Last year when my girlfriend and I drove cross-country, we went to the real Deadwood. While it isn't laid out how I thought it would be, and Swearengen's was only one floor, it was still the highlight of the trip for me. We were looking all over the place for the saloon where Wild Bill was shot, and when we found it, we took pictures of these manequins they had set up to show him getting killed. I was standing on this gold plate and when I looked down to see what it was, it was actually a memorial from Charlie Utter marking the exact spot where Wild Bill fell to the ground after being killed. So me and Sharyn took a picture of it with our feet standing over the plate... if I get my scanner working I'll post a picture of it, it was pretty cool My only regret about going there is that (a) there were tons of spoilers all throughout the town, and (b) Sharyn made me visit a modern bar/ restaurant owned by Kevin Costner. *shudder*

yeah, still standing but modernized. the hotel is WAY prettier than it looks on the show. The show uglified most of the town hehe. There's so many saloons there now I couldn't figure out which one was Cy Tolivers hehe.

Well, aside from the show being crack-balls stupid, they can only do so many seasons of the characters hiding out in "dad's basement" smokin up trying not to get caught. By the time you're in your 20s it just isn't thrilling any longer.

Damn that show was lame. The laugh track was one of the reasons I cut my cable. Stupid suits telling me when to laugh.
