Also it's not that you need to take away, its just the custom stuff you have is too high polly, like that arched cieling.A lower polly version would do just as good. Just curious how many pollies are in that arch segment?

I agree with Disturbing (who should send me some mail, btw ) - Use low poly and plaster it with high res textures, that was what we did.

It`s not a bug, it`s a feature

LOL sorry bout that, comp troubles . I'm back up and in action now with mail sent.

@small fish-BTW I could make you a lower polly version of the arch if its too high.

Right I'm not really very good at the technical stuff so how can I reduce the poly count on custom entities? I think when I was reading the tutorials for milkshape I might have read something about poly reduction. As for how many polys the archway has I'm going to have to get back to you on that one.
btw the arch is just the corner segment for the one of the sci-fi rooms that came with fpsc but turned into an entity and placed on its side.
Oh and thanks for posting

Ahh it may sound silly but there may be a slight gap literally 1 tiny little gap that is causing a "leakage" and it is slowing things down. The stairways are off a bit(by defaults FPSC) and it does the same. I'll cook you up one for an arched cieling and offer it up to the forum as well as a low polly staircase.

Thanks Disturbing you don't mind if I retexture it do you? Anyway as I said in my last post new screen shots these are of a monastery built into and around a cave so there’s stalagmites coming though the roof and cool stuff like that problem being though is that I can't find the right textures for the level so the final result might not look like these pics

a good way to make things look more uniform is to make your own segments by just copying the segment fpe renameing the copied one and altering the line with the texture name with one of your own. Then take the textures and open them all in an art program and play with the contrast and hue levels till they look more uniform. This is what I do and it makes mismatched textures look more uniform. Oh and ofcourse you can retexture it. Butterfingers did a great job of texturing and adding to the model with his Xiao Khan version wich includes a sword now.

Here it is from another view point sadly with my non existent animation and unwrapping skills I can only making this into a statue at the moment but I will try to learn how to animate some time in the future but I only have the time to make a static entity right now

As for the uniform textures idea I will give it a go but what did you think of the actual textures is the pinkish stone ugly does anyone mind that the texture I use for the cave is a brick texture?

the shoggoth/man hybrid looks more like a Thrall or a version of Deep one (such as in 'Dagon') a shoggoth is more a blob with a ton of eyes and acidic excretions from the skin.
As for the texture, it's really your creation and entirely up to you. So if it looks fine to you then it's cool.
Between this project and 'Anderson's LOC' You guys have inspired me to do my own Lovecraft short, but I won't go into detail here as not to highjack your thread.

Google him and read of effectively the "Steven King or Clive Barker" of the 1930's and 40's. He essentially pioneered the genre "Cosmic Horror"

did I say shoggoth opps its been years since I read the storys and I only read two or three of them most of my info is picked together from the video games and occasionally playing the table top rpg with some old friends I don’t see any more. I guess I just got a shoggoth confused with a dagon as for making your own sure why not the more the merrier just don't make it to good or it will just make my game look crud as for who’s hp lovecraft you can find he’s books free on the internet but a word of warning the books where made in the 1920s so there kind of politically incorrect in some of the things he says his a bit of a racist frequently referring to evil voodoo magic used by half breeds and mongrels but if you look past the racism there quite good short storys

I just checked my mail thanks for the stone texture Disturbing I will give it a go and post the results here btw all the levels are finished now I just have to put together a script and start work on the cut scenes and the voice recording since this tale stars a different man I going to have to ask someone on the forum to voice him it’s at lest a page or twos worth of text do you think anyone’s will be willing to do that much talking for free?

I might give it a go if you want. I even have this great voice changing program to alter the tone as needed. Oh BTW Dagon is the god that the 'Deep Ones' worshiped. So you would probbably be doing a man/deepone. They start as human but around the age of 30 they start to look a bit more 'fishy' and eventually make the change to a full deepone.

that’s it I'm doing some research
as for voice acting I not sure if I should give you the script won't that ruin the game for you to know what’s going to happen I mean you and Ertlov are pretty much my only fans I would prefer it if you guys played though the game not knowing what’s going to happen. as for voice changing programs I thought they can only change your voice so that it's robotic or speed it up or slow it down? If threes a free program that can give me an American accent that would be grand

nope i just bought one called Screaming Bee and it analizes your own voice and alters tones and such to create a completely different voice. It does have robotic as well as monstous effects but it also has a variaty of different male and female human voices.
I totally understand about not useing my voice, so it's cool.

on a completely unrelated note what does it mean In milkshape when a imported x file model is red I imported the zombie model from fpsc to turn into a statue of the a Thrall or what ever it is my sister made I still haven't come up with a name for it and the models faces where red I made the model anyway and the thing worked fine in fpsc but in game the lighting went all funny on the model
I’m not really describing this well so here is a picture

wow looking good! It doesn't mean anything really if the model is red. In allot of modelers you can tone the faces more for a grouping function since it doesnt show in game. So don't be bothered with it, just keep on with the project as normal.

Is it the programs not working on your comp or the .wav file that come from them not work propperly? If you have to look for 'audacity' and import them into there and fix what problems there may be in it.

they simply refused to install I can't remember the exact words used for screaming bee it said something about not finding files and the other one which was from a website called audio for fun said something about size being to small size of what I'm not sure I'm going to redownload screaming so at the very lest I can tell you what didn’t work as for voice acting from the forum people have not offered to say all that text I did say there was a lot.

Disturbing 13 I just listened to the Voice samples that you gave me there BRILLANT and you made it more accurate thank you so much if you would I want you to help me if all my future chtulhu games and not just with the voice acting I want you to check the scripts for inaccuracies and rewrite bits that are corny or badly written because when it comes to writing fiction I'm a rank amateur so yet again thank you I will upload tomorrow

Not a problem. I read lovecraft to my wife and daughters and try to toss in some voice acting when I do, so I figured I'de give your script a shot and alter it with Screaming Bee. As for inaccuracies, I'm sure I'de get the same results if I were to try to write dialouge for a character from the UK. It's just dialect vs propper grammer. I didn't know if you wanted the rest so get back with me when you can.

Same here, bout to test.
EDIT- The story was great, but the only issues I had with the game was framerate and some minor minor technical issues. What version of FPSC are you running again? Ive got a gig of ram and a decent card and I had spots where it was 6fps. Its obvious allot of thought went into the design of levels because these really rocked. Loved the statues as well, great likenesses, plus the sketchwork was very nice. I hope those sketches are some previews of what we can look forward to in the future. This is probbably my faul;t but the soundclips sounded kinda messed up in some of the cutscenes , not all but some. But as I said that's probbably my crappy recording skills. One thing i would have done is set the player hurtfall distance to 150, that eliminates staircase'falling' and I see you put the 'otherworld' levels on the same 'level' as the current one wich eliminates the hurtfall deal also. I loved the radioshow clip.Oh one of the rocks n the cave is kinda dangerous, as I walked up it accidentally and pased through the cieling, luckily i was able to get down but i was able to see the layout pretty well. I'm not sure if this is just the sprite pack or not but some of the water decals overlapped making a visible line. Hand placing those things is hard so I just press 'b' twice to lock it to the center when placeing. Are the raindrops part of the spritepack or custom media, because that was a nice touch. The mood and story were great and once again true to the Lovecraftian feel. I'm looking forward to seeing where the next chapter goes.

You liked it YES just hearing a fellow lovecraft fan say they enjoyed it makes it all worth the effort of making. Right now on to the faults first when did it drop to 6 fps it never ever went that low when I tested it and I’m still on vers1.04 rc2 because I downloaded the upgrade but never got round to installing it the next game will be ver1.05. As for the sound clips you think they were bad you never heard the ones me and my sister recorded they were awful. All the sprites were from the sprite pack you can buy from the fpsc website or the stuff that came with fpsc I would recommend buying the sprite pack its well worth the money I’m sorry about the water overlapping I didn’t know about the press b thing must off missed it when I read the manual as for the hurt fall consider it done for the future games.
The next game has Sam visiting the town of Gravesmire or at lest it did you see Gravesmire was originally a badly disguised innsmouth and since your game is going to be set in a small rural fishing village I fear my small rural fishing village will look like a poor copy of yours so maybe I should slightly change the setting.
oh and the monsters from the sketches I will try to make them but no promises my last attempt at animating was a total disaster but then I tried it using only milkshape I am going to look in to useing animation tools.
