20 min a day, you are sadly mistaken.

P.S. when the hell do you think i have time for dbpro and this forum, i play around with them in between sets.

P.S.S. i also forgot about the warmups, even though i stretch before i run, i do again before i begin lifting and inbetween sets. Warming up can take a good 5/10 min.

You do realise he does other workout activities? He doesnt do 2 hours a session of benchpressing.

You did get that I was joking when I said I'm not sure if Martial Arts is a physical activity right? Otherwise I'm gona have to think you're idiot. (Hey, the lead community MMORPG coder already got a noobie slap here...so I already think you're an idiot. Sorry.)

That's a good one right there. Are you saying you workout all day long?

Please, read your post from my perspective and you'll see just how ridicules it sounds.

is that honestly your idea of weight training? You dont just bench press, i dont even do that as part of my normal routine.
Quote: " already got a noobie slap here"

I got it because i was dealing with idiots like you, feel free to read it on the word association thread.
Quote: "That's a good one right there. Are you saying you workout all day long?"

Hell no, i am talking during the school year. During the summer i workout when i have time, and pop in here through out the day.
Quote: "If you were ANY kind of weight lifter, you'd know that you CAN'T workout everyday."

Wrong again megaton, you can work out everyday as long as you switch routines. Basically have 2 routines that you do every other day. As long as you dont do the same thing every day it is perfectly safe to workout every day.

You are sounding pretty idiotic acting like you know more about working out than i do. The only thing you know about weight lifting is probaly what you learned in your physical education class.

P.S. how old r u?
