I think the reason so little women actually enter programming is the fact that there is a myth around the whole subject of it being a male skill. Perhaps if you saw the female programmers getting the accolade as well as the guys then it'd be different

But then again the women would have to do something remarkable and some form of achievement to get noticed in this way.
