They are a poor copy of Death, heck half the songs sound like Pull the Plug. Still if you like death metal you might like them, nothing new to me.

tomorrow I'm going to the local coffee shop with my scene friends and we are all going to the dollar store afterwards to buy white bandannas to fold and put in our back pockets.

After that were going home and fixing our hair, it takes about 3 hours plus one hole in the ozone from all of the products we use. If we can't get it to cover our eye properly we will cry and hug each other.

After that were going to see my favorite band: "death before dying on a twisted river thats bleeding."

but the new opening band

"autumn falls of a godless winter death, thats burning with a hornless unicorn, thats bleeding black on the broken heart of an endless romance"

also sounds really great.

I can't wait.

I'd say that's hard core or Death metal, not progressive, progressive is more like Dream Theatre or Tool and Progressive death metal is more like Opeth. I don't think they're anything special, they seem to sound like what everybody else is going for at the moment, but then I like la variation, even if I listen to a lot of death metal/heavy metal/other metal, some people wouldn't believe how much in the non mainstream stuff there is of a variation. Of course, nothing beats classical music either, some reason a good metal song helps you appreciate how good classical music is.

ooh scene kids really irritate me, sorry they do, same for a lot of emo's, not only with their personality, but their hair really irritates me, far too much hair spray if you ask me. When I get picked up at 6 after 6th Form, I hang around town and sometimes talk to the scene kids, all they care about is getting high, sex and silly things, one talked about a boat full of weed in the middle of town would be a cool idea, another just keeps going 'You heard the new Himsa album' and stuff like that, its as if their meaning in life is to try and look cool on the outside, so now I just go to the library and study . But I do supposed that's the scene kids we have here.

I disagree, Dream Theatre are very good and talented, John Petucci (However the hell you spell his surname) is an excellent guitaristic and Opeth, well they're Death Prog metal, but sheer talent I must say, it's metal you can relax to, even with the screaming in the background, its my cure for insomnia. I think most of the stuff Opeth does is more improvised that written, the sort of thing I like to do myself, but with a lot less talent. Floyd were legends, but I wouldn't say they're the last of good proggers. (But Tool are overated in my opinion, I heard Lateralus first and them live at a festival, not too bad, god 10,000 days for Xmas, sounded pretty much the same to me)

Heh, Tool isn't really overrated, as they have to really push it just to get average reviews, but their last album seemed to be a less involved, enveloping, or even progressive effort from their old ones. Sure theres a couple gems on the last one though..

Still though, my favorite prog rock band is Rush, they've got universally enjoyable music with their own, decades ahead of their time style that is still imitated today.

icky, all of the As Blood Runs Black songs sound the same. And seriously, their throats must really be sore after seeing each song! I hate that type of music... to some degree.

I avoid reviews, they mean nothing to me, as quite often things I like get a bad review and things I hate do, all in the general world of course, not just music I just try before I buy My thought of them overrated is by what people say they are on TV and in the real world, they have talent and are good live, even if they don't like talking to the audience. But their music to me gets samey after a while, but I do like them

Only one reviewer I trust, my cousin, we have a rather similar taste in music and if he gets something before I do and says it sucks, 98% of the time he is right.

ABRB is tolerable, they are just wholly unoriginal. Sorry Benny but their drum/bass lines might as well be sampled from Death, and the guitar lines sound like weak attempts at Annihilator.

i agree lol... just about all heavy metal music sounds the same to me...

that could be because i listen to the drums the most (playing the drums myself) and in all the heavy metal bands i've heard the drums have been mind numbingly un-original... this is what i think goes through a heavy metal drummer's head

Fast fast fast.

yeah, that makes me cool

BASS DRUM DOUBLE PEDAL

FAST ROLL!!!!!!

OH YEAH THROW IN SOME CYMBALSSSSS NEXT!!!

repeat the above until end of song

seriously i don't think i've heard a heavy metal song with anything but straight up single/double stroke rhythms

Of recent bands Avenged Sevenfold is about the only one I have heard that still plays solo's

Now heavy metal is a broad term including bands from Def Leppard to Slayer, among that you have Hair metal, Death Metal etc.

Maiden, Metallica, Anthrax and quite a few others do not fit the above statement. IMO.

well maybe i haven't heard maiden metallica or anthrax (or if i have maybe i've heard their less good songs)... it's not exactly like i listen to heavy metal all day long... i've been put off enough by all the heavy metal i've heard that i haven't explored it

(though even if they are inventive with their drums i doubt i'd like them since the whole screaming thing puts me off more than the drums lol)

I don't really follow anybody's reviews as such, but I'll take a recommendation and find a sample or an Mp3(Music), catch on sky/take my chances(Movie), play a demo (Games/Programs) or something like that. I mean with games and applications I don't usually buy it with out trying out a demo, which is a downfall for Neverwinter nights 2 I'm not even sure my system will take it.

As for metal, there is such a range of it Peter, the stuff you're describing, few that I listen to will fall beneath that analysis. I like music with a varied beat and something to power the music, not doing it because they're a 'rock band' or for the fame and fortune or whatever reasons, but music to say something, even if you can't hear the lyrics, a good band will tell you in the sound of their music. A good example of this contrast is Marilyn Manson, first, his music had some sort of meaning and emotion and now, it's just commercial crap.
