I run on:

Did you read the spec? He runs with a NVidia Geforce 8800... I don't know how hard that was to figure out.

Anyway, I'd suggest updating your nforce drivers and perhaps seeing if microsoft has released another version of direct x 10.

More Screenshots. I also want to see what else is new other than water and smoke. Is there anything other than water and smoke?

So far is the only thing I have seen new coming out
Soft Particles? Smoke / fire out
Dark AI
Bloom
Stencil Shadows
Water

How graphically intense can the game we make be, how many poly will a system capable of running the minimum specs (required for 60 fps) be able to display? 10's of thousands / Millions?

Is there anything else, what about the editor itself, are you making any changes that will enhance game play? ANy new design tools?

How big can the levels be?
How many levels?

Are explosions still sprite based, or will they be generated based on random interaction and particle effects?

I won't ask about particle weapons or anything cool like that, but could you please answer my questions regarding the others.

What fundamental changes are you making, that will make me have to have X-10? Please blow me away.

Quote: "OK, I have to say that I'm a bit angry here. You TGC guys aren't informing us of X9 developement."

Rick responded to this earlier but Lee already posted about this and, according to him,he is adding x9 compatible stuff to the current version of FPSC as he is implementing them in x10.
You just have to accept that there will be some things that this version of FPSC is not capable of.
Quote: "They need to fix the amount you can mod the engine not just the graphics, my ideas are being shot down as Im finding its limiting what you can do."

I am beginning to see you are limited in what you can do.I think it is amazing how many people blame an enigne because they can't make a game.
When they release the next FPSC source code you can do anything you like with FPSC as long as you have the proper tools, some desire and a little programming knowledge. But I will be sure to tell people like Wetham,Butter fingers,Luke and even myself that FPSC is too limiting and we should stop making games.
We had to wait a long time for the first update to FPSC and using FPSC requires patience. This is a game engine that was designed for a specific purpose and if it doesn't fill your needs you should find another engine. No engine is right for every developer.
Eventually (probably later than sooner) I am going to upgrade and get all of the stuff to run FPSC x10.
If you want an idea of some of the great stuff being made with FPSC check out Locrian and s4's game,Wetham's game or check out some of the stuff Butters is working on.
Luke even released a game called "Darkest Island" in the Showcase forum that is pretty good.
I am aware that the FPSC engine is not for everyone but just to say that FPSC is not a usable engine is nonsense.
I look forward to the continuing development of x9 as well as x10.

not necessarily new, instancing has been around for a while and was integrated into DX9, pretty much all cards above a geforce 6000 have the feature.

@ PAS

anything that supports DX10 will work, so the 8600 and anything else in the 8 series, or the soon to be ATI equivalent, will work with FPSC.

in theory that is.

My Vista has arrived, though im not in a rush to install it right now, all i need is a DX10 card, which i think im going to wait a while for, and also see what ATI have up their sleeves

Thank you, it IS awesome! And I'm proud just to be a small part of this. I don't think I'm giving anything away since Rick already mentioned it, but this will be a stock character in X10.

Just wait until some videos get posted. If you think the screenshots look cool, just wait until you see it in full resolution motion. Light and shadow fall realistically across environments and characters, metal shines and reflects as the character walks under bright lights...it's almost creepy.

As long as TGC can put most of what's been requested and then some from FPSC Classic into this new version, I think it would satisfy the FPSC community to an extent.

congratulations! i asked a while back too about developing new stock assets and am also finishing up my character, im hoping they'll like it enough to include it as well.

its something Ive been thinking about ever since the first mention of FPSC X10, it must feel great to have contributed to one of the first (or the first) DX10 applications in the world

is the alien specular color+level mapped and all textures at 2048x2048?

i didn't want to go all the way up to 2048 with mine, but the detail up close in game looked too tempting (providing it is a 2048)

I am happy. This is looking quite good.

If this doesn't work in Kubuntu 7.0, I don't plan to get it.
I may pay $50-90 for FPSC X-10, but I am not paying $100-400 for an operating system that is not all that great, and then a video card as big as my computer.

The Person99 awards go to: 1. Jack the Ripper for hardest crime scenes. 2. Peter Petrelli for most powers. 3. Superman for longest flight.

I'm also hangin' out for the ATI (which was bought over by AMD so is now called 'the new AMD') 2K series of DX10 graphics cards. But i may grow impatient and buy a Nvidia 8 series chip.

And i wouldn't be looking to pay more than $150... with my own money *evil laugh* for X10...but then id probably scrape together some money however i can and get it even still.

I would however like to see, as mentioned earlier, enemies that actually aim up or down at you when above/below you to shoot

The sad fact is that i can read script, but i just cant write it.

Will FPSC X10 be shipped? or will it be available for download purchase first until X10 cards are more common amongst average peoples computers?

John they should both work.

As stated before if the card supports DirectX 10 then it will work.
TGC i believe is using the 8800, but the lower end models will do just fine. (Always check ATI / NVidia's website's for the details and differences between the cards)

The 8600 was made to fit into laptops originally. The 8800 was to big to put in alaptop. At least thats what a store technician told me.

This may be a little off topic but after the release of X10 (can't wait but I can't even afford it anyhow) can you drag Lee out of his "X10 cave" so we can get a full V1.05? I'm looking forward to both but X10 is out of the question for me unfortunatly Also are rag-dolls being seriously considered for X9 of not? Besides the great water (good work TGC) rag-dolls are the biggest feature for me in X10. I recently looked at some in editor screenshots and noticed it seemed that every thing looked like it would in game from except the view was from above (like the enemies were holding the weapons and the lights were already coloring the scene) is this an actual feature?

Lee said that v1.05 won't be released until after he is done with x10.
The reason being (other than they are trying to finish x10) that Lee is incorporating features into this version and x10 at the same time.

So if the 8800 was a smaller card it could be stuck in a laptop? - sounds to me like the store technician is talking out of his butt, happens quite a lot actually .

Hi RickV,

Those screenshots are awesome. Surely the best you can get out of the game.

I (as a brand new user) am strongly considering to buy FPSC. Because X10 is not yet availble, but mainly because i need a special type of videocard and Windows Vista which i both do not have, and so many other.. i consider to buy the X9 version currenly available for WinXP as seen on www.fpscreator.com.
I noticed there is a 1.04 that covered a lot of bugs according to the forum users.

My question is, will FPSC 1.04 be dead from now, or is there a 1.05 comming and a 1.06?
I as a gamedeveloper (i have used stuff like Blitz3D) knows that once you start on a new prodoct, the old drive to improve the old is gone. The only drive left is the people complaining. Are you willing to share publicly the plans for the old FPSC? what is its expected lifetime from now, or is it over already?

Thank you so much. Im sure many people will apriciate your response!

FPSC looks fun. But is it?

For FPSC X10, I would like to see enemy characters have more of a flinch animation when being shot by a bullet or whatever. In ver1.xx, they don't look realistic enough. But if Lee can make it customizable for when we even import our own models and characters.

Also when the source code is released, make it easy to understand as far as commenting and/or just simplifying so we can modify more easily than ver1.xx.

what about its physis system? i mean is the physics system more advanced in the sense like half life 2 ? floating barrales in water? moving sky? vechile? relastic trees like leaves are blowing in the winds? weather effects? can now the bg in the menu be animated? the thing i had liked to see in this fpsc 10 is gravity gun...if its possible though.. u deserve a big thankx for making fpsc 10 so big ...thankx..guys..!

I have to agree with SilverMasters. Will the player physics (jumping and falling) be more realistic in FPSC X10? In FPSC, I found that objects (including the player) did not fall nearly fast enough to be realistic.
