[opinion] In my own opinion, I think ADD and ADHD are fake "disorders" that were invented by pharmaceutical corporations to get lazy kids dependent on medications. When I was a kid, they called ADD "daydreaming" and ADHD "being an over-cola'd hyper little brat." lol I only wish they dished out ritalin when I was a kid! I mean seriously, how many kids have ADD/ ADHD now? But anyway... [/opinion]
Quote: "Second question, how can they make smacking illegal. If they did, kids would have nothing to fear, I am 14 myself, and if our teachers at school were allowed to cane the kids I bet we would learn a great deal more."
My parents never smacked me around, and I never went and stole cars or shot people or took lunch money from other kids. If I was bad, my mom and/ or dad would ask me to cut it out. If I continued to misbehave, they'd yell at me. If I continued further, they'd take away my Atari and lock it up in their closet, and presto, I turned into a saint
.
And seriously, no teacher should ever be given the right to strike students. It's a risk not only to students, but to the teachers themselves. What if the teacher wrongfully smacks your kid around for no good reason? Who would the parents believe, the allegedly unruly kid or the seemingly-innocent teacher? And what's to keep that kid from going into school the next day and blowing the teacher's head off? Kids nowadays are shooting their teachers on a whim! Imagine what they'd do if they had a decent excuse? At the end of the day, if anyone hits my kids, they should leave the country. If they made it legal for teachers to beat kids, I'd certainly hope they'd make it legal for parents to beat teachers.
