For all we know Kang's mum could live an hour or so away and not have access to the net. But I've not spent any money, so I obviously don't see it in the same light as those that have."

I agree, I don’t know Sam personally, but he seems to be a stand up Geezer, but there are a lot of unanswered questions, and I would have made a very small email, and mass mailed it to my customers, with an explanation and forecast when the software can be used.

Stories vary. Usually something to do with lots of hardware failure. He then had to ask TGC to honour his commitments he couldn't fulfil - and then it sort of goes blank.

It's safe to say RGT went kaput and we haven't heard of him since.

He was a pretty decent bloke back then. Of course, we had our run ins but the overall impression I got of him was that he was working v hard. I remember a topic where he gave everybody the link to the UPS tracking page tracking the shipment of 100 copies of DBPro over the atlantic.

It is a shame TGC doesn't have a USA distribtion partner of some sort, postage would drop, as would delivery times, oh well.

It took me 6 months or so to get my DBPro from GuyS because he was waiting on the manuals being printed. Sorry, but the sensible thing to do would have been to send out the copies without manuals, then send the manuals later, regardless of costs - that's the thing with IT folk, we'd rather just get on with it and worry about paperwork later .

At the end of the day, you bought an EA licence for some software online - whenever you do that your at the mercy of other peoples bad luck, live with it is the only thing to be done. Feel free to explain how he promised etc etc, but that's fruitless - nothing anyone says here will make any difference to Sam, I don't think anyone here would act differently in the same situation.

Imagine, your told your moms sick, how far away is this forum from your concearns when you hear news like that?

Thats quite right, wasn't the Zelda supposed to be released last month?

Exactly what I ment, for a start, people don't actually know where his mum lives, and how far away it is from his house, if I had to go visit my nan because she was ill, I wouldn't be able to go onto TGC until I got home, as the journey is 3hours long, you never know it could be the same for him, he has been contacted and he has given his situation, and thats all we can rely on, what more can you ask for?

Don't ask, I just have to put my friends duck in my sig

Sorry for the long post.
I will start this thread by saying, I hope Sam and his family have to endure no more health problems, I really do.

For the EA buyers who supported this project, I need to say in their defense: It has been over 2 weeks now since we got a news letter from Sam regarding Quikly, We all have got our CD’s that don’t work, and that’s why I think most people are a bit Pissed.
There was a delay in the postage of our disk’s to begin with, Sam had began not to reply to questions on the Quikly Forum, then when he did, he told us that the delays were because, his wife was sick, then Sam himself became sick with thyroid problems, after that his son became unwell, Sam had computer problems, but got a Laptop, and told us all should be ok from now on.

We then got a email telling us that the web site would close, for two weeks, but we would all get emails with the software downloads when he sorted it out, he even put on the temporary web page that all orders were for filled, this is not true.

We are now told that his Mum is ill and he will be in touch in a week or two, but has not replied to any emails, or posted any excuses on any Forums that I am aware of.

He should upload the software so his customers can get what they paid for, if it has bugs, I could open a bug section on my forum, on his behave, that he could monitor, and reply to, when things at home improve, it doesn’t take more that an hour to address these issues with his customer base, and put everything right.

As I said, I sympathize with Sam, and know his passion is programming, I also know he would have been on these forums and checked them over the last few weeks, and never replied.

I think we are not being told the full story, I think this may be out of embarrassment, or fear of angry reactions.

Lets take one possible scenario, say Sam’s hard drive went down, and he never backed up his software, (stranger things have happened at sea) and he was too embarrass to tell us, I would wait until Sam got back to programming another Working version, but I would like to be told.

Anyway, as I have said before, I am open to offer any help I am able to, but Sam, you need to start by getting in touch, and letting us know what’s up.

All the best for the future.

Actually, we bought an EA license for a hard version of the software. The online download was a bonus that we had asked for. We had absolutely no idea that the entire program would need to be downloaded from his server with our CDs

doesn`t sound too good, I have seen this sort of thing happen online before in other forums, some people keep the legend going and I think they often even convince themselves, then it all gets on top on them when they realise they are going to have to actualy produce something, some just freak out when they realise they can`t deliver so they do the digital equivalent of the Ostrich with its head in the sand, change their online name and ISP and then pretend it never happened (who? me? not me guvner, I`m new here )

of course that doesn`t mean that this is what is going on here, but just a quick post, 5 mins out of a day, isn`t impossible, or justa quick call, and how come no runtime on the CD?, just how advanced was this demo that was being touted, was it some stitched together bits of code?, or was it something that actualy produced results?, maybe it was more dream than reality and he`s scared he`s gonna get into trouble cos he can`t deliver, seems odd to have so many problems in one family, more like excuses than credible reasons, those sorts of reasons are ideal since anyone questioning them is going to look heartless, I would be suspicious.

Dr Frankenstiens mum told him to make some new friends, not knowing where this was going to lead.

It's hard to say anything when the reason for absense is family problems. Statements can come back to bite you in the ass.

All I know is that when I had extreme sickness in my family, and it was my responsibility to take care of things, it was very hard, but didn't occupy every minute of every day. If I'd had a commercial product that I was forced to delay, I'd have taken time out to keep people posted, and make progress if at all possible.

That's just me. I wouldn't want to change my name. I'd have to come back as something like "URgammerMaXX", and there are only so many ISPs available to the military on Okinawa. And by that, I mean there's only one.

I agree - serious illness in the family is very bad news indeed. But you've still made a commitment by selling a product online, and it's a responsibility. But lets hear Kangaroo out when he returns before we jump to conclusions.
