Hello again.

Well, now I have learned about WIP posts and everything, so I have as you know put my other game off to the side for a little and I am now starting two new projects: Streets of Sim City and SquareCircle Systems.

The game here is a remake of Streets of SimCity, one of my favorite games I have played in the 90's. The game follows the story of you starting out just as a learning driver driving your Grandma from place to place not knowing she is working for the CIA to crack down on a secret mob organization that is trying to invade SimCity Centeral. The first mission is basicly a tutorial on how to do the basics in the game and it kickstarts the game with the mob connections in the mid-80's.

Once the first mission is complete, you get straight into the story now 10 years later with your grandma at her death bed because of the mobs poisoning her water. You are now out to avenge her death in underground deathmatch racing to raise money for yourself and kill off the criminals organizing the mob. You earn money by killing others and winning the races in the second mission learning more about the mob and the CIA's plans.

The third mission gets you into the plot of the story where the mobs are actually running the law enforcement system in SimCity in 1998. You are to crack down and expose these Dirty Cops to gain the CIA's trust and to expose the mobs to the public. Types of levels in this mission include protecting certain entities, investigation, and deathmatches.

The fourth mission is basicly a continuation of the third mission, but this time fighting rouges and former CIA agents that are trying to destroy SimCity for power over United States of Sim. Your job in this mission goes against all rules as you get kicked out of the CIA for cracking down on the agents. You are to destroy everything in your path, even the newly enstated good police.

In the final mission, it is war. The Sims are fighting against the evil agents in this new war in 2012. You are leading the Sims in the revolt to restore the USS (United States of Sims) to what it once was. This mission leads to the most exciting parts of the gameplay in the entire game. At the end of this mission, you unlock the RPG mode in which you work within the city larger than any UT2004 map (1024x1024).

I am trying to put in city mode which is online multiplayer with 256 people at once in the city fighting, and then deathmatch and coop multiplayer modes.

Right now I am working on the basics of the game. I am making my own editor for the game that I hope will work out. The editor can do terrains, place objects and give them names, do lighting to be calculated in real-time in the game, add entities, and save/load with a load function for dbp.0

I do not have a good HUD system. At first I just put the car health and stuff like that. Then I changed the text to black and put Streets of SimCity in the corner of the screen, and now I took it out completely to redo it in time. I really have bad bullet graphics, and I am using car models from DM1. What do you think:

All those green boxes doesn't look good...

But I like the terrain a lot! I can imagine myself purchasing 3D World Studio in the near future

Keep it up!

Thanks. The green boxes will soon be replaced. They were supposed to be grass, but that did not turn out right, so I will be making that much improved and adding trees too. Right now, the game offers the following:

-3 experimental levels
-2 enemy types
-3 civilian cars
-package dilivery system
-4 pickup types
-Main screen
-Experimental deathmatch multiplayer

I am going to try to add a garage in which you can upgrade the car that you have to fit mission specifications such as adding nitrox, hopper, missle launcher, military radar, smoke screen, and much more. I want the game to resemble Streets of SimCity, but I need a better name.

The terrain and the grass looks like something made in 3dws. The way the grass aligns with the terrain also looks like 3dws. But the terrain can't really be used in games, since you aren't able to save or export them yet So if the terrain is made in 3dws, these pictures are false.

Gamedev, mind sharing with us the editor you used then? It all just looks like a 3DWS scene to me.

Gamdev - Are these ingame shots or are they from a different piece of software.

The terrains looks like 3dws(I think i've said that some times now), and some time ago he asked how to scale his car models from darkmatter in 3dws...(On the Cartography Shop board). And those cars are from Darkmatter.
As Megaton Cat says, I would like to see the editor too.

To me they look like terrains from Hamishe's editor... because of the transition between textures and those textures are in his... oh yeah the names Multiscape isn't it... But then again I haven't used 3dws much because I don't have. (But from what I've seen at my friends it's a huge leap from Cshop.)

No, those fields of green cubes are unmistakably the "Paint Mesh" feature from 3D World Studio.

Nope, believe it or not, I am not using any editor, I have designed my own. I will get you some pictures of the editor in a minute or so. You can see I made them with my own editor.

I advise rather than saying that, just wait until you can post pic, as it should only be a minute later.

Comming. You know, soapyfish is right. I do not have time to just reply to threads and it has only been a day. Right now, I want to work on the game instead of just posting. You know what happened last time when I was just focused on posting.

To clarify some questions:

1. Yes, the screens are in the game screenshots of the game.
2. I am using my own editor in which I will get you screens of when I can upload today.
3. When 3dws comes out for final release, I will change the game to load maps from there.

I do not mean for this post to be an angry bash, or an excuse to start a Flame Festival.

To be completly honest, I do not trust a single screenshot that comes out of you anymore. You have lied in the past, posted fake screenshots, been lazy, and generally not very productive at all.

I just want to actually try out a demo. A actual compiled peice of DBP code, where I can move around and see what you have completed.

I am not a paranoid person, but past experiance has made it comes to this.

So maybe a demo? Doesn't have to be big, or full of fancy features, just a car driving over that nice landscape you showed.

Thanks

EDIT: And for future note, pleae do not post things like "kk demo up in a min" or any other empty promises that you have never kep. Just get something ready, ZIP it, upload to server, then make the post. Thanks again.

if you made a matrix that smooth(The matrix build in dbpro), it would barely run. Because it would simply be too high poly. A demo would be nice, as Megaton Cat suggestet. But of course i could be wrong

Just send Megaton the current build via e-mail, so he can confirm this game is real (assuming it is). I hope this is real, and for the record I believe you, so please don't let me down.

I've never played Streets of Sim City, but I've heard it was a great game from some of my friends.

@Megaton, Crazy & other flamers: Sheesh. Give the guy a break, why don't you.
Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but I've always believed in "innocent until proven guilty".
You have precisely no proof Gamedev is faking the screenshots,
just as he has precisely no proof that he isn't.
Anything in this world -even the most real-looking screenies- can be faked by almost anyone.
And as Gamedev himself said, there are plenty of legitimate reasons not to release a demo.
Don't jump to conclusions before you have the facts to back it up.

At least Gamedev went through the trouble to make screenshots to show (legit or not),
which is still a far cry from the "5-minutes-of-thought MMO"'s we've gotten in the past.

@Gamedev: As Bizar Guy so eloquently said,
Quote: "I hope this is real, and for the record I believe you, so please don't let me down."

And I mean it. I'll break out dual flamethrowers if you make me a fool. So don't let me down.

Modelling apps are like spaghetti: the only way to find the good stuff is to throw everything at the wall and see what sticks. ~Me

is it me or is it warm on this thread.

just curious..but with the amount of flaming on this whole forum i think its an idea for a game.
join a forum and see how long you can last b4 megaton flames you lol.

i think megaton has a point,if gamedev has mislead in the past then why should anyone believe him now....all im saying is i saw this thread but i wont hold my breath for a result. i know how hard it is to put things together but thats also why ive not posted anything about any projects im working on.

@gamedev

I've been working on the fire and have almost some basics made for it already just use play object if you need to play the animation built in to it e.g

if object hit(1, 2) then play object 3 else stop object 3

Yes, once. Look, these are legitiment screenshots, and I will have a build for you either today or tommorow, and it will just be a basic car driving around terrain. Nothing much, but just to show you some of my work so far. I have changed over to heightmaps.

Mr Underhill. If you read the other threads started by our host you will see why people have their doubts. I personally can't see the point in posting wip on projects that are a matter of days old but thats my non important opinion, and seeing as I am a 'Villian' I'll leave it at that
