n1.. making decent progress' how long you been studying dbp for? ive been around since db days, made a few mini games but nothing realy which was going to break my b*lls

i was pondering creating my gfx *anime*, and forming it into some sort of rpg then leading it onto mmorpg when i feel comfortable. but i still havent sussed online gaming with dbp yet.. i can get connection, host and see clients' but im unable to see the player objects move around' have a feeling its net send problems, realy need to look back at that!
hehe

Daikanu Online: less then 2,000 lines of code (its broken up into smaller code file and has some things remmed out and lots of spacing so I can look at it right (all the letters and number mess with me))
Map editor: less then 516 lines (spaces included)

Cool, how do you go about making an editor, it baffles me. And also I can't wait to see the finished thing! You should reply to your MMORPG stoyline thread.

well it depends on which one you make sofar I only made a matrix editor its quite easy

See I just added smoothing thanks to red eye and It looks alot better iam gonna make my own version of smoothing because the RE one can take a very big tile and reduce it to be really small..but it works

yeah It probably not that hard I think all you need to do is have it know what object were loaded(numbers) then the positions etc
then just make it load the objects and place them at there position
<- thats just for the saving and loading the other part should be easy just make something that allows you to load object on call and position etc and save

ok I have planned out the size and the total size of the world is 1,081.08 Square miles.....most of it is water heres the land size
604.8 Square miles.. if about roughly what I have planned out becuase each Matrix is 1.89miles squared and four matrixes to a Quadrant and 80 quadrants (320 matrixes) so its would probably take me a couple of weeks to make the whole island with my Matrix editor I make a quadrant a time think thats tooo big or small? Iam not trying to have a typical MMORPG were its has huge asm levels and 900 level cap XD I just want the feel of a island but big enough so that it doesnt seem crouded..

Cool, an island setting. But seriously 900 level cap? You should tone it down to like 300 if you really want it to be so high, and you could make leveling up much harder than it usually is in MMO games. But about the size, I can't be a judge there. You should split it up into different cells for a quicker frame rate too.

>_> that was a joke the 900 thing...I wouldnt do that xD yeah its divided up to small pieces and Iam working on my World Editor which I use the file from the Matrix editor and I just build what each section looks like with objects...

If you look at traditional MMO games it really really hard to just level up without doing any massive series of quests. The only one I recall that had easy lvl-upping is Priston Tale.

Helluva lot faster than the usuals though...like Everquest. I got to level 12 in a few days, playing on and off, but it took my friend a month to get to level 12 in Everquest, playing right after school everyday for at least 3 or 4 hours a day, closer to 8 on weekends.

I shall tease you.

My dude is so cool, everybody fears the name "Chickenchaser". I'm scary, yet hot at the same time. I walk by and ladies' hearts instantly fill up while men applaud and/or move outta my way. Occasionally I'll see a man with a heart, if I see that I beat the living snot out of him, and if he still doesn't get the message his head is my soccer ball.

My guy is named Death Bringer and is the guy everyone wants to be, I killed Whisper, and now her bro is out to kill me! Now, back on topic, what will you be able to do in the game other than fight, can you fish or mine or dig for treasure or steal?

yes all all the features in the 2d one will be in the new one
So mining,Fishing,Foraging,Stealing(thieves class),Item making those systems are very easy to make and its gonna be easy to make em then in the 2d one becuase the language is better the game isnt really revolveing around leveling but more exploring and finding out the mystery of Daikanu Island

when i first heared of fable i thought it would be long and exciting but after playing it all night because it was so addictive i relized how small it was it took under 9 hours to complete and it wouldnt let me continue which is stupid that it gives you all that money for the last quests and you cant spend it or power up as the building is on fire. but im sure it will be better online.

Any spelling mistakes are totally In tensional.

ok the first test map is almost done sofar the 1.89 square mile map is 8-9kb...there gonna be like 100+ of these so the maps in total are gonna be about 1 -3 megs for the whole map..if that too small for a whole world? iam hoping to have 600+ square miles of land but its estimated that it will only be 1-3 megs since a Cell block only is 8-9kbs.. so hopefully this will be a high quality game but will work on most pcs (99 - now) kinda like X-2 for PS2 its has better looks then FFX1 but has less polys then FFX1

Sorry to get off topic again Oneka, to continue playing Fable you have to watch the credits.
Now, back on topic, what will the characters look like realistic, or anime or western fantasy? How diverse will customization be, and will it affect how your character is at skills?

ok ok iam having iam deciding how you make the character later but you can choose so far hair, eye color, hair color, facial hair
you have a set of classes when you reach a certain level you can duel class...and when you level up you get skill points to train up your character in attributes ontop of what you gain for your class like naturally a Mage get more intelligence when leveling but if you uuse your skill points you can raise strength hp defese w/e you want so you can basically customize you character anyway you want
