Nintendo's new controller http://imagesn.picsearch.com/is?1763000932034
What the hell were the controller designers doing when they thought of making it like that?

Now i dont want to buy any gameing system. Just rather stick with my xbox since they are still going to make games until 2007.

Firstly, old news. Secondly, I think ti's the best controller, since, well ever.

If you want to be boring and EA-ish and just use a normal controller, you use the standard controller shell that you plug the revolution controller into. Bingo, you have a normal controller.

However, if you want to use the new controller, you take it out of the shell and you have the new controller. Voila.

Personally, I think it'd be amazing for FPSes. Imagine looking by moving the controller, and strafe moving with the joystick attachment.

I think it'll be great. And the gamecube controllers can be used with the revolution right? If so, nintendo haven't exactly risked much now have they.

have fun doing that... Don't give something a try because it's "different" and "new" and something you have never seen before.

Like David said, i think they made the controller this way for several reasons and the FPS players is a major one. I dont know about most of you but i hate playing FPS's and 3PS's on consoles because i find it annoying aiming with those analog sticks. With the mouse it's just so perfect but damn those analog sticks.

I hear Ubisoft (i think) is making an FPS exclusive for the revolution just because of this feature and i'm sure many other developers will follow suit. I won't be suprised in the near future if people prefer playing FPS's on the revolution than on any other console.

Apart from FPS's i can imagine others that feal too awkward holding the control pads and playing games (people that feel their too old for things like that for example) just sitting down in the living room, picking up the remote and playing with it quite easily. The controller would kinda guide developers to making more gender and age inclusive titles... in other words towards innovative and creative games for everybody.

Whether or not if it will work remains to be seen.

I think, since it can be used as a mouse, that they should make a new version of Mario Paint. Man, that would be awesome. Maybe it could export to flash video, and you upload it onto the memory stick.

I love the way nintendo are going, instead of just upgrading your console with faster parts, they are actually doing something new. what I can't wait for is the next star wars game, hello saber fights!! and metroid will be damn awesome. As for it's control with platformers, heck lifting the control to jump sounds mad! what i hate though is people who go "oh xbox360 is better cause its normal, the new nintendo controller is stupid they shoulda made it normal." yet they were also teh same people who said "Oh mario is crap, it's all just the same stuff just with better graphics."

Srry about this post i guess i should of used the handy search button first well i am srry about that wont happen again.

I am just really disappointed in all of the new systems. I never really liked the hand motion controllers like the donkey kong drums so i thought that remote thing would be a bad idea too and i havent really read up on xbox360 or ps3 but what i have read so far wouldnt you just be better off playing games on the computer since now u have to buy ram and other things.

Nintendo are great, and care about quality for the game in the product and are not completely power hungry, like microsoft with XBox, well for those who disagree with me, the XBox 360 has just been released in the US, (UK in a couple of weeks) and people are finding them glitchy, so really they released it too early, to get most of the profit, but still needs work on most of them.

Revolution and Ps3 will be my buys, never an XBox, unless Microsoft get their buts into gear

You do realise all of Nintendo's 8-bit consoles first released in Japan had to be returned to the factories due to faulty processors, right?

so why didn't microsoft learn from that and decide to make their xbox 360 crashproof? I mean think about it, they had to release for christmas, with the amount of hype they are giving for this machine they'd be insane to release it just after christmas.

big companies are too dumb, when it was mentioned earlier on this forum that the xbox360 was going to be out before Christmas I mentioned the previous debacle with the Amiga 1200 when they rushed em out for the Christmas sales, same kinds of problem too, power supplies catching fire and overheating problems, they just seem incapable of learning even the simplest lessons

Exactly. Nintendo called the first few systems back, rather than produce a few tens of thousands and let them swim around for a while.

Nintendo knows what they're doing.

I'm a pc gamer and have never even been interested in consoles. But the revolution promises to be cheep, quiet, small, completely wireless, defining of backwards compatibility, and well, revolutionary. I think I may actually buy the Revolution.

And honestly, I've been saying it to my friends since the release of the ps2; I could care less for great graphics. When presentation and game play overcome great graphics in the gaming market… that will be a truly amazing time.

Have you ever tried playing one of those crappy DVD video games (Dragon's Lair comes to mind). They use the DVD remote and they're, well, craptastic. This remote TV "game controller" had better be able to do the dishes and make me coffee.

Maybe so, Jeku, but they don't use motion sensitive actions as the Revolution games will. And Dragon's Lair? Ugh. You're comparing the Revolution to Dragon's Lair!?

Yeah, I reckon the Revolution'll be great. Just think... control Care Bears with a remote!

Really, though, it'll be good. This'll open up a world of oppotunity (Wha!? I've forgotten how to spell!) for Nintendo, let's hope they pull it off.

revoloution will be AGM compatible Pai mei

I sitll can't believe there are people complaining about the controller, you pussies be acting like you've never used a lightgun before!! in a fps game its just a gun that you plug a joystick in for movement. in other games its a mouse.

What, so you want to use a lightgun to control a platformer? Lightguns are good for only one type of game--- shooting games.

I would give my eyeteeth to dev for a Revolution and its new controller.

Honestly, it opens up a new world of interaction possibilities. It's all up to the developers now. And we know First Party Nintendo stuff is usually ace - I just hope that the non-First get some 'lovin' too.

Any console is only as good as the games that are made for it. While I'm desperately excited about the possiblities of the new Revolution controller, if it's not put to good use, then it may as well be scrap plastic.

I find it quite frustrating how some people have this OMG attitude to the controller, personally the way I see it, Nintendo are the ones pushing the envelope, and I hope they kick some ass with their new technologies.

We've waited years and years for more intense and involved gameplay, yet the first signs of that are simply pointed and laughed at. But keep it up, I don't want to have to wait 6 months before I get my Revolution, the 360 can wait, so can the PS3, it's the Revolution and it's 'daft' controller that I'm looking forward to. Or is everyone bowled over by what the 360 and PS3 can do?, myself I'm a little dissapointed.

Gimme gameplay anyday, that's what Nintendo do best, let M$ and Sony make the pretiest games, and let all the poser-gamers snap them up like so many trained dolphins. Frankly, in my house XBoxes get stripped down, chipped - they're disposable commodities like Ford Escorts and portable TV's, and that's just the way M$ and Sony like it. Won't it be nice to have one littler console with lot's of new gadgets and games and ideas.

yeah thats what I did with my box, its a computer, so why not let it do what a computer can do, makes it a useful thing to have then.

Quote: "What, so you want to use a lightgun to control a platformer? Lightguns are good for only one type of game--- shooting games.

there was a light gun with a dpad on it, and that would have been fine for a platformer, frankly i like the idea of the wrist flick to jump, and 3rd person games will run fine as with it, i'm just hanging out for zelda and star wars, sword fighting!!

The new pad is going to be awesome, I cant wait to try it out - I have high hopes for it. Maybe it will turn out just to be a gimmick, but meh thats down to the software houses not the hardware - they've been given something magic to work with, its upto them to work with it now. If they implement it right it will be awesome.

Also, turn it sideways and it becomes a nes pad, thats freaking awesome on its own. and im pretty sure for those who prefer it there are slots for the GC pads so you can use those if you prefer and im sure plenty of other people will release various types of pads for the rev. What we have here is innovotion and most importantly "options". People shouldnt sneer at this, it can make the rev great.

i think the nintendo revolution controller is awesomely sweetly pwnzoring...

and i don't really care if the XBox 360 or the PS3 have way better graphics capabilities... a game that looks good but plays bad is just as bad as a game that looks bad and plays bad.

Who cares if we can see every tiny hair on that ogre, the games for the XBox 360 and PS3 will just be clones of earlier games.

and no i'm not a nintendo fan boy, as far as "first" generation consoles go i only bought the XBox. But now i'm seeing that nintendo is going to have the only inovative console out there...

psst.. xbox came in during the third generation consoles, not first xD (and if people want to start getting picky about console generations actually starting prior to the nes/ms etc then im calling those alpha consoles so blah!)

The revolution will be plenty pretty enough. Hell, for that matter, the GC can push out some sexy graphics itself. Soon console graphics are going to get to the point where people are arguing like my oldest brother and my Dad. My brother was a complete audio nut and would rip apart stereos and tweak them to perfection with expensive gear etc. My Dad whos an audio lover (rather than Nut, everyone here is musically inclined) would do simular but always said my brother goes too far. My brother would spend ALOT of money on expensive chips for the audio boards and ages tweaking something that my dad would do for half the cost and my bro would bring out his equipment which measures levels and all that and say look at these results, this is better than yours and my dad would be like yeah, ok, but that level of audio detail is beyond the range of human hearing so whats the point?

Console gfx's are gonna end up like that very soon. People will be arguing about specs that they dont really notice when playing. For the record, my bro is a perfectionist and still would tweak audio to perfection even if you cant notice and liekwise people will do the same about console gfx for no reason except.. well, perfectionism i guess.

But this brings us to the next turn in the argument which is if graphics are THAT important to you, my PC wipes the floor with all the consoles so swivvle on that punk. *shrugs*

Yeah, games like Pikmin2 really make the GC shine, some of the water effects on that kick any XBox shader into touch. The GC must have some nice gfx hardware, it does refraction and reflection really neatly and damn fast too - it must be hardware supported (rather than solely through a shader).

I'm a little peeved that RE4 is no longer a GC exclusive, considering you can get a GC for about £15 these days RE4 probably sold a lot of GC's. Still waiting on a better game than RE4, let's hope the Revolution get's a sequel to that.

I just don't understand how people can shout from the rooftops that the Revolution will kick Sony & MS' butt, when really all we know about the Rev. is that it's got a funky controller and it's backward compatible. That's IT. The only reason I can see purchasing a Revolution is because of Nintendo's historical past with quality games.

didnt know about the free wifi mp out of the box though, that IS awesome. Just like with the DS, excellent.

hmm, wonder if they will ever make a game you can play on ds and cube and connect to the same multiplayer hub? o.o

In my opinion it´s the only must have game this generation-which is the 4th generation by the way. What´s this about 1st and 3rd? Honestly an you call yourself gamers...
I hope the controler is friendlier on the wrist than the average remote. Or ninty are in trouble. They´ve got to add more buttons to it though. It´ll great to swing Link´s sword but how do I unsheaf it with 4 buttons!

I could care about consoles because obviously PC kicks all their asses.
But I was shocked as I was watching the NEWS that the Xbox360 had cd reading errors and games wouldn't load, etc.
It really proved why my Grand pappy hates MS...
They have some good software sure (like Visual C++) but they're power hungry, then again what big buisiness isn't?

Now before I loved PCs so much, I was a nintendo fanboy.
I would definately like to play Pikmin 3 if it ever comes out, Super Smash Brothers is always fun too.

I was intent on getting a 360 just cuz it sounded really good...but then I read the newspapers lol. Tons of glitches, and for $400 its really not worth it. I saw a commercial somewhere for the rev and it looks really cool. Before halo i was a nintendo fanboy, then halo wore off rather quickly, and im back to nintendo. Giving up on consoles because of an option that you don't like is silly. Thats like throwing away a game because a crappy mod came out for it :p

Um... That is why they made it so they can have infinite different attachments...

Look. Based on Nintendo’s reputation and their confidence, I have little doubt that this will be a spectacular system. Will it be as great as I hope? Almost certainly not. But I'm also certain that Microsoft and Sony have just missed the boat in next-gen consol race... I find it funny that most people don't even mention the Revolution when talking about next gen...

Look at how the DS is kicking the PSP's ass to get an idea of how much new game play mechanics are valued.

Just wait. I can just imagine being able to play every generation of Zelda games on one consol... Think about it. The Revolution will come out with the largest number of available games on any consol, ever. If you don't think that's at huge deal, consider that gba sales haven't been affected at all by the DS or PSP, most likely because there are like over 700 gba games, not to mention all the previous game boy games that run on it.

...I think that speaks for itself.

Well, we know for certain that the Xbox 360 exists in tangible form :-P

A tangible, disc mangling, powercord-burning form.

Seriously, I played 360 at Game Crazy, played Kameo and Call of Duty. Kameo was cool, and Call of Duty was alright. But there was nothing special about it. I may as well have just went home and played my regular Xbox. There was no special feeling from playing it. I got that feeling from playing the first Xbox with Halo, but while Kameo is awesome it doesn't fill the need for a killer app. Microsoft has the best overall lineup, but none of the titles are killers, and there's nothing cool about the console itself. This whole Xbox Live gamercard thing is just another way to make money off the trend of increasing popularity in weblogs and online community profiles (MySpace, Xanga, etc.).

I'm going to eat you!
