I like having a desktop without many shortcuts. Its like my house. I can't stand having stuff laying around, so I put the stuff away and organize it (usually those times when it is really hard for me to get to sleep, I clean x_x).
The My Games folder has a bunch of folders in it like "Shoot-Em-Up" and "Platformer", and inside those folders are only shortcuts to games. I don't like having game shortcuts outside of that folder. Everything is organized and doesn't take that long to get.
Then I use the start menu for all the other shortcuts.
Rubiks Cube's desktop is way too empty for me though...

I like a big recycle bin because I go through a lot of files, like games downloaded that I don't like, etc.
and its neither a mac or linux. Both Ugh and zzz were wrong... x_x
