Hi guys long time no see just been really busy as of late and had very little time to my self however on the bright side things are looking good again.A such I'm not promoting pointless assault or any thing I just posting this to get the general idea from you guys as the way forward for what I have planned.

Sadly FPSC didn't do or did it badly what I had planned. So I decided to rework every thing to make it less pointless and a little more interesting.

So I have been playing around a bit with new segments a 4x4 flat wall room didn't cut it any more I added pillars to the walls and it did some help a little but it needed some more stuff and I stopped working on P.A and got around to playing games again to get some ideas of what I should do and can do so far this is what I came up with.

I would like some good or bad criticism doesn't matter

Will be uploading some more screenies later.
Thanks guys

I'd add light sources near the white bits. Also, I'd make it slightly less white as well...

Thanks guys.

What I had planned was some water puzzles but the water rises to quickly still have to play around with the scripts.I also got A nice idea for a sort of a platform game lots of jumping levers back tracking that type of stuff to make the level longer in a good way I however decided that X10 still not being very optimized large open levels were out of the question so I decided on smaller levels 15 x 15 8 floors should be enough to keep loading times down and pack the levels with as mush as possible interactive puzzles possible.

The general idea has evolved into some thing much better.

It looks very good, even though it is a low quality video. I ordered X10, but since I live on the other side of the world from TGC, it's taking a long time to get here.

Hmmm....If X10 AI still works kinda like X9's, then wouldn't this work:

:state=0:timerstart,state=1
:state=1,timergreater=500:XXXXX,state=0

That should loop it so that every half a second, you could make it go up by the amount you want, just replace the XXXs.....

Oops, I forgot to post what I thought. I thought I already did...

Looks very nice, your level design is always pretty cool. I like how your levels don't look like the square box-like levels that most FPSC'ers make.

@Bloodeath 6 6 6 Yeah I know working on getting decals.I have Photoshop CS 2 so I might just apply the decal directly to the texture and load a static entity wall instead should look better than decals, decals seems to have a horrible mipmapping problem in FPSC.

@Mazz426
Unless you start messing around you will never know.I got MP3 working 100% now all I have to do is shaders.

thanks guys

I edited the pipe files and some how they came out white but fully textured in the game so I haven't bothered to fix it yet?

Really the best way to go, because then you can just make about 3-4 different variations and reuse them xD. plus it probably helps lag.

I think you made the enemies too easy in the video But the game ran smoother than any X9 game I've ever seen

@Punk13 I can like not to!!

@Mazz426 check you the X10 forum there is a post regarding X9 model pack migration

@Krowsnest
Nah it's not the enemies which are too easy it's the gun that needs to be tweaked...stock weapons need a few shots more.Bedsides this is only the second level and the weapons get progressively weaker and you have less health to boot.

Quote: "But the game ran smoother than any X9 game I've ever seen"
This is X10 not X9 besides my X9 levels were also optimized there are still some problems with this one and requires some more work but the frame rate drops to about 40 however there are some noticeable drops here and there.

Looks wicked! Great work as always, Wizard. But I agree with Inspire, the specular is a bit too shiny.

thanks guys

Yeah I'm working on getting a spec maps perfect.I must say that having shaders is worth all the effort and time. It's just the working in XP and and then booting to vista which gets me down because most software doesn't work in vista....
On the plus I have started making textures again I like this one quite a bit very dark..

Again the spec maps aren't perfect but it's just a test

Yeah being busy with some more ideas and of course a whole lot of problems that come with it...

But......I'm flirting with importing maps again it's time consuming but it's over all effect will be worth it.

here is a complete level import so only one texture sadly. The final result will be importing bit by bit or sections that have the same textures....

Like I said time consuming but worth it Oh BTW if your wondering about collision detection problems no problems what so ever.Sadly this is a little secret I'm keeping to my self for the time being..

So what do you guys think??

Sort of a late response Wizard, but I knew it was in x10. i was just stating how fluent it ran compared to all my games (x9) and many others. Sorry for the confusion

btw new screens look great

Looking ver sexy dude. It might just be the screenies, but the bloom looks just a wweeeee bit too saturated. I personally think it could be toned down a bit. You've got the water looking very real, but the light is just a little too bright. Good job though!

The ONLY thing I don't like about the first screen is that the edge of the water seems too straight. It's not really your fault, it'd be nice if the water plain wasn't so flat (I'm not sure if Lee used one big plain or one that's cut up into a bunch of pieces like I used for one of the Nvidia shaders).

Anyways, looks superb Inspires me to do something with my copy of X10, but the flaws (bad lazy gun, bad aspect ratio, slipping in/out of water repeatedly when trying to swim to the surface, stuff like that) kinda throw me away. If the aspect ratio and the lazy gun were fixed it'd be a lot better (the aspect ratio is my main problem).

Thanks for the feedback guys.Yeah it's one of the draw backs of having bloom shader applied to the whole scene at the same level however one could add tigger zones to allow bloom levels to be different from room to room.

So yeah any other news you might ask?

Not much in the development side of things however I created a clever new segment...well as such it's not a segment yet still a entity till a break it up in smaller pieces to allow it to work effectively right now I'm just testing it out to see what effect it would have.

So two screenies as always this is the first design I have made improvements on the segment like moving the support pillar to the middle of the segment instead of the end thus creating a better visual effect.

Other than that something I always wanted the quake and doom type windows that bends the same way as this segments bends so it's still a work in progress but the results look good some more added detail might do wonders.

Unfortunaly I am still waiting on my mum and dad to get me the money so I can build a DX10 rig, but right now I'm hoping there is a game that you made like this in FPSCX9? By the way, its a barebones rig im making lol. Just your basic version. DX10 512MB ATi. Nvidia way too expensive lol. But I like. It's got excellent level design. I have to use the in-game level editor because I can't do 3D level design unfortunaly. But its a great game, and I want to play it so much.

It's now GideonB but I can't change it.
Building new Barebones Linux system soon... And may dual-boot with XP and get FPSC again.
