<edit March 2006>

Here's an updated version of Space Weaver - it's way over 20 lines now, but as it's an update of the same game, I thought I'd post it here. It's still no-media so just paste it and run it. Controls are:

Shift - accelerate
Ctrl - decelerate
Arrowkeys - up/down/left/right

and a little screenshot:

</edit>

And the original 20 line version:

(Controls: Mouse controls the spaceship; left button speeds up, right button slows down.)

That's pretty cool looking ship Ric! Fun game too! A little tough once you get moving - but you do warn about that.

Ok, first well done, the game looks great and plays well too..only problems are:
* I held my finger on left mouse button all the way there and didnt crash once yet couldnt get to the first checkpoint...im always 2 seconds short.
* If you restart mid crash the ship will be facing the wrong way.

Like I said, amazing game for 20 lines but I'd love to be able to get past the first checkpoint...i know its possible as the guys above have !

[EDIT]
Ah I see it has no delta time system, i guess mine is just running slower than other peoples

Its 20 lines because each line is a thousand million miles long!

Each line is 25 commands long, as per the rules of the 20 line challenge! You could try creating something in 20 lines at one command per line, but it probably wouldn't be very good!

Ric, did you use the compressor or did you do it by hand?

(Just curious)

You know, I think I did it by hand, and it was so tedious that I then decided to write the original compressor!

Thanks!

@Snowfall - 12th line down, about half way across, is the code countdown=35-time+addedtocountdown. Change the 35 to whatever you like, and I think that should do it. I may write version 2 one of these days!

Oops - well spotted! I forgot to set the maximum speed! I guess I never dared to go that fast to test it properly. Fixed it now in the code at the top.

Nice score, by the way!

Not only is this a really nice game, the code is small, and it's a fantastic example of creating vaguely complex models, such as the ship. Purely using code.
