D13:

The media in this map is amazing. It is just what I'm trying to create for this DBP game I am making...I just can't get the grunge as perfect as you did.

One method I use is changing the texture into black and white then overlaying a seamlessly tiled cloud texturewith transparency, then change it back to a RGB color pic and alter the tone to the color I wish. In this case browns , greys and sepias

Indeed, Yes make a Lovecraft game. Lovecraft doesn't translate so well to cinema mainly because the lack of understanding from the people who put up the money for it.-" What? Ya gotta horror picture and it ain't got no nekkid broads? Nah throw some floozies in there ,then we'll make a movie." Yeah Hollywood sucks. But the independant game creation venue where we have total control is more appreciated for keeping to the spirit of the genre.

I think I'm going to put a hold on this till the third part of Precipiece of madness comes out, as I dont want our towns looking too similar. After that the production should be very quick.

Trying to get Emboca done before the release of Anderson's addon pack. The first stage is done, I just need to add the fog and maybe a few more models as well as the 'inhabitants'. Here is an updated screenie with out fog. the original level was lost in a restore, so I took the oppertunity to completely redesign it. Emboca will definitely be best played in the dark for better screen quality.

Thanks guys, Yeah Grave and this are my bounce between games. I burn out on one and then pick up on another. Only thing is this one will be done quicker and I'll have to set up another as GraveDanger is a massive project. Right now I'm working on the official Grave website before I get back to level design with it and in the mean time Emboca is my focus.I was starting to get a bit worried because I just upped my vidcard from 128 to a 512, and wasn't sure if I had to raise the requirements for the game since I can add more and not see any effects. Good thing is I have a lesser comp with my old 128 card in it and it ran 33fps all the way through. Let's hope when more entities are added we won't get any slowdown. Here is a better lit example of the level archetecture

Those new shots look allright, did you make the segments yourself, or re tex some, or are they entities.
Nice atmosphere to these, they have a bit of character, they look lived in.

In the first of the new shots I want to see like a fountain or something. it looks too barren.

COnsidering you said they're WIP, so I'm guessin the sky and fog are a long way off, this is looking great. The second shot is flawless.

Quote: "Those new shots look allright"

Considering the quality of most stuff on here, they're near the top. Without the Aid of shaders and high poly counts etc you really can't get much nicer than this.

Dist,
can you resend the flamer? I accidentally deleted the zip and the download is no longer available!!

Well.... You better include flips... LOL jk.jk. But the game looks allrignt once it comes out I'll play.

P.S I hope you eather get some sounds from TR;or,you can do it the hard way by grabing a CD recorder and beat the living crap out of you're sister.

Ill refrain from what I really think of most stuff on here. Its even more annoying by the fact screens are not posted in the page by forums users and I have to click a link to see a screenshot of a corridor with 2 entites in it, either that or near pitch black rooms, also why exactly do poor mappers go nuts with vivid coloured lighting like a disco, they do it on every game engine.

@fallen one- yes the segments are custom with custom textures. Most segments are flat 2 polly walls. This is my 'let the textures do the talking' game. only thing that's not custom is the entities so far, I mean this is a freebie game so why reinvent the wheel if you don't need to.
Quote: "Its even more annoying by the fact screens are not posted in the page by forums users and I have to click a link to see a screenshot of a corridor with 2 entites in it, either that or near pitch black rooms"

I completely sympathise. I used to not care if it was posted in bmp or not but after seeing the same thing over and over again I can see where people get aggrivated, escecially ones with dialup.

@Butter fingers- Yeah this area is the port section next to the docks, I still have more entities to place, but your not far off from what I'm doing, because near the end of this stage is an open market like area that has a fountain. As for the flamer guy sure thing, I could only imagine the utter chaos you have gone through in the last week and probbably still are going through so I can see where something like that can happen.

@Fruitless CRUNK- .....What? I am completely baffled by what you said. I can't decipher any of it other than you'll play it,lol. What's the flips and TR? Just want to clear that up,lol.

@small fish - I accually drew inspiration from Gravesmire, If you notice the connected overhead sections. I just hope the story could live up to the successfully better and better Precipeice of Maddness series.

@i want to game- Thanks

@Fluffy- Thanks , I pretty much use Milkshape 3d for everything.

@Cheese Cake- Thanks, shouldn't take too much longer since this is a short game.

I went into an RPG grunge fishing-town making craze because of this game (before the Phoenix compo, of course). This game would look amazing in DBP, with shaders, etc. Your textures are top - notch, by the way. Very professional.

Here is another of the denziens of Emboca, the base female model. I have roughly 1 more creature model to make and then I can start on the second level.

there's a base male with maybe 6 variations and a base female with 6 variations so far. Can't put too much into making individuals just yet as I eventually need to get back to GraveDanger, lol.

I started experimenting with the last stage before the second, third and 4th stages were done and wound up finishing the last stage, lol. So now i just have to make the 3 stages in between and I will be done. S4real has generously created an all original soundtrack for this game wich is astoundingly fantastic.
Here is a shot from the final stage wich takes place on a captured rusty tug. I'll refrain from showing you whats behind you. Gotta keep some things as a suprise

Thanks! Cool thing is its all FPSC geometry, all I did was alter the textures. It's a pity that the raindrops on the deck didnt come out, I tried many times to snap a shot of it.

Nice, but the LYTE FX decal looks too big for the light. Also, try using one of the alternative textures found in the texturebank (white?) instead of the default blue.

@ mikeh926- Thanks, roofs/cielings are just floors placed with no walls.

@Inspire -the decal isnt really close to the light itself; I placed it one segment away for the effect to look well. I didnt know the light had alternate textures so thanks I'll change that.

@fallen one- thanks I'll get more up soon as I get more finished. Dont want to keep putting up the same tired level pics, lol

@Cheese Cake- did you get the set up files from here? i just used those and it works fine, just cant get good pics. You also can't see rain well unless you have something like a wall to see it against, don't know if that helped.
