Decal Maker
Visit Website: Click Here

Information: Decal Maker is a simple utility to allow you to import any image file (if a supported format) and make it a decal in FPS Creator. Version 6.0 (in the works) will even feature the ability to import multiple images (or a tiled image) for animated decals, then exported directly into FPS Creator. More info can be found at the website.

New Version: If you've used my program before, you've probally seen its progress from a simple text command line to a much better windows based GUI. Even though it progressed so, the last version released (version 4.1) had several bugs. The new version (version 5.0) has fixed some of these, along with some new features.

Bug Fixes & New Features:
*Added DDS export
*Fixed Texture size at 512x512 rather than four times the size of the decal
*Most images have transparency in-game (possibly not in editor)

Please post comments, suggestions for version 6, and bugs reports in this thread.

I am currently looking for beta testers for version 6. They will receive the full, version 6.0 registered for FREE, and I ask for 2 general members who use FPSC, and one senior member. I may also ask a certain person/people to beta test.

@Zeppelin - Okay, a tester you shall be.

@Walking Dead - Can I have your e-mail?

The first beta won't be done for awhile, as the animated decal section (the one I am going to work on first) is going to take some work, mainly because I have not really been into animated decals in FPSC much.

@FredP - Great! I was hoping for someone who's been on the fourms for longer, but you've probally got the equivelent in expirence, as you are a mod.

I actually had 5.0 on my computer for awhile, with dds export, improved image size ect but never released it, luckily though I caught a bug and fixed it today when I reviewed the project, one that I would have missed had I released it earlier. It was kinda a behind the scene bug, but could seriously mess up your texture if you made more than one decal & exported them.

Alright, I've already started messing with animated decals, here's a result of a test export (through a built in command, you can't select the textures yet, I'm prefecting the image compiling). As you can see, it skips the first images on the left and the first on the top. I'm still trying to work out the kinks

@Airslide what’s the license with this program, I mean the free one. Can we use it for commercial games? I do have to say that this will be a very good program to have around once you’ve finished V6, keep up the good work.

Sorry for the triple post but...

Some simple succsess. I made 16 images, added numbers to 7 of them (too lazy to keep going) and manage to teak the code to come out right. Here's an image of it (reason I couldn't just use edit)...

Next I need to make it so you select the images, and then it exports an entity, decal ect.

Also, I found that decals have a spec file than defines how many images horizontal and vertical, I'm unsure if this works, but I'll expirement and see if I can use it to overcome decal speed issues

Deathcow - You posted right before I did, lol

EDIT: Literaly, same minute even

I forgot to include the liscense with the download I'll fix that shortly, but to sum it up, you can use it to make decals for commercial or non-commercial games, even distribute them in a pack, provided you put this somewhere in your game/pack:

Quote: "(Some/All) of the Decals in this (Game/Pack) were made in Decal Maker - http://www.conner94.techvoid.com/DecalMaker/"

Obviously you'd only pick one of the things in the parentesses. The full version (Version 6 registered) does not require this message.

@Airslide Ah That’s great, I think I'll be able to use it for my Project, but I'll check out your V6 once you've finished it. I think this is something that has been missing from the import tools created for FPS Creator. Again keep up the good work.

Great! What do you think it should be priced at? I was thinking an affordable $4.99, it seems to be reasonable since most programs people have at about $15.00 for things like segments.

Well, the Doom Fan Game Resource Kit was pretty much a new skin for Conlonel X (donated to the project) and an imp converted to direct x and re-animated (from the JDoom Model Project), but I am making a sequel to the Doom Fan Game, one better than ever, and will include a new resource kit with lots of objects (barrels, lamps ect)

I've updated the site to include a link to the liscense agreement.

Edit: If you've view the site before you may have to press "refresh" to update the page.

Edit 2: I'm starting the interface for the animated decal part of the program, shouldn't take long, and the image editor (simple program to flip, strech, shrink, ect images) will be worked on after I finish animated decal exporting directly to FPSC.

Good. Just remember, the resource kit is based off the JDoom Model Project, so credit must be given to them, though I'll mention that in the installer.

I'm taking requests for features in Version 6.0, here's what I've planned/started so far:
*Animated Decals
*Auto Updater
*Wall Decals
*Thick decals (for something like a game case)
*Thick decals with front, back, possibly sides (select images and Decal Maker places them in one image that is used as a uvmap)

Well, if you want that, why don't I make two versions? Version 6.0 Regsitered (standard) and Version 6.0 Pro. Pro would have the ability to make segments, entites ect for a little more money, like $10-$15. I've also gotten to a fair point in modeling skills so I can make plenty of customizeable templates. I'll think about it once I finish the registered version. I might make pro like a whole FPSC editing kit, with Decal Maker 6.0 Registered part of it, and several other sections to do what you said and more, maybe weapons, ect.

Decal Maker 6.0 is being placed on hold for awhile. Why? I wish to start a new community project, one in memory of Austrialia's Steve Irwin, the crocodile hunter. For more info please visit this link:
http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=88425&b=1

EDIT: I've changed my mind. Instead, I'll strive for release harder. That way I can use some of the earnings to donate to Discovery to go to the Austrialian Zoo and his family's education. Though, please check the link above to see if you can help.

A) It's in police custody, and they plan to destroy it when they get it back.

B) How evil are you?

EDIT: Another feature I thought of - Exporting your decals in a sorta installer package that puts them right in FPSC, for the purpose of distrubuting decals. What do you think?

Even if they released the video, trust me, you don't want to see someone truly dieing. He actuall died underwater I think, but I'd rather not go into detail. I loved his shows and this is a severe hurt to alot of people.

EDIT: To stay on TOPIC, the beta is ALMOST ready for beta testers. I'll send you all e-mails with it soon.

Well honestly, i do want to see whats its like to see someone actually die, not for enjoyment, just so i can be more sincere about it, and no he did not die underwater, he died being drivven to the hospitial, i know because he called someone before he died, *a good friend*

Version 6.0 is getting to a more stable point now - animated decals can be imported and exported, though not directly to FPSC. I've been kinda slacking with development due to the fact that I'm working on a WW2 game (DBP) and Hostile Environment (FPSC)

I am curious though, how many people out there use this ?

EDIT: Beta testers will be sent links in a week or so, sorry for slow development but I need to make some new GUI setups for the animated decals.
