No, that's what you *shouldn't* do. Many people (including myself) were screwed over by these "game design" schools.

Just get a real computer science or related degree. You will most likely not be making games when in classes, and there are a lot of boring things you must do, but you will come out stronger in the end.

I work for EA--- so not just sports titles.

If you want to know what they're looking for, check out their jobs site. http://jobs.ea.com

"

You purchase an SDK for sony, or use a homebrew sdk, then you use that SDK with C++, once your done with writing the source code, you have to use a special compiler in order to output to that format. However, if you use a homebrew sdk you will need to purchase a license from sony. There are also emulators to, i would look into those if i were you.

btw, are you more than one person (as in a "company"), or just an individual?

Quote: "Im considering MIT. what do you think?"

(A) Are you sure you can get into MIT? Not that I'm calling you stupid or anything, but yeesh, MIT? Unless you already have confirmation that they're willing to accept you, don't get too jumped up on it until you're accepted, and definitely apply at other schools as well as a safety net. Don't do what I did in college, pour your heart into one college, then end up at the one you least wanted to go to

(B) MIT graduates don't work on games, they work on space programs. Well, I'm sure *some* of them work on games, I wouldn't be surprised if Jake knew a few at EA, but a degree from MIT is pretty much a free meal ticket into any computer science-related field you feel like going into. You could save tens of thousands of dollars (and/ or your parents could) and go to a state college and still get into the industry. MIT, to my knowledge anyway, isn't ideal for game design... it's more related to advanced AI, computer engineering, etc. Like, building energy and space efficient CPU modules for shuttles and ISS. I used to work with a few MIT guys at my last serious job, and all they ever talked about was ISS and computer stuff that was way out of my league, so I dunno, I have a pretty slanted view on it, but from what I know, it's kinda hardcore for game development.

I too agree (from somewhat bitter experience) that 'game design' courses aren't what they're cracked up to be. Maybe one day they'll get better, but when I tried one, it was no darn good.
