And then I go an approve it... Oh well...

As for why, I cant say (and did you have to e-mail me about it?), but I suspect a few of your posts were deemed offensive.

I emailed you because someone said, why don't you email a mod, so I picked a random mod, and emailed him, just had to be you

Actually...something I said if misinterrpreted can be redeemed offensive, if its what I think it is, its in the A-team thread...that was playing on what Soapyfish was saying on how to lock the thread, he insulted jesus, I hesistated, said which mod should I insult and insulted the lot and jesus, to play on the irony and joke, nothing serious, then again sarcasm/jokes are kinda hard to pick up on the net, I'll be more careful/straight forward next time

@Megaton 2down 28 more to go? Eh? I don't understand

Which means one of two two things - either the mods newb slaped you for insulting them or Jesus did. I reckon it was jesus.

heh.. Bouncy's popular recently.
as far as I'm conserned, some of the moderators need to be replaced with more responsible members of the community.

with the newbie system I can't see the need for so many moderators anyway. and a restructure so that there is one moderator who takes care of an individual forum they hang out in; would be better.

this is very much out of the fact that prior to 3 months ago I've never even so much as been cautioned on my behaviour (Rich does have direct contact with me and has been free to tell me to calm down at any time) ... so to now have a combined total of 10 bans and newbie slaps in the past 3 months alone, really should show how trigger happy moderators currently are.

DavidT thinks I'm just being whiney about it, which frankly damn straight I'm going to bitch about this. Recently my behaviour has actually been one hell of alot more restrained than it has in the past; now to be slapped and banned for the most pathetic things. The last one was purely because I didn't agree with Mouse (Ian T, or whatever the hell he's calling himself these days).

Personally I wish that I could be backed on this by some others who've also mentioned to me they think a number of the current moderators are going overboard, or doing things because of thier personal opinions on people. Not sure that will happen though, so it'll just look I'm crazy and rambling on my own once again; having a problem with something that obviously isn't there, because it happens to me the most.

I know I walk the line, and sometime cross it... but I don't recall anything that deserved the treatment I currently seem to favour from a number of moderators.

It's actually been a while since I had to do any real moderating, I find myself more likely to move the odd thread and approve the odd post. We need mods though; that are here quite a lot and can stomp on any nastiness that rears it's head when needed - before it was a problem when there would be a troll attack and no mods to tidy up, now we have a lot of mods and a clean forum because of it. There's no clause saying that if I don't abuse my powers twice a day I can't be a mod anymore! - most of the mods here find very little to moderate, but it's a matter of stomping of the really nasty stuff, not maintaing a world beating post approval time.

I do get tired of people assuming that we should post like moderators, as if telling some newbie straight is gonna worry anyone - frankly jab a moderator in the ribs here and there's no protocol for what the mod does in return. I'd hate to see a mod abuse their powers, I'd much rather see a mod telling the numpty where to get off and not hearing all about it through email and gen discussion.

It's fine to complain if you've been unfairly treated, but I must say that I've never looked back and thought 'damn, I really should'nt have done that' when newbie slapping or banning, and I imagine most of the other mods are the same.

This seems like a good place to vent about my newbie slap.

I said Cattle Rustler sucked, which is probably fair enough reason for a slap, but he did start the problem by implying I was an idiot because Windows and my hard-drives happen to crash on there own.

I think I've gotta agree with Raven, maybe that's just me tasting sour grapes, but I think it's a bit unfair I got a punishment because I insulted Cattle Ruslter (very weakly and with a touch of humour too) after he insulted me first for little reason. He's a mod after all, he shouldn't do that.

You know, it's interesting how they discovered that trait about the T-Rex. See, when discovered, the T-Rex fossilized jaws always had a different dinosaur in them. Dinosaurs that moved. But never once did they find a rock or a tree or a volkswagon in the T-Rex's mouth, because those things don't move.

good point Peter....I thought you were gonna say they were monsters...

Question; How long do newb slaps last, its getting a wee bit too annoying, and I am sorry if I offended the mods if I think the reason I was slapped was for that reason, I should be more careful when joking and being sarcastic, especially when including Jesus and the mods. Soz for that...

The A-Team thread is a prime example of why the new mods are , in general, just plain wrong. I don't mind saying that there are a few that I think are great and have improved the forum environment ten fold. Just to prove my point though...

Some new user made a thread, in the title they said it was a useless thread and that's just what it was.

Exeat (a mod, in case you didn't know) posted this
Can someone lock this already?!

And then later posted this
Could someone please lock this post right now, god damn it? Quickly, before I start killing things!

David T posted this
although, please somebody throw an insult or something so it can be locked...

So I posted this
Jesus loves satan
Jesus is satan
Satan should kill Jesus

And Seppuku posted this
MODS ARE FAGGOTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I admit I was immature in what I did, but so where Exeat and David T and I think as a mod it just doesn't make sense to go round doing that.

Of course, NO forum user should do it, but I bet there are a lot of people on this forum, especially new users who aren't used to the place, that look up to the mods, much more than they do other users and as such the mods should set an example. Which some do, but a lot do not.

I'm not saying either David T or Exeat are particularly bad mods, I'm just saying that I thought what happened was a complete mess.

Jimmy, on the 23rd of this month, some of my cousins were here. For the first time in ages I was actually outside all the time in the day, and barely used the computer at all. I've some real fun with them this past week, and when I came back on these forums, I realised just how empty the internet is in terms of social interaction. If I could, I wouldn't use the computer anymore, but I use it because there is not a lot else to do, and it is very lonely here when people aren't staying over.

What I suggest you do, is go do something away from your computer, maybe try and have some sort of social life, and stop posting annoying comments about something that means so little in the real world.

It includes Ian T, but doesn't extend only to him.
I have a few things to say about his name change as of late, but it's likely even mentioning his name in a post that could be construed in more than one way could end up with some Newbie Slap or Ban again.

Quote: "He's been a good and responsible mod. I think you two are just prejudice toward him for his age and conflicting opinions. I'd also bet you're pretty jealous of his position."

He slaped me for disagreeing with him on Google Talk, which btw he claimed was 24hrs in his post yet after 36hrs I had to ask Mike to reset it for me. That to me isn't responsible behaviour; the new moderators were draughted because of a given period and number of inccidents.

Since then Davey has provided internal forum systems that prevent a majority of spam; while those moderators were a requirement 6months or so ago, now they are no longer really needed in order to keep the forum ticking over nicely.

With the current moderator powers and forum features, the original moderators could probably quite easily handle the work-load once again. No offense to all of the newer moderators, but the older moderators have shown time and time again far more restrain towards people.

You know because there is less to do doesn't mean you have to create or invent new things for you to use your moderating powers on; believe it or not the entire point in moderation is so that users learn what is and isn't acceptable; not turn the forum into your own personal territory.

Quote: "Yes, or let me rephrase that a bit:

If you either dislike the atmosphere or the members you know where the log-out button is. Feel free to use it, I'm sure you can find somewhere you would prefer to be.

Maybe you'll have more luck staying in the PlayBasic forums with people who seem to have the same obsessed ilk as yourself.

That's just the thing, Ben. You were the last person I expected to see complaining about mods on an internet forum. But I believe you did so solely because you dislike Ian, thus compromising your own indifference about something that means so little in the real world.
