Thanks for the comments eevribody!

Bugsy:

Quote: "are those valve pipes in the little maintencance gantry?"

Don't know what you mean with valve pipes. Valve pipes or the VALVE pipes? Because Kravenwolf used Half-Life 2's pipes as a reference . If you meant real life stuff then I don't know. I'm not a pipe expert although I should be because of my profession

Metal Devil123:

Thanks! Hehe.. it's awful isn't it . And I'm pretty ashamed about the song I composed for that trailer. The solo guitar sounds like a moarning cat or something

DarkJames:

Weapons.. yeah. I'll probably give a sneak peek on the weapons when I start to work with the city levels

michael x:

By seeing everything you mean that the player can go to every room? That's nice because that's what I'm trying to achieve A free roaming feeling while the level is in fact a tube. Or did you mean the lighting? . Yeah I'm not a big fan of dark places where you can't see anything. It's effective as small sections every now and then, but games built around darkness is not very nice in my opinion at least.

I must agree, as pitch blackness is impossible in nature, I appreciate someone putting some realism into a game. your office looks incredibly convincing.

Thanks Bugsy! The main reason why it looks realistic is that my favorite part in design is, that the whole level is ready, but there are some small details and tweaks here and there. I open up the first level almost every day just to skim through it and find some improvement or places for detail . All this with nice music from my headphones

I find levels ALWAYS come out better when you've got some rockin' tunes to listen to!

I listened to AFI when I did When Worlds Collide level 8!

(and 7,6,5,4,3,2, and 1 for that matter)

Indeed! And my best time of day to develope is late at night. I don't know, my brains sorta work better when I'm slightly tired and I'm overall more creative . This is almost turning into a psychological conversation, lol.

Anyways, back to work with level 2!

I like late at night too, as usually I get all my best ideas as I start to try to sleep, and I don't feel like writing them down or turning my computer on to commit them to editor.

we'll continue this convo elsewhere- do you have MSN or skype?

Thank you anayar for the donation of Massive Overlay Pack

Btw about your email. The game doesn't completely take place in an office Only the first two levels. There will be city streets, sewers, schools and stuff like that

Okay, looking forward to it

Some good news: After around 2 months break, Kravenwolf contacted me on Skype. This means that he'll start to work with city models for me any time soon. I myself am excited at least because this time (unlike in the times of old Vague) I can create any type of city I want to . Basically only limits are the 2gb cap and map size.

Isn't that 1,8gb max? Anyway...
BTW: You mean these:

Saw them yesterday and now that you mentioned cravenwolf city models then I got that in mind...

As far as I know, the cap is 2gb but FPSC is "warning" the user with the 1.8gb so that if you get any further, the level may not work. I'm not 100% sure. It doesn't really matter does it

And about those Kravenwolf videos, hmm. I did talk about city model packs with him somewhere in March-June, but I'm pretty sure those models in the video are not for me. I mean, he would have told me if he made the pack . He always keeps me up to date.

In the setup.ini file, look for the systemmemorycapoff=1 line and change the 1 to a 0, this will increase the cap from 1.8Gb to 2.0Gb.

Found that tip in another thread, sorry, can't remember which one lol.

First Time that I see FPSC Office Levels that don't look completely rubish!

Awesome job on the athmosphere.

I'm seriously looking forward to this and I already had the honor to test an old test version

Nice use of my texture enhancements! It really gives the whole office a realistic feel. (And I know what offices feel like...pure survival horror to work in one )

Why not integrading music from you and your band?

Thanks Wolf!

I'm actually going to suggest to the guitarist if we could make a credits song for Vague . Some 3 minute melancholic rock. Now the only problem is to make the credits last enough. Well I guess I'll have to give credit to all my deceased pets, broken pencils and all that

I would suggest an accoustic song too.

If you ever played silent hill? The slow songs had far more impact on the athmosphere than those horror/ambient sounds.

I'm ashamed to admit that I've never actually played SH, except the demo on my PS1. I've never been too keen on Silent Hills, mainly because I'm a hardcore Resident Evil fan (which has given me alot of inspiration for Vague too).

Darn.. thanks Wolf I actually started to write the lyrics for Vague's credits song. Way better activity than sleeping in my opinion ^^

@Juzi, you may find the light entities in my newest pack (http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=175793&b=24&p=1) useful, I think they could fit the theme

EDIT: NVM - Forgot you already saw it and posted Sorry lol.

Wolf:

Are you referring to the xylophone that marks the vocals? It has to be there. There's another option though.. Me singing over the songs but that would kill them, no doubt, lol.

PW Productions:

Haha! I'm so unnoticable .

But yeah, I'm sure you noticed in your thread that I said I'm going to use it in my personal projects just for fun, not for Vague. The reason for this is that I want to keep all the entities the same style (Kravenwolf). This is a way to graphical success in my opinion atleast. But I do use all the overlays people keep giving to me because they don't usually have any particual style. They are just flat panels to spice up the level a litte (or gore up).

SMALL UPDATE

After 12 hours of song writing and composing, Vague's credits song (computer made version) is ready. Please tell me what you think.

This is the piano arrangement of the song with no lyrics, as the lyrics would spoil the game's plot. Enjoy

Sounds awesome... Poetf of the Fall inspired much? But yeah, I would definetly have that on my MP3.

Thanks mate! I haven't showed the song to the rest of the band yet and am a bit worried about their answer since they like more heavier stuff.

Everyone keeps saying that about my newest songs . I don't know.. maybe I've listened to them so much that I'm subconsciously composing their new album

Yep. They are my favorite band of all time

And I use Renoise with all my musical work. Google it up

EDIT:

Not to go completely off-topic, here's some news of the game itself:

Decneo has finished a huge model pack for this game and I'll be experimenting with it when I get home. Expect a screenshot or two later today! (Not a promise because anything can happen in the world of FPSC.)

Thanks anayar! I wouldn't have imagined my music would sound that good to all of your ears

Quote: "Cant wait til you post the final recording of the song"

I have thought of 2 options now: If I get the rest of the band interested in the song (guitarist seemed to like it), we are going to record it with real instruments and vocals. Don't ask me how, haven't thought about it that far yet.

The second option is that if the rest of the band won't like it, or if we can't rent a studio or something like that, I'm going to make a better sounding instrumental from the song and put it to the credits. It will lose half of its power without lyrics but you can't get everything

You can see music? Can you also hear paintings and smell videos?

Quote: "Don't ask me how, haven't thought about it that far yet."

That's the spirit!

Depends if you are going to sell the project, but maby you could try and email the guys at POTF and ask if you may use one of their songs in the credits? My friend asked the same kinda thing from Sodom and they agreed. Just to prove that they actually MAY answer.

Actually that has been my intention from the start. One of my big dreams in game creation is to have POTF's song in my credits. Yeah I know, weird . After hearing Late Goodbye in Max Payne's credits, I've always wanted to do ending credits that actually make the player think what happened in the game.

I might email them when the game is broadly ready.

It seems you too are excited

Small update:

As I already announced, Decneo is currently working on the zombie characters of Vague. He's been running some performance tests and the results are quite good! On his rig (3gb RAM, dual core processor @ 2.4GHz and nVidia Geforce 8400), he got 48-54 FPS with 22 zombies! Gotta love low poly!

Another good news is that I've hired a new modeller because Kravenwolf seems to be kinda busy with his projects. The new modeller is mgarand and he's now basically modelling all the entities of Vague, and maybe something else too

That's the news for now. Stay tuned for the in-game zombie shots!

Yep, glad to have you in the team

Like I promised, here's a screenshot of the zombies. They only use a basic fastbone shader at the moment, but they will eventually get a nice custom shader which adds nice detail to them, like shining blood.
