Congrats Dave, Rick and everyone else involved

Hehe, it was supposed to be a kind-of racing game, so you have to get the best time! My best was 40 seconds
It can get quite crazy at times, because there is no limit to how fast you can fall, so if you do it right, you can often go right off the screen before you bounce of a spring

Let's all post little tricks that are possible in Social Arcade to do more advanced things. Here are some I have found:

1) Place breakable blocks to one side, or above or below a moving platform, so that it will only move when the player gets there. (I especially like this one for some reason)

2) Use falling blocks to open up the path, so the player must trigger them, so they make a hole in the floor.

3) Use falling blocks as one way moving platforms.

4) Use falling blocks to block the root to the door if they don't have the key (so they only get one chance!)

I dont know whats been suggested or planned yet but here are my suggestions:

- Either a way to set the density of a tile (0 for walking through it, 1 for colliding with it, 2 for being able to jump through it from the bottom but not the top) OR an invisible tile that is dense that you can place over certain things youd rather be dense. This could also allow for interesting hidden "bonus" paths.

- A way to browse for your own media would be awesome but I doubt that would happen understandably.

- Waypoints for the enemies. You could add the waypoint system to everything, allowing you to make moving items, more dynamic moveing platforms out of any tile, or scrolling backgrounds.

Nevermind I just realized that was possible.

A layers system would be nice. It looks like the scenery has a layers system in place, but I cant figure out if its possible to make items go over top of the player, things in the foreground. Im trying to make the player walk behind a pillar, is that possible right now?

One problem I had was that you could jump through tiles that you set as OK to jump through, but you couldn't spring through them. Is this deliberate?

Ruccus - Yes, It is possible right now. Depth of object by default is sortid auto but you can turn that off by clicking the settigs button (in the edit game mode) and unticking "auto depth sort". Once the auto is off you can double click an object, select properties (it pops up above the object) and use bring forward/send back etc to arrange things manually.

Insert Name Here - It was deliberate to avoid problems using the springs in other genres that treat platforms differently, but it kind of spoils them in platforms so I was thinking of switching them back to allow jumping through.

A simple tile creation system would be awesome. Kind of like the editor in BYOND if you've ever seen it; its basically just a 32x32 canvas with basic paint toolsm and then there's an animator which just lets you draw each frame for each direction of movement of the icon. It gets a little more advanced with overlay tiles and unique animation files like dying, being shot, etc, but that could always be looked into later.

I just think if this is going to be considered more serious towards actual indis instead of the common facebooker wanting to make a supermario clone, something like custom tiles would be extremely useful. Then when the tile is done you just specify what type it is.

Obviously the two big issues with that though are the opportunity for others to design inappropriate content, and the fact that you're going to have to store all of that content somewhere.

5) Set floor tiles as doors to make traps or escape routes.

What is your game called? I can take a look at it for you and see if there is a problem

[Edit] I've found your game, I'll take a look at it tomorrow, first look shows its all there intact, i'll work out what the prob is and get it fixed

[Another Edit!] Found the prob, messages with < or > in cause a problem, I'll fix that and upload a new version tomorrow. Don't worry about game size - games can be enormous

Just made a huge game

(Took AGES setting all the tiles of the maze to solid!)

It's called "Journey Down"
It takes me almost 4 minutes to complete, and I know all the shortcuts!

If you want to know how to put a link to a game, just use this as the URL:

Darth - No problem - it's real good at knocking something up quick Good luck with your ideas

Diggsey - That's a very good game, great use of the behaviours I think maybe an option to change the behaviours of a certain type of object all at once would be a good idea for me to put in to save you that pain

Just had a play with this, very easy to use, nice idea, but it would be better if one can import ones own graphics and art assets.

Would love to see a 2d version of fpsc, ie easy to use 2d game maker, that doesnt require programming skills to make a game, this apears to be on that line, I would love to see an offline version. I think that would be a great seller, also could have its own store for art assets. I think it would be a better seller in terms of business than FPSC, the market needs and easy to use 2d game maker, the ones on the market are not as easy to use as they should be, they say no programming, but the way the work is so clunky, it would be easier to get dark basic and code the thing, so I think there is a massive gap in the market. Im looking forward to new TGC products, I hope to see new products coming from TGC, rather than endless fixes for FPSC, once you add dark AI into fpsc I think that should be it and move onto other ventures.

Diggsey - how did you "cheat" at Bird Hunt before your score was carefully and methodically removed?

@BatVink
I talked to Dave about it, and it's much harder to cheat now (although not impossible)
Basically, all I had to do was use an app to search through the memory for 4 bytes which had the value of the current score. Then get some more points, then filter the results by the new score, until there is one address left.
I could then set that to anything I wanted.

Now though, there is some sort of encryption on the score value.
(Although you can still find the address eventually, by filtering by a 'changed' value, it takes so long that I don't think anybody is going to be bothered to do it!)
