I just downloaded DarkEdit and I can't even type in a simple print command and I get an error when I go to compile. It says " Cannot create file c:\My Documents\DARKEDIT.TMP." Thanks, Brad

Have you set the Dark Edit program options (Edit...Edit Options...Dark Basic Options)?

That happens here too. You need to save it first somewhere.

That's strange - I can type code into the DBC or DBP editor and run it without saving it first.

How do you set where the Darkedit.tmp file is put then?
I haven't figured it out, and my computer won't let it make the file.

Oh! I changed the default startup directory and it works now. Go to edit options, Darkbasic options tab, and change the default startup path to somewhere besides the my documents folder.

Indeed, if you're on Windows 2000, NT or XP by default your 'My Documents' is in C:\Documents And Settings\YourUserNameHere\My Documents\. If DarkEDIT's trying to save in the non-existant 'C:\My Documents' folder, then the error would make sense.

I always change the default to C:\Documents... I hate going into more than one directory just to get to my documents (I don't like using the quicklink under Desktop) and I hate all that "MY" this "MY" that junk. Yeah it's mine... I don't need my computer to tell me 24/7.
