I'll take any criticizm, so long as it doesn't question my personal abilities. When the book comes out I will also accept criticizm on it.

What, exactly? Nothing is as valuable as experience, so yes, "oldbies" are sought out in the industry."

What I was refering to was not oldbies on this forum, but game makers who have been programming for say 30-50 years, stop programming, then start writing books for the rest of their retired life. They might now be aware of new processes etc. that are appearing and changing so rapidly as technology advances.

Quote: "However, as said before and in a purely neutral way; there are already many books out there about this topic, and I would probably spend my time on that nice game you've got going at the moment than onr writing a book."

Well thanks, but if I stopped now I would be going against my word.

Quote: "And you seriously need to step back about what Cash said and read it from a neutral point of view man. Imagine it was someone elses thread and then re-read it."

Don't worry about that, we resolved it through email, and we found out that it was a mistaken meaning of words, so no hard feelings there.

Quote: "If you have your heart set on doing a book, NOT for money, then why not write a wee bit and then post it here and THEN see what people think about it? I had a similar idea ages ago but because of the issues raised here by various people I decided against it myself."

ARRG!!! How many times to I have to post in bold: I will be posting up a couple free chapters so that people can have proof of my skills.

Was that enough, how about bold italics underline?

I know that-- I'm saying the oldbies in the industry are highly sought after. Moreso than fresh wide-eyed uni grads.

Well, that's a good point, so I guess my book will lack something, instead of the other way around.

Pretend I wrote a big post here, trying to explain why I wouldn't buy your book.

Short version - I don't know you from Adam.

(Despite you saying you're making a overly-abbreviated game, saying you're a very good programmer, and saying you'll release a few free chapters.)

However - it'll be good experience for you, and probably look good on a CV/resume. So good luck with that. Oh, and try to not over-react all the time - you'll get ulcers

Thanks.

I wouldn't consider it an overreaction though. I was protecting my reputation.
