Here's something I just drew in Physics. (That's why it's on crappy lined paper)

Anyway seeing as I don't have anything written atm it might be a good thing for you to practice the old art skills:

Good stuff, that's the style we'll go with.

So I guess we better start? Can you draw up model sheets for two characters? Stuff like poses from several angle and hand gestures. I'll handle facial expressions as that stuff needs to be made from scratch.

Maybe I should start a new thread for this?

Wow I love Copper it has the nicest tone ever. Some of those larger tiles are amazing.

I don't have a scanner here and I can't be bothered to go down to school atm so I'll do those pictures tomorrow.

I'm thinking two teenage school children...

Sounds good.

And yeah, Copper's style was very inspirational. Here's my attempt at thieir level of shading:

The pic you posted is good, but it isn't Copper style, or colouring IMO. The difference between Red, and flesh is too great (The contrast) The image has too many straight lines, not curves.

However, your style is good, more like The Incredibles than Copper.

And it's supposed to have straight lines, as I spent a while getting them like that.

I'm not really an artist, nor do I consider myself one. I just like dragging vector lines around. I really like to see personal style in digital art, that's why I prefer the silly roundish style of Penny-Arcade over even the best art in the world.

That's just me.

VG Cats is the best of them all, although I think Penny Arcade and Real Life Comics are close runner-ups. But they're still not quite as funny as VG Cats =P

VGcats is good, but is only updated once a week, and has not quite maintained the same level of quality for as long as PA.

(And saying PA is a runner up to VGcats is quite stupid as the VGcats FAQ says that VGcats is based on PA)

Here's a site that has a few laughs http://ubersoft.net/. Makes fun of Microsoft tech support.

When you said shading, I thought you meant colouring, and contrast. So I replied to the colouring, and contrast. Otherwise, I'm not sure what you meant.

Most artists would agree that you should try to develop your own style, however, taking influences from other art shouldn't be discounted for the purpose of originality.

Here's a pic of a pretty decent looking character.

The style is fairly CAD/PA, except the eyes have no whites รก la Real Life (I think).

Might have to try a few different ways of colouring/inking, not sure what thickness of lines to use where.

Here's another head shot, with a different emotion and clothes.

I'm sure you could quite easily whack a body on it.

One last one, or though I was running out of time in the lesson and the teacher was catching on so it was hurried.

Mouth is wrong I think on the second one there. Maybe it's the outside eye... I don't know, just doesn't look like quite the same person.

I like that pose.

Don't worry about the facial expressions - I will have to draw them myself from scratch.

Keep up the nice work.

Do you mean me or you? It doesn't really matter how thick the lines you make are as I just trace right over them...

I meant you.

The eyes might look crap with a skin colour behind them...

Just did a quick test in Paint and it actually looks fine.

Did you get a chance to vectorise any of those?

Having abiy of trouble vectorising that...I think it may be all the rigid straight lines.

Isn't there a straight line tool?

I got the trial of Flash and played around with it for a bit. It seemed the easiest way of doing it was drawing it quite quickly with the pencil when it was set on ink or smooth, then adjusting the nodes. If you do it quickly you should only get about 4 nodes.
