Now that this is winding down, I have a few questions:

How long do we have to judge?
Do we email someone our results or post them openly?
Are we to judge them on like a points system for each category(collision, texture, blah blah blah)?

Ok i got an idea, I've got school right now so i'll be back in about 8 hours. Each judge must take into consideration the criterea, and must make a score out of 20 for each entry (up to 5 points for each catagory. we'll tally up and see the top 3 after all judges have voted.

I'll do mine now so you know what I mean:

Bullshock's axe:
13.5
Domray's industrial fan:
19
Fred's wall mounted fire exstinguisher:
14.5
Smitho's "cutest wall item" (hehe):
18.5
OlEG's Curtain:
15.5
Eldest Dragon's light:
9.5
Duplex's wine rack:
11.5

that took longer than i thought it would. ive put the total score of everyone from me here, no we just gotta wait for our other 4 judges

Duplex, Could you please post all the files and not just the bin and dbo's. I don't run a copy of FPSC on my C: drive, and your fpe set in stone everything looking to C. Also makes it hard for me to convert to 3ds so I can look at the UV layout for the "use of poly" portion of the judging.

I would have said something sooner but in the interest of fairness this is the first time I've downloaded all the items, so I could see them anew for the first time as a group.

Thanks

NP, thank you

Loc

EDIT: ya did it again. That zip only has the DBO and bin and no .x file....I cant use that. Your bin thats made on your machine calls for the texture to be looked for on the C drive. I can't do that man. And I'm not installing a version of FPSC just so I can judge this. If you don't want the .x file released you can either send it to my public email or make me a bin where the entity looks for a texture on D; or G: drives.

we really need the .X files for the pack, as bin and dbo's change for updates and things, and the .x file doesn't. You sometimes have to delete the .dbos and .bins before putting them ingame again, to make fresh ones for newer versions ,etc.

Thats really annoyin me! I'm sure I put the .x in the that last zip, here it is again, I'll shoot myself If It dint work ( I mean that).

Only 2/5 judges have voted.

Loving the loc with judge hair I did work out all the scores for each individual thing too, like you did. But I only posted the final score. Judging is much harder than i thought it would be.

come on judges! I'll give all the judges an e-mail.

Thats the guy I use for my avatar, only with a barrister wig on(making that wig sucked for as much of it actually shows). Big gavel huh? Thought it appropriate for me judging something..

Anyways, you did well for being so new to modeling. At least you got your items in FPSC, which is more then some people can say. You'll only get better, and congrats once again. But this contest isn't over. You never know how the other judges are going to vote.

So are you basicly saying with the scaling, make the Model bigger in the modeling software instead of scaling in the .fpe?

yup its always a better idea to do that, as it keeps the colision good with something scaled at 2000 if you through something at it, it may glitch and send it shooting around at 200 mph. Because it looses it's sense of colision.

Bullshock's axe:
I like the axe over all. Nice idea this is the ideal weapon of choice in horror games not by the hero but instead by a crazed zombie not over used in games but does have limited use. Did find some mistakes which counts against this model.

Final score: 14

1) Game Efficency (Collision; polys) 4
2) Overall In Game Appearance (modeling, texturing) 3
3) Texture Quality (how good the texture is) 2
4) If it fits the theme. 5

Duplex's wine rack:
Plain and simple wine rack. The real problem here is the player would walk right past it without a second look.It lacks the wine bottles

Final score :12
1) Game Efficency (Collision; polys) 3
2) Overall In Game Appearance (modeling, texturing) 2
3) Texture Quality (how good the texture is) 2
4) If it fits the theme. 5

Domray's industrial fan:
The best out of the lot. Its perfect I would have liked to see one or two changes made to the grit. This would make a great floor or ceiling fan as well.

Final score: 17
1) Game Efficency (Collision; polys) 4
2) Overall In Game Appearance (modeling, texturing) 4
3) Texture Quality (how good the texture is) 4
4) If it fits the theme. 5

Fred's wall mounted fire exstinguisher:
A great model as well. however I dislike the textures makes it hard to fit with other textures.

Final score: 15
1) Game Efficency (Collision; polys) 4
2) Overall In Game Appearance (modeling, texturing) 3
3) Texture Quality (how good the texture is) 3
4) If it fits the theme. 5

Smitho's clock:
A cute clock limited use not fond of the texturing used.

Final score :14
1) Game Efficency (Collision; polys) 4
2) Overall In Game Appearance (modeling, texturing) 3
3) Texture Quality (how good the texture is) 2
4) If it fits the theme. 5

OlEG's Curtain:
Great idea does need a lot of work to get that perfect effect

Final score :12

1)Game Efficency (Collision; polys) 2
2) Overall In Game Appearance (modeling, texturing) 2
3) Texture Quality (how good the texture is) 3
4) If it fits the theme. 5

Eldest Dragon's light:
Can’t say much here…

I loved what you guys did I hope it gets even better and bigger next time around.

I just got Tyrano's e-mail; I didn't realize I was a judge until he pointed it out, lol. I'll have to wait till I get on my desktop where the dial-up connection isn't quite so [insert special word here].

I'll post my results later on today, hopefully.

Bullshock's axe:

Although I didn't think that this one fit the theme very well, it was a clean model with a good solid texture.

Final score: 15

1) Game Efficency (Collision; polys) 5
2) Overall In Game Appearance (modeling, texturing) 4
3) Texture Quality (how good the texture is) 3
4) If it fits the theme. 3

Duplex's wine rack:

I found a lot of uneven modeling in this one, including some pieces of wood that didn't go all the way into the frame. Also, there are un-neccessary polys that could be deleted on the outside of the frame (where you joined the back to the main body). The texture was a good start, but could use some work. I do like the thought of using existing FPSC wine bottles to fill it with.

Final score : 11
1) Game Efficency (Collision; polys) 2
2) Overall In Game Appearance (modeling, texturing) 3
3) Texture Quality (how good the texture is) 2
4) If it fits the theme. 4

Domray's industrial fan:

This was my favorite one. The mesh is clean, and the texture fits it well; it blends with the other stock media. Great work.

Final score: 19
1) Game Efficency (Collision; polys) 5
2) Overall In Game Appearance (modeling, texturing) 5
3) Texture Quality (how good the texture is) 4
4) If it fits the theme. 5

Fred's fire exstinguisher:

Most of the mesh was pretty clean, although you could stand to lose some poly count in the strap (it doesn't need to be round, should be more squared off). The texture is typical Fred, but doesn't blend well with the other stock media. Still a good model overall.

Final score: 14
1) Game Efficency (Collision; polys) 4
2) Overall In Game Appearance (modeling, texturing) 3
3) Texture Quality (how good the texture is) 2
4) If it fits the theme. 5

Smitho's clock:

This one was a pretty cute idea, and definately has a place in that type of fantasy setting; but there were way too many polys used for what it was. The alignment/cropping of the clock face could use a bit of tweaking, otherwise a nice model.

Final score :14
1) Game Efficency (Collision; polys) 3
2) Overall In Game Appearance (modeling, texturing) 3
3) Texture Quality (how good the texture is) 4
4) If it fits the theme. 5

OlEG's Curtain:

I really liked the texture on this one. I'm not sure what program you're using to triangulate this model with, but it appears to be doubling the amount of polys in the top frame area. Try to delete a few of those un-needed ones.

Final score : 16

1)Game Efficency (Collision; polys) 3
2) Overall In Game Appearance (modeling, texturing) 4
3) Texture Quality (how good the texture is) 4
4) If it fits the theme. 5

Eldest Dragon's light:

As was said, this model is way too high-poly for a game model. The texture isn't bad, but you need some highlights to make the geometry stand out more. Cut down on the polys.

Final score : 10

1)Game Efficency (Collision; polys) 1
2) Overall In Game Appearance (modeling, texturing) 2
3) Texture Quality (how good the texture is) 2
4) If it fits the theme. 5

___________________________________________________________________

All in all these were all good efforts; some of you really need to work on your scale issues though. Congratulations to everybody; the community will definately benefit from this joint effort.
