Game Prolog-

Detroit 2037-
After the war ended in 2029, America had sure taken it's share of lumps. Though pretty well protected, you never hear about the 46 missiles the armed services stopped. All that's felt, all that's ever mentioned in the coffee houses anyway, are the six nuclear devices that made it though the defenses. Four were targeted for this state alone, most likely, due to the fact the remaining auto plants converted in times of war to produce military equipment and vehicles. Three of the four were stopped. Detroit faired fairly well, but the Pontiac area is all but gone now, pretty much just a tributary of Lake St. Clair now.

The war made the rich richer and the poor more destitute than ever before. Though there are parts of Europe that are now no more then a glass parking lot, the destruction here only served to justify the governments actions on clamping down on all of it's citizens nation wide. A cruel martial law swept the land; the rich and privileged were still awarded their freedoms, while lower and middle classes are scrutinized, under the watchful eye of 'The State'- a so-called homeland security agency.

This nations economy being in a state of shambles, and me needing a way to put food in my mouth, I found dating(and lets use that term loosely) men of power an easy road. This is when I was approached by 'The Center'.

The Center, as it's known to the population, was at one time part of our government. Now considered rogue agents, they've taken it upon themselves to right the wrongs of the countrie's dregs that 'The State' will turn a blind eye to as long as money keeps the pockets full of the right people.

My initial contact by 'The Center' was because of the man I was "dating". He was selling plans to overseas agents to the missiles being constructed in the auto-plant-turned-military-facility. I was to get my date, whom we'll call Mr.A, to go to a designated spot where The Center would take care of it from there. Part of the deal I made with them for doing this is they would hide me and take care of me. I was known to the friends of Mr.A so I'd no longer have that meal ticket or be able to strike up another 'friend' in the circle of rich men.

One of the agents that dealt with this little traitor to our country, was a man that went by the name 'Vet'. Later, much later I found out that his name was Gary. Gary and I became close friends in the months that followed, and he began showing me how to shoot and how to defend myself. Eventually, how to kill. There's even talk from Vet, that he's trying to get Skid (his contact in The Center), to give me some small jobs. Maybe one day I can be a full fledged agent too.

Though not in the lap of luxury, I'm safe. My names been changed. My locations far from expensive hotels and lavish restaurants I once frequented. I'd undergone a little surgery to change my appearance, but I'm much happier. Though I don't see Vet often because of his assignments, the time we can spend together seems so right to me. I guess if ever there was a person I truly cared about it was Vet.

The five remaining bombs hit in other key cities in America: New York, Washington DC, San Diego and China Lake in SoCal .Last but not least, and probably the funniest target, if there could be any humor in this, was Las Vegas. When the missile was claimed and celebrated, it's said that particular target was an attempt to cleanse some of the sin and degradation our nation flaunts.

Well I've got something to tell you....

We all sin....And one day, I may meet you in Hell

But you first....

Well this is a small demo clip of the game (wip).

In this clip you see some new features not seen on fpsc before, working security cammera you can keep going back to.

This is not a representation of the final product.

Taken fpsc to its limits

I want to thank Errant AI for the gun tips he gave me for the gun in that video. Shell timing, hammer falls. Stuff me being a gun noob needed some help with, Errant was real helpful in answering and providing the guidance for the gun now termed 'The Priest', which is our stars main close range weapon.

hhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaap!

(in typical kung-fu surprise voice)

I see someone has the animated hud script working. Looking very nice man. The reload and everything on the gun looks super cushty.

This is shaping up to be another game that pushes FPSC well out of its "development safe-zone".

Really hot work. I'm so glad to have another nemesis!

Goodluck, can't wait to see more.

Thanks for the comments all you guys.

@Butter
Yeah were going to try and push this as far as can be. Were just a couple noobs really, but as we make up some cool stuff we'll be sure and let you get a look.

You may want to look back at My first post which was more of a place holder originally for S4 to make his post. I've added the games prolog so now you can place a story behind the splash images and hands in the game that you've seen.

Feel free to comment.

Locrain,
This is some excellent work.
This definitely is shaping up to be one of the few FPSC games I have seen at this point that I would pay for.
Please keep us informed about this game.

Edit:
The security camera concept is pretty cool.

Well thanks for the bump Fred but it's really hard to be able to post anything in this thread at the moment. With the Nvidia contest looming, S4 and myself have opted to hold back any information and screen shots so were not giving anyone else ideas. This has also halted us, sadly enough, in giving out scripts like the flashlight that we offered to the more courteous forum members.

My posting of the Berletta, in the models section, was my attempt at showing people were still feverishly working on very decent quality media for this.

Problem is we can't show it....lol( OK refuse to show....you say blue I say navy)

Edit: I'll take this opportunity since I hate bumping my own threads to place the SinninSoul-001 story zone in it's proper place.

I think I am the only person in the civilized world who has not/is not entering the contest.
Not that I wouldn't like the prize...but everybody is entering.
I understand.Nobody wants their stuff ripped off.
I have gotten a little more picky about what kind of stuff I post and/or make available...although it is for a different reason.
I like the comic book style you have going there.

*A great uproar ensues. The board of well-fed gentlemen who administer the workhouse are outraged by tschwarz's ingratitude. Wanting to be rid of this troublemaker, they offer a sum of few images to any person wishing to take on the boy as an apprentice.

@Fred I gotcha man....thats what were going for....to S4 and myself most these games look to polished and to 1 segment same as the next. I think were breaking away from that look....wait till ya get to play and see all the nifty stuff thats new to fpsc besides the look *wink, wink*.

EDIT I wanna say also that at no point dose it ever drop below 31 fps even with as much as is in the scenes. We seem to be running like 13k polys most the time with spikes only as high as 22k. A couple items like doors and lights may look stock, but nothing is placed without some reduction and tiding up. "TGC/user free" items are to bloated for us. And this game runs like a raped ape thanks to S4 and his placement of all this custom media.
*note items like the bed which is flat now has no mattress hump but insted a low poly blanket is draped at the end to promote realisim, and the window impossibly placed in the center of 2 segments.

Thanks guys. Theres still things that have to be changed even in those scenes. Take, for instance, the door jam in image 2. It looks like it sticks out like 4 inches. Now look at the door jam in image 8, which is my version of a fire door. Little things like that drive me insane. Its like the guys modeling for TGC are on crack, and I can't use one thing they provide without some changes, so the games taking a wile.

Edit: I take that back I may keep the wall light with no changes.

I thought we agreed, Loc. No pics from my apartment building per the manager.

Very, very well done. Textures and lighting are outstanding. A perfectly dark feel about the whole thing.

Best.

Are you the thread police?Every time somebody has bumped a thread in the past few days you have told them to quit bumping old threads...whether they should have bumped it or not.
Besides...I thought telling people not to bump old threads was my job.
I appreciate what you are trying to do but you are going overboard.
And this is a WIP thread...which means that Loc will occassionally pop in from time to time to post something in it.
