I have no clue how a mall is anything like a bar.

You just seem to be confused what's considered "public" in practicality and "public" by law. Obviously you can say any place with "people" in it is public.

Public by law is NOT "outside." Show me something that says that please? "Public" is, by definition and every intent of my purpose of using the word, a place where people are welcome to go, albeit outside or in a business or whatever.

Ugh, I can't believe you're arguing with me on this... no one else is this silly lol. If you're in a bar, you're amongst other people, and hence you're in public. If you're in a zoo, you're amongst other people, hence you're in the public. You're "in public" as soon as you leave the privacy of your house. You're in private when you're at home or no one else is around, like in the bathroom. And before you go busting out dictionary.com on me:

Yes, a bar is "private property" in that some bloke owns it. But customers are "in public" because they're surrounded by PEOPLE who DO NOT OWN SAID BAR, making it a PUBLIC PLACE. And not many bars are private/ exclude common people from walking into them, making them... oh, look at that... OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. I know you're from the Ukraine, but YEESH, you've lived here long enough tht I shouldn't need to be giving you english lessons j/k

A bar or place of buisness is a public place in that anyone can enter when it is open, easiest way to show this is as follows. Here in the US the police may not enter a private location without a search warrant or probable cause(and needs to be pretty damn good) a bar, mall, park, video store whatever is open to public traffic and the police can come in at their leisure and poke around. You certainly can be arrested for disorderly conduct (public intoxication) from your barstool. The police can come into a bar and ask everyone to show them ID, they cannot do this in your home (unless of course you have an insane party going on).

Well according to Merranvos post 80% of the people do not smoke and they are the ones who wanted a ban, so opening a non-smoking bar seems like a better buisness choice doesn't it. Heck all those peole did not want to be anywhere near the smoke so you shoul dhave an 4:1 ratio of customers compared to the smoking bar.

Haha, the reason why so many bars closed down after the no-smoking rule was passed was because, get this: PEOPLE WHO GO TO BARS SMOKE. Generally speaking anyway, and if there were an option to have your establishment smoking or non smoking, then the smokers would go to the smokers bar and the non smokers would (get this, its really good) go to the non smokers bar! No one loses business and everyone is happy. Someone disagree with me.

Can't disagree, seems perfectly logical to me. We had a non-smoking bar here before the law made them all that way, and the place was packed *every* night. I mean packed... obnoxiously packed. I had heard that some other guy was planning on opening another non-smoking bar at the time, but I don't know if he did because if it has been opened it's been lost in the sea of pubs and taverns around here.

And in case anyone is wondering what this conversation has to do about tab... uh... um... mmm.... GOT IT! bands play live in bars, and I'd go so far as to guess that 70% of them are crappy cover bands, and they all play tabs (usually on stage lol). So there, it's linked
