ooo, That's nice.
Can you do me up a quick little texture of a metal floor, with blood smeared across it? That would be cool. Thanks,

These look good, which probably scares me a little. Usually when we see a new guy give away textures of this quality they turn out from some game.

So if you've made these great job. Most are of a quality I'd use personally, and I'm pretty picky.

(sorry about saying the "if" deal but it seems every time I open my mouth up and give someone high praise, it turns out they snagged them from game, which I'm hoping isn't the case here. Once you get a history of a certain level of work you'll be no longer questioned, but the actions of a few casue us all to be very cautious).

Looked at the site. Signed up for the free download. Sorry bout any doubt, but 99 times outta 100, when photo realistic textures are posted, they come from some game.
I imagine it's hard to make much in a day an age when digital cameras are so resonably priced. Kinda cut the throats of all the real photograhers.

But thanks for the textures. They're very nice.

Alot use Gimp. Thats free and set up much like Photoshop. I personaly use PhotoshopCS...others use Paintshop Pro, which is another good prog but it cost a little. Not near as much as CS though.

Theres tons around here that swear by GIMP though. Can't hurt to try it...the price is right.

There is also Paint Shop Pro and Texture Maker.
I use Gimp for quickie textures and I use Texture Maker when I want detailed textures...even them sometimes I can still use the Gimp.
The Gimp does an excellent job of image editing as well.

UV mapping can be much harder then modeling. Figuring out how to "tetris" in all of the parts to a mapping area, so something like a gun, is left with a lot of detail can be quite hard. Add the fact that most times the gun is in separate pieces and this adds to the steps needed to compile it on one map. If your not getting mapping I'd start out with something easier then a gun, as you'll end up getting lost and frustrated.

Some where around here bond has a tutorial vid for mapping in Max, though these same techniques can be used in any mapping application.
