@TDP Enterprises:
I was refering to myself with that second part... I happen to keep a large amount of CD's. The thing is now they have either broke, been lost, or I burned the data to a DVD and threw it away (I am for keeping the data more then the original disk).

Now as for my comment about kids age... given that he appearantly never had windows 95... and probally not 98 either... that makes him 6 years old. Give him an extra 5 years due to memory and it is 11.

The thing is that I am now ashamed at the fact that an person close to the age of 11 has learned of piracy. But I support the message behind it.

Software companys do tend to over charge for some products. Take Winzip, 30 dollars for a extraction program, main benifits being that of split zip files (file spliter) and an easy command option menu (Registy Entry). Plus the fact that it unzips at LEAST twice as fast as the windows version does. Uhh, okay, stay with windows.
Well, with downloads reaching the gigs... that 2x feature really starts to nag you. (assume that you don't look for other decompressers) the price turns you down imensly, but the features encourage it.

They cared about a little thing as MikeRoweSoft.com strange that they haven't taken down http://ie7.com/ yet. I would believe they would love to make a martyr of this guy. Mess with Microsoft, no matter how small... you get squashed.

P.S. I haven't checked the links, but the person who posted them, check back in 3 weeks (by then it will be over). I have noted and told people over and over, EBAY IS NOT CHEAP. So what you found a new auction that starts at 2 bucks, what matters is the end price, and I have seen 98SE go upto $80, originally starting at 9.99.

@Three Score: lol, I thought they fix that bug... either they put it back or they really are crazy. Now I don't blame them for their price... can't program a decent exparation method... might just send in $60 as charity.

Here is the source code for Windows 2000, which shouldn't require too much work to reverse engineer into 98 or 3.1.

On a completely separate subject. Does anyone remember that game egg in Excel 95 (I think?) which was a 3D Doom-esque walkabout? That was cool.

Did they even HAVE laptops? I remember the hard drive in my old machine was really, well, big (weighed like 5-8 pounds, covered in rather thick steel/iron)

I guess if you booted from those new fangled 3.5 HD Floppys mabey you could have something...

You are welcome. Next time instead of going through the hassle of talking about piracy and "real" downloads, just type "I've don't something bad" much faster reponses.

Bongadoo, lol...

It was my understanding that since NT, windows didn't run off of dos thus could not crash to dos prompt.

I think that was more because it sounds like Microsoft. Don't know if they can do anything about ie7.com as it's not internetexplorer7.com ---

I *believe* it's legal to have microsoftsucks.com as a "parody" site, but couldn't say for sure.

Either way, that ie7.com site is great

Sadly they did, but were more the size of desktops than a laptop lol. We have a couple of old 486 laptops here. Can't use new ones as our old software requires the 16bit card slots instead of the newer 32bit.

*sighs heavily* I collect vintage software (Mostly games ) just because it\'s old doesn\'t give anyone the right to rip it off.

*Pats his 486DX2* Nothing wrong with Win3.1 useful if you\'ve built a Dos box to run old games on.

commodore kid at this point it doesn\'t matter whether you\'ve legally bought the copies of windows you say you have, you\'ve lost your credibility when you said you downloaded a copy.
(But if you have obtained them legally, then more power to you!)

Just because someone has software on the internet for free, doesn’t mean it IS free.

If your looking for good LEGAL free old games that have been released as freeware be their authors try www.classicdosgames.com, abandonedware is -sadly- just a dressed up word for old pirated software.
(True abandonedware is software that has been released into public domain via copyright lapse, etc.)

Someone wrote it, give them the respect by buying it.
(I Recently scored a copy of Bubble Bobble: Dos Version for 1$ In the original Box!!!)

Lost in Thought, I think I\'ve seen an small 486 laptop... may have been a P1 though.
