Anyone signed up on the GGE Beta? If so, well, pretty much like the lonely weirdos we are, post up your profile

The GGE is basically something mostly to do with Garagegames (hence I'm on there as members get the beta) Its basically a society of gamers/game fans and developers and even publishers (The only publishers at the moment is GG, so I'd assume only Torque games would be up for publication) Its where people host their games as well, I assume its a good method of advertising your works and getting people to view it, I'm signed up as a developer ready for Shadow Behinds the leaves:

Cool, Cian if you don't get invited I got 2 invites, I'd be happy to send one.

Nice one, I haven't tried it, but TGE has been the one I've been playing with, although I yet have got to get the hang of Torque script

Yah, TorqueScript is almost too weird for me. Too many % and $ signs for a C-Scripted language. And it's not object-oriented, but that's ok I guess.

Indeed, which is why I bought Kenneth Finney's '3D Game Programming All in One' and am hoping to get Beginners Guide to Torque for Christmas, Ken Finney's book is really good for all of the Torque script stuff, although it is a bit dated, as it was directed at version 1.2 I believe, and Torque itself has changed since then. But nevertheless it comes with a great FPS/Third Person shooting making tutorial, with Milkshape tuts as well, where you have a character in a level with different enemies, a weapon and ammo to pick up and the enemies have their own AI system, tis a great book, except I'm on about Chapter 3, a long way to go yet

In relation to TGB, I doubt it has any.

Yes, I have that same Finney book--- it's quite good That was back when I was into the TGE more, and also purchased the RTS Starter Kit. Sadly I may abandon TGE altogether, but I can't sell and/or transfer the license

Cool, I almost abandoned TGE, because I began to become more interested in Ogre and Irrlicht, but once again my interest has caught me again, heck I was looking at some tutorials one using Melee weapons this morning. I think I'll probably stay with it in the end with DBP, as Torque pretty much does/augments all of things I hate coding like physics, collision and placement of the object, I actually prefer coding the game play/graphical effects more than anything.

As for the RTS starter kit, never tried it, is it any good?
I'm afraid the last thing I bought when I had money was Torque and the Kenneth Finney book, having no job I've been poor since

I got an invite because I purchased one of their products.

Yah it's great--- just shouldn't have bought it without knowing absolutely anyone who can render 3D models for me. Seriously, I don't have *any* friends that are into hobby game dev--- not even one, and I suck at 3D art.

@Jeku: Hahah, opposite for me. I have about 3 friends who know networks like the back of their hands, 2 who program, 1 who does professional 3d modelling, and a few web designers/scripters I know from work.

Cool, I might pick up a copy of it.

Pretty much the same, although one friend who became interested that made one post here and decided to post randomly at Ozark Games then stopped, and another was asking me about it the other day.

Which is the reason why I've tried to equalise my 3D skills and programming skills, but I'm always willing to help people get started off in the 3D world before, tips, tricks, advice, tutorials, tutorial links etc, if you are interested, email me.

Go into my profile, look at my groups and you should see a TGC one, Cian started it, perhaps that's a good place to start a ring.

They won't, that is if your email address has been sent to them, like mine was, because I bought a Garage Games product (Torque) and well its a little offer GGE give because it is run by Garage Games, if you're not one of those people you have to get invited, my remaining invite is going to whoever wins the TGC 3D modelling challenge I hold in 3D Chat chat, if you can't get that one, then you'll have to ask to see if anyone else is willing to give you one, as you can see Dared and Gil have offers there.

sorry to bring this up from the grave, but i have a BIG announcement

the group "the game creators" is now ranked #1 in most popular groups

to top it off, devhat, the official irc network of #darkbasic is the #1 rated group

perhaps this will offer a greater incentive for people to join, come on, be part of the awesomeness

Crikey! I did see TGC as number 3, but number one, well that's good, goes to show, we're the best Looking at that page, the only Garage Games stuff is Torque X and TGEA, and they're 4th, if I were a gloater, I'd be doing a whole lot of rubbing in now... But I'm not.

Well it is good news as not only does it advertise our profiles (I nicely did my profile favour by being one of the first friends of Nintendo, THQ and Ubisoft ) but it may possibly raise the status of TGC.

It passes our filter, and it has 'game' and 'sex' in the title, odd that on, as it seems everything at school with the word 'game' is blocked during lessons, including this one.
