out of all the programs on the darkbasic website (darkbasic, dbpro, fps, etc), is the darkbasic and dbpro the same or better than the other program languages for making lets say a fps. would the fps programmer better than the db or is the db more versitile?

If you are deciding between DB and DBPro, I think that DBPro would be better for an FPS. Wait for more responses though.

Having a clue of what FPSC is in the first place would help you out.

FPSC is primarily focused on drag n' drop game creation, where there is no need to program anything at all. This means you wont have much customability, however, its also designed to allow for scripting, a form of programming in some ways. Scripting lets you customize FPSC to a certain extent, but never to the amount that you'd get with actually programming it yourself. Whats more, FPSC was made with DBP. It's great for throwing together fast, quality FPS's, but if you're looking for originality and having the pride of knowing you hard-coded the entire game yourself, go with DBP.

DBP = Programming/Coding
FPSC = Drag n' Drop/Scripting

Ofcourse you could have found out everything you need to know, including having the ability to download trial versions of every program, from each product's web page.

leader, what dont you get? We cant tell you whats better, you have to download the trials and see for yourself. The DGSDK is more powerfull because it utilizes c++, and c++ is a much more powerful language than BASIC, however it allows you to use the DBP commands, though IIRC you'll need DBP and the DGSDK for it to work.

The same goes for asking which modelling program is best, whats the best method for programming, whats the best tutorial to read when starting out, they all have to do with you. We cant tell you, because everyone has different learning abilities/styles. Yes, the DGSDK is more powerfull, but if you're just starting out then you'll be completely clueless as to what to do with it, and it would then be smarter to go with DBP. However if you've got some experience with c++, then chances are the DGSDK is right for you.

We cant make up your mind for you.
