And, good news! I've learned the usefulness of REM statements. See below:

OMFG. That's worse than my rem-statements, of which the most brilliant was:

I can type rem faster than I can find that button and press it.

it just takes some getting used to. my ` or rem statements are all boring stuff like what the code below it does, or why I have a bit of code somewhere and if it's temporary.

btw, nice game. I like the fire extinguisher.

An example of the awesome snowdrift that Mr. Bear walks through; it gets packed down as he walks.

Thats looking pretty funky. I like the transition between spring on one side and cold ice on the other.

I like how Mr Bears thoughts are random.

Nice use of matrices. Does he move slower in the snow (he should)?

Edit: Also try and make the amount of snow he packs down smaller than him, rather than slightly larger. It will look better and less like he has a force field around him melting the snow.

Why, thank you. Always happy to hear compliments

Quote: "Nice use of matrices. Does he move slower in the snow (he should)?"

I designed the snow as an excuse to make him move slower; I don't want him to be able to cross without buying snow gear from the store in Bear Village. No such store exists yet, but I will add one soon. Right now I'm conquering the issue of saving/loading (again; it's more complicated than in Squirrel Wars (eg. saving how many coins Mr. Bear has, where he is, how many mini-games unlocked, etc.))

Quote: "Edit: Also try and make the amount of snow he packs down smaller than him, rather than slightly larger. It will look better and less like he has a force field around him melting the snow."

If I added more tiles, Mr. Bear would go through the snow with most of his body.

I now have a background for the tutorial level, I decided that a skybox wouldn't work, so I modeled one.

That did really add. Now just add clouds... I actually do have some cartoony 2D clouds for ya?

Really, really good looking. This is going to become a great game!

Make them on a plain behind everything. Then they'll even move with the scene.

Little update

I'm going for a more cartoony feel with the graphics. In case you didn't notice, this screenshot shows the more "2d" style. I'd like to make Mr. Bear have an outline, but if I disabled his zdepth, it would create problems whenever he moved behind something. Is there a way to create an outline without disabling his zdepth?

Edit:
I set the ambient light higher and it seems to fit the "Mr. Bear" theme more. Screen:

Clone the Object, color it black, invert it and scale it slightly larger, or something. That's what they always say, something like that. At least, that's how they do it with Dream.

That's what I thought, but how would I get Mr. Bear to be seen through it without disabling his zdepth? Is "inverting" the same thing? I'm so clueless!!!

Make a clone of Mr bear. Color him black and scale him, scale object n,-100,-100,-100 it´s now inverted. Be sure to set the culling to 1. You may have to rotate him too.

[Edit] if you want a thicker outline just use a smaller value, like -102.

Thanks. Is a clone just another of the same object? Like, Mr. Bear is object 11, so the clone would be a Mr. Bear, just object 12? Or something?

It took me a bit, too. You have to rotate the clone back to normal. (Without rotation, it looked like there was an upside-down Mr. Bear inside the normal Mr. Bear.) Also, you have to animate the clone the same way as the normal character. Those are the problems I had.

Isn´t there a built-in shader in dbp for that cartoon effect? I haven´t tried it though. You can check the "Ultimate Shader Pack", maybe there´s a cartoon shader there.

Why, thank you.

Beh! I'm getting a bunch of "Dark Basic Programming Tool has unexpectedly quit"'s. When I execute the program, it runs until some sort of event like collision, then quits. It's mostly random, though. I hope it doesn't do that in the exe.
