Exactly, those names are FAR too generic to all happen to be mod names

I guess you get to a certain point on a forum where you just, well.. grow up? and needing a cool sounding pseudonym is no longer a requirement.

Oooh CR, Richard pwnt you. JK of course.

Of course using words like pwnt isn't really showing much on the "grow up" side from my part. From now on I will be known by my real name Frankfurter Hasslehoff.

...well its better than Englebut Humperdink, anyway.

Dunno. My name is infact, suprisingly really quite boring. Although my forum name isn't exactly amazing either.... I would actually change it to my usual alterego name (Crivens), but I have used this one for half a decade now (august 2000 -2002 is new forum dates- I believe), and don't like to change things.

On the other hand it doesn't take a genius to work out my real name is not, say, David. For instance. And could probably take a running jump at the first letter of my last name, say. Or I could be lying and actually be called Sally.

Cheers

I am 99% probably lying in bed right now... so don't blame me for crappy typing

I guess all people smell. I mean, after you reach that point in life where you need deoderant, you start smelling. Since adr hasn't reached that stage yet in his life, he doesn't smell I guess.

I hate when people on MSN have song lyrics instead of names.

People are given names for a reason, why have a different name for forums? (Aside from safety, I guess)

Safety, I guess. After a while I'll probably just switch to my real name, but for now I'd rather just leave it Bizar Guy... Maybe I'll switch my forum name once I make a game with Bizar Guy in it (the guy in my sig).

Some people thinks it makes them cooler. If you have a naturally cool name like Benjamin, then it is not necessary to do such a thing..

Kidding. But forum names can be more unique because you choose them yourself.

I imagine some of it has to do with percieved identity. You can't tell what someone calling themselves Adrian will be like, but you get a feeling for what someone called ===UBERXCODER339=== will be like

It's like clothes for online - wear scabby clothes, and unfortunately people will treat you differently. Have a different online name, and people are instantly making judgements on who you are.

Personally, anyone with 'programmer', 'newbie', 'DB' or 'ultimate' in their forum name makes me wary of their posts. Sad but true.

So - short version: I use Tinkergirl because it's COOLZORZZZ!!

(No, really.)

It is annoying when people do that on MSN as well packing them with smileys and longs messages like 'DwLUV U NEEEEESSSSSSSSS!!!![(h)(f) You rule, yeh baby I am a freak!!!!!!!!'

I call myself something else basically I like to have something as my identity that is differant to the one I have in the real world, I think just seeing 'Bryn' instead of Musashi or Seppuku Arts is just boring, as long as names are original I can understand why people use them, but stuff like 'No1 Matrix Fan' or something is sad.

I let my avatar do the talking, since if you hadn't already guessed, my name is infact Adrian.

What you've got, is someone who looks a bit pissed off, probably because he needs a good night's sleep. He could also do with a shave.

I'm perpetually "almost presentable" and I think my avatar reflects that nicely Although, my new job's requirement to wear a shirt has bumped my presentability to "adequately satisfactory".
