I'll have to edit my animated one... Damn, that'll suck.
Here's the ammended animation:

( 50 frames @ 2.094KB total )

Oh well.

BTW Rich, When you select the remaining few, you said that the community get's to pick which ones go up ( in a rotated fashion ).
How will you do this? Via a poll of some-sort?

Jess.

Yargh FORUM?
I learned to use the term Forums from this site because I always used Forum before. I read so many posts that used Forums that I changed to Forums.

Changed my Images...

Done. And np, the script itself is actually really simple so it didn't take long to make.

Forum
<messaging> (Plural "fora" or "forums") Any discussion group
accessible through a dial-in BBS (e.g. GEnie, CI$), a
mailing list, or a Usenet newsgroup (see network,
the). A forum functions much like a bulletin board; users
submit postings for all to read and discussion ensues.

hmmm....this isn't a dial-in BBS, mailing list or newsgroup. This suggests thousands of internet hosts are incorrectly using the term forum. Or perhaps the definition needs updating to reflect newer technology and methods.

Ah, the good ol' days, BBS services on a 2.4K dial-up, DOS based menus

Actually Batvink, your definition reminded me that what we are actually using now is termed "Bulletin Board", hence UBB, YaBB, VBB and all those other crappy names. So, the overall board would be called a "Bulletin Board" and I've noticed that most BB's term the individual sections ("General Talk", etc) as 'Forums', whether that's correct or not is unknown to me. This BB term also somewhat fits the definition:

Quote: "
bulletin board
n.
A board on which notices are posted.
Computer Science. A system that enables users to send or read electronic messages, files, and other data that are of general interest and addressed to no particular person.

I have a question. Does it matter if our entries say Apollo or Forum? Which is preferred, or does it not matter at all?

It's gone.

There's currently 96 on the list and quite a few people haven't even added their's yet! If you haven't added yours yet, please do, again, it's not compulsory to add it but it would be cool if you do so we have just one list to look at rather then sifting through many pages of text.

I don't know why, but currently the http://www.tgcapollo.tk URL is down, they say it's only temporary so I hope it will be working later.

Lol that's because I'm working on it right now, I'm madly uploading, editing, and reuploading. It's VERY easy to get the filesize of local files but whenever I try and get a remote file's size, it doesn't work.

Just figured it out, lol, apparently all my Banner URL's had some random byte added to the end of them (I suspect the new line character), I actually thought they would have that when I first made the script but because it worked and the images showed up I just figured I was mistaken lol. Anyway, removed the byte from the strings, passed them into the function and it works (for most files anyway).

damn no. i see my images are down again. but what should i do? my t-online.de imagehost is blocked by peoples firewalls, batvink suggested to go to vibrahost/imagehost and there was something like 99.9% uptime of the servers, i guess now is that 0.1 % downtime. atm i can't do anything about it. at weekends i go home to my parents, where there is no internet connection, right now i'm at a friend to repair his internet connection (obviously it worked) and now i see this. damn. i'll have to look into it on monday. sorry guys so far

@Exeat

Any chance of splitting the list up into pages? (Say 20 per page) - Should be pretty easy to add.

Very easy to add. I was just wondering how many pages, maybe user-specified and I might also specify whether or not to display Filesize/Filetype because that slows down the loading quite a bit. I'll probably also make the banners load in reverse order so the most recent are at the top.

All the changes have been made. Sorry for the hour or so that I've been messing around with it, couldn't decide on how to show the options. Should be good now though. All your options are stored in a cookie on the computer for 30 days so that should easily be enough for the duration of the competition plus anytime afterwards that people want to keep looking at the banners for lol.

Oh yes, and the 'Display File Info' option drastically slows down the loading of the page so I recommend leaving it off unless you particularly want to see file sizes and file types. Jess gave me an idea on how to speed this up though so I'll probably fix it tomorrow.

I might also add that if you actually look at the PHP source code it's the most horrible looking thing you'd ever seen, I'm sure Rasmus Lerdorf would be spinning in his grave if he were dead... and I'd wager a bet that he's hunting me down right now.

Why don't you just store that in the database? If you have enough space, I suggest copying the images over to your own server, as that will give you much more flexibility over what to do with them - and the user will be warned if they try to submit something with the wrong URL.
