I didn't want to post after Eddie's comment. I guess that's because the time when we really 'talked' was when I went through my depression. As lame as it sounds I went through a few months of depression (nothing serious now that I look back, but I was close to suicidal) but I never lost hope and now am quite happy (well thats a lie, I'm still pretty unhappy. but I'm much better now and find thinking positive really does make it all go away)

And as for the dude guy: empathy? I'm guessing you are no more than 17 years of age and don't have much to whine about yet. If you want to get through the badness (which I hope you do), listen to the song "Winning" by The Sound and/or read the book "Touching From A Distance", which has a movie form in the works.

No one knows what something is like until they actually feel it. And no, I\'m 5 years away from being 17, but you have no clue how the hell it feels to be me. I have enough crap to deal with, people saying s**t about me is not making it any better.

I was 12 during my depression too. Second half of sixth grade. Surprised someone so young has attempted suicide so many times. If you'd like I'm available to talk to. It's just that I finally looked at how petty I was being, getting caught up in the crap of American adolescence, but I'm past worrying about that and just being happy with myself and would be glad to talk to you

I couldn't even finish that video. It was lame and the music was worse. There's only one thing you need to know about EMO, it sucks!

The only thing worse then emo's are "Hardcore Dancers", you know, those people who when you go to a show they just punch and kick air for a couple hours because their high class suburbian life is to stressful for them to deal with?

Long story short, a few came to a Death Metal show I was at the other week (underground local band), everyone kicked the sh*t outta them, ya know, with actual punches, one that land on their face and body, not air, and tossed em on the street. The band then went back on the small stage and started playing again...

Another local metal show next weekend (as an opener for a backyard wrestling match), oughta be fun, haha.

I totally understand the depressing feeling you can have in highschool. People tell you that it only gets harder when you have bills to pay, wife, kids, etc.

Well let me tell you that high school was, and is still the hardest part of my life. Therefore if you're in high school now, and are feeling suicidal and angsty about the future, because all the counsellors and "adults" are telling you that it only gets harder, well don't believe them.

Once you get out of school, have a job, and become independant, things get *easier*. Sure, I now have 20-odd monthly bills to pay, whereas before my parents paid for everything. But when you have that comfortable feeling of being able to relax and look back at the high school crap that you had to go through, you feel good and glad that you didn't make the ultimate mistake.

My two cents.

high school was hard socially but, hey, im in college and most of those bastards are still in high school. so when you see them you can deliver a nice loud "IN YOUR FACE!" and laugh at their stupidity.

whoever tells people it only gets worse needs to be shot, stabbed, left to heal, then shot and stabbed again. My very best friend, has bouts with depression, and she only thinks it gets wores from here on out, and i try to believe the opposite, it only gets better as you get older, try not to dwell on the things you literally can not change, but instead focus on the your goals and ambitions, and how happy you'll be when you reach them

I agree that life is better when you get to the higher grades, high school and college sound a hell of a lot better than middle school.

High school is MUCH better than middle school. In High school you get spares. And their pretty lienient(sp?) on attendance. I'm not losing any of my credits and I've been late and/or absent for the large majority of this semester. It's a slackers paradise. But whatch out if they start getting cocky. They tried to introduce a punishment for tardiness(I was the first one to try it out ) but it was eventually ignored by everyone anyway.

My anti-depressant is tardiness and intimating people(fun for the whole family)... maybe that was too much informaiton.

our school is the worst for tardiness, you get ONE warning, then the second time is a 45min detention, and the third is an automatic referal the to principle's/dean's office, and it goes on your....dun dun dun.....permanant record....and then after that you start getting into suspension talk

Its not metal... its emo.

Metallica (avatar) is metal, they play GOOD music.
Unlike emo bands.

*on soapbox*

All rock music with loud guitars is "metal" its only the annoying 8 year old mini metallers who specify it as spearate styles of music, the kind of person who'd say Busted & McFly were pop and Blink 182 and Good Charlotte were punk rock, actually from a musical point of view, their songs are very similar, and they all write and perform their own music. Therefore it comes down to image. Many such people would classify Marilyn Manson as "hard" whereas actually to those in the "know" manson is about the softest "metal" you can listen to, probably with Cradle of Filth being higher, and bands which you can't even vaguely get any lyrics or music other than thrashing and screamng as more credible still - its madness. "Emo" bands are playing very similar music in substance to many band who aren't classed as emo, its just down to personal preferance and beliefs to classify such similar bands into little categories, many of which boil down to the kind of clothes they wear, what record label they release on or what guitars they play. If you have a band with 2 or more people, writing and performing their own music, with electric guiatars and drums based upon "rock" origins, its "metal", regardless of them how society seems to try and split them appart as to whats exceptable by different social groups. Its comparable to rappers from LA shooting at rapper from NYC because their music is better, or Take That fans fighting with Boyzones fans. All equally stupid, regardless of whether its about "cool" music or otherwise. Do what I do, listen to everything and make up your mind what is good without listenning to other's opinions - judging it on the quality of the lrics, musicianship and how original it is, NOT on whether it clasifies as one type of music or another - you'll enjoy a wider spectrum of msuci that way, and won't get stuck with social groups who think one bunch of people "suck" and others "rock" - it makes no sense at all, people are entitled to like what they want to. Thats coming from me, a professional music producer with years of experience in and around the industry, with many, many different styles of music surrounding me constantly and who personally listens to about everyting except boybands who only do covers of old ballads. And even then, if they do it well enough and do the original justic, I can still accept that people are entitled to like it

*offf soapbox*

Christ no. If you want to stop being depressed don't listen to/ read "deep" or "intense" crap like.

Listen to Bottle Rocket by The Go! Team or watch Finding Nemo or Spirited Away, The Simpsons.

I have no idea why people keep telling me to enjoy my life now as later I'll be crying in my sleep from paying bills. Well guess what? I LIKE paying bills. I'm earning money, I'm independent, obviously I have to pay for an apartment like all other people. There's no fun in childhood that you can't experiance when you're an adult.

The book is about Ian Curtis, singer of the infamous band Joy Division, and how his suicide messed up everyone around him. And lets take the chorus from the song...

"I was gonna drown
Then I started, swimming
I was going down
Then I started, winning"

Ask CR. He's not even a depressed emo kiddo and he said it was uplifting

I don't think you understand. If you're depressed you shouldn't try some massive emotionally heavy, uplifting thing to overcome it.

You don't need some massive revelation or whatever to be happy.

That's why you should listen to The Go! Team, it's something that is absolutely, undeniably and unashamably happy. It doesn't make anything out of overcoming emotional hardship it just is happy. Same deal with the Simpsons.

If you surround yourself with Emo stuff you'll end up all Emo. It's pretty f**king obvious.

Wrong, in most countrys it's illegal for adults to run around naked or in dipers(only), and jump in mud,sh!t, other bodily droppings, etc.. Of course in some countrys that is considered sexy.
