I wouldn't hold my breath--- they'll have to properly support DX9 before DX10 It's hard enough just getting DBP to work in Linux (if not impossible).

Cedega actually has pretty good support for DirectX.

None the less, the only game I play on my PC now is WoW. Both Wine and Cedega can make it run under Linux pretty easily. I'm not really a big PC gamer anyway. I've always liked commercial games on consoles more. I'm just moving to Linux because I support OpenSource and I'm flat out sick of Windows.

I'm not here to argue about operating systems. So let's say this is all about opinion.

Good luck with Vista to those who upgraded.

And not blu ray or hd dvd? Yeah it does suck. Oh wait, even though no new computer since 5 years ago has come with a cd rom drive(just guessing here) and Vista wants 2 gigs of ram to run smovely you´re still saying that they should release it over 50 cds aswell as the dvd version? It doesn´t make sense. That´s like saying they should bring out movies on vhs.

Need path finding in your games? Have a look at the tutorials on Pathfinding.

I think it's only 1gb. Still, it makes me mad because that just seems like a way for Microsoft to put that in there so hardware companies they like will make money. It's forceing everybody stuck with 512mb(like me), and even 256mb, to spend $200 or so on new hardware.

You might be waiting a long time.

Edit: oops, didn't see this page, didn't realise people already posted similar comments.

Um, no, that's called Moore's Law. Were you mad when Texas Instruments came out with graphic calculators and you had to upgrade? I'm glad the industry keeps marching forward at lightning speed.

Will you complain when John Carmack finishes the Doom 4 engine in which you'll have to upgrade your video card and processor to play it?

Yes, it's great that the industry is moving forward at a record speed. Yet at the same time, Microsoft should have put more thought into getting a larger audience. Now Vista will grow slowly because everyone has to upgrade more hardware.

Well, I don't play Doom, so no. But seriously: What I mean is that, if I were to get Vista, instead of paying around $200 for the software, I'm going to be paying and extra $200 just for RAM. I guess if I REALLY wanted it, then, no, I wouldn't care.

Oh well, this is getting off topic. We are arguing too much. Again, good luck with Vista whoever got it.

New versions of windows always gets people to upgrade their PCs. Hell, I remember when trying to install Windows '98 on my 486-33 and it saying a 66Mhz or higher process was required. Shattered dreams! But a 486-66 was still pretty high end in '97 so it was a fantasy.

Dunno about that. I bought my first Pentium in 96. Was a 133mhz effort and was basically one of the fastest at the time (166mhz). I remember because I spent over a grand on it (pounds) then within a couple of weeks had to work in Dubai for 3 months (thought I was going for 3 weeks). Gutting. Had a tear in my eye a couple of months ago when I ended it's life by putting a mallet through the hard drive in my back garden (moving house/ country and had to ditch a few PCs in the process).

Cheers

I am 99% probably lying in bed right now... so don't blame me for crappy typing

Hmmm. Doubt it.... Interesting if true. As in waiting a couple of years ain't too bad. To skip 2 OSes would be too much.

Cheers
