where is this mysterious dry heat part of florida? I went in May last time, should be cooler right, and my shirt would just soak up the humidity and feel like I was wearing a wet towel.

Quote: "Nope. Unless you are a kid and have been magically transported from 1971. Soda is generally called soft drinks here. "

Hehehe, well that is what *everyone* calls it here. Nobody, absolutely nobody calls it soda here. To me that sounds weird--- like Archie comics dialogue weird.

"Hey Pops, can I get a soda?"

Heheh-- just sounds so strange.

Yeah, not a single person calls it "soda" here. It's all pop.

Personally, I call it "juk" - but that's because I'm strange. No-one else I know calls it that. Generally, though - juice. Of course, in Glasgow it's called "Ginger" - even if it's cola.

Whats truly intresting is how different the cultures are. Accent is different, terminoligy is different, what we see as weird people across the pond see as normal, and vice versa. Amazing how much social evolution can chane things in just a couple of hundred years, and as most americans have roots in england, this is especialy true.

Yeah, tis funny. We never call it soda either. Totally american and it never took off over here. Cream soda on the other hand is tops

Same here. Go to the middle of London and find anyone who can speak English. Not many sometimes. Essentially we invaded everyone then let them all come here years later. Created Indian restaurants though.

I call all soft drinks products a "coke", if I'm just being general, but if I'm being specific, then I'll say exactly which one.
