About 30 minutes ago, I had a full desktop. There were about 5 hidden icons too.

Anyways.... Thats not nearly as bad as it was about a month ago. I accidently pasted the contents of a folder containing over 1000 files.... Through dbp code.. (Not intentionally, made an accidental loop condition)

Cheers,

I work easily with that desktop....

If I need to find something, I just rearrange the icons by name, data, etc.

Of course. We call it "friendly file sharing" here.

And that's hardly the worst that's on my desktop if you knew what a good half of those programs did.

@indi - emule and shareaza does not automatically = pirate. My wife uses them to download Korean dramas, for one thing

90% of the cases, yes, but I wouldn't blame someone so fast. Just because you can afford half a dozen studio computers doesn't mean nobody else can

127.0.0.1

But no seriously. I acctually PAID for Max 6. And I refuse to do so for every new version that they release. I simpally do not have that much spare cash. Nor do I think it is an especially good piece of software anyways.

And seriously:
I have shareaza.
Your conclusion: He pirates software.

Wow, it must be perfect anti-piracy indi, the person who has never ever performed any kind of copyright infringement at all in his entire life, and has never used a file sharing program ever... yeah right.

Hey, in this instance Indi is right in telling him to lay off the P2P programs. Whether Indi does it or not, he's giving sound and proper advice. I can't say I've never pirated anything, but if I do, I do usually try to end up buying the software. I stay as far away from pirated software as I can, as it doesn't sit right on my conscience.

Theres your paid copy of cinema 4d CE 6 eh sepp... unlucky
(I'll never forget that.)

Hows hexagon treating you then mate?

Just to have my say, i don't think someone should be instantly accused of pirating software just because he has a file sharing application on his computer, there are many legal reasons to be using them, many open source applications use them for quicker downloads, there was even that open source project "orange" which had the movie for download through it.
Although saying this, i agree with Agent Dink that it needs to be made clear its not welcome here. As for me, i own all my applications legally, again, with Agent Dink, noone is completely innocent when it comes to this debate, but i can happily say that everything i use is all legally owned.
[Speaking of which i'm still on the edge of wether to upgrade to max 9 or not, i have other things that money needs to be spent on... ]

Just my say...

Lol Grandma

It's Ubuntu 6.10 Edgy Eft running Beryl which lets you do transparent windows, multiple desktops on the surface of a cube, the OSX expose thing, and just improves the look in general. Kind of a pain to get running, but well worth it in the end.

He paid for Max 6 (thousands isn't it still?) then decides it's not that great anyways? Erm if I was going to buy a piece of software that costs thousands then I would either be a professional who works with that software and knows their way around it like the back of their hand (and probably doesn't have to pay for it themselves), or wants to be like that and has enough money to do it in their own time before changing jobs. I mean thousands for gods sake.......

Heh, yeah, unless schools have become places of high morals since I was a kid, then thinking otherwise is laugh out loud funny. Any geeky IT kids when I was at school were practically like drug dealers. Honestly, the amount of copied tapes and complicated deals (get game X to person Y to get game Z from person V which can be used to finish the C90 of games W, S, T, U, L, and N that person A needs to give up Cybernoid 2. And much more complicated in some cases. Oh yes....) I had going was epic. I was a pirate in them days, and rum made me giggle etc.

Ditto--- in high school we all traded games. I once gave a guy a copy of a fighting game on PC for 50 pounds of Bavarian cream. At the time it seemed like a good deal, but--- 50 pounds of Bavarian cream!?

Yeah, I once traded everything that the bloke who made Cybernoid had ever done (C90 of course) for a months loan of a mega drive and Sonic. I did something similar to get a loan of a SNES and Firefox. Unfortuantly completed it 3 different ways within a few hours so was a bit of a let down.

Also later on got everything for STOS (Compiler, 3D editor etc) for doing a couple of BTEC assignments. Although I actually bought the original STOS. Wasn't quite the same though after tape. Gotta love it though. And remember the pirate disks on the ST? All that Pompey Pirates and Automation etc. Much better coding examples on those discs than the actual games sometimes.

Oh, and couldn't upload to DB for some reason. Using Photobucket instead. Here is my desktop from my main work/home desktop PC.

Wow, Shadow Heart WinTV is a realy old program.

I made some scripts for it way back when (Win95/98) so it would log on at certain times and download the TV guide / Stocks / Bonds from Cefax/Teletext

Took me back seeing that, it's even low colour icon
