Quote: "Ok seriously guys Yes the Sony confrence was boring as hell, will that stop me from buying a playstation 3? No."
Even if it was good, it wouldn't change my opinion on the Playstation3 even one bit.
The Sony Playstation 3:
• Going to hit the market at $700+ (£500+)
• DualShock3 has a Rotation Sensor, but to add this they have removed ForceFeed Back features
• The base system won't have WiFi or HDMI with no possible way to upgrade it
• Sony have guarenteed a game library of 4 games on release, growing to 16 by next E3
The only reason I would buy a Playstation3 is, for Final Fantasy XIII, Metal Gear Solid 4 and/or Killzone 2. Only one of which is going to be a release title. Not being funny but I'm not spending that much money just to play a single game, I made that mistake with the Playstation2. For my gaming tastes that console didn't make sense to buy until only last year!
Quote: "Thank you to Jeku for pointing out that Nintendo did NOT invent their little "Gimmick""
The Wiitroller has been discussed here before in great detail about it's origins. I don't think anyone is denying it's not exactly innovative technology. What is being denied if that Nintendo have added it as a Gimmic, when every game has the ability to use something like this it becomes a standard. This is when it can be fully taken advantage of and become a staple part of a games development. Nintendo added the RumblePak as a 'gimmic' but it's now something that is in almost every modern console game.
Quote: "Also I want to metion that while the Nintendo Wii uses a sensor on the television to track MOTION the sony controller will be entirely wireless and inside the controller and it tracks TILT and YAW. "
I think you need to do your homework boy. The Wiitroller has 3 methods of control.
• InfraRed Screen Motion, which works like the light guns of old.
• Motion Sensiting, which includes Movement, and Rotation in a 3D envrionment.
• Traditional Analog Buttons.
What this adds is, lets say you were playing something like Virtua Tennis. With a standard controller what you'd do is move around the court with your left thumbstick and then hit it differently depending on which button you pressed, and strength determined on how hard you pressed it perhaps. Right?
With the Wiimote you'd simple move around your living/bed-room to move your character around the screen, and swing the controller to hit the ball. But this doesn't mean that will be the ONLY method for controlling the character.
Quote: "Besides at least the Sony controller doesnt look like a remote, it actually looks like a controller. Another thing I want to point out that most people dont seem to see in the Wii is the fact that wait.... Wont people get tired of flipping their arms around for hours on end trying to play their game on the Wii? I mean come on do you people actually think it is physically possible to wave your arm around for any longer then maybe if your lucky an hour? I mean I tried doing it and its impossible. At least the sony controller has the ability to double back on the dual shock controller amd you wont feel the pain because YOU DONT HAVE TO USE YOUR ARMS ALL THE TIME."
Remember there is the Wiitroller, and GameCube Controllers also supported.
Quote: "It is a gimmick but itll be fun. And then when your tired of the gimmick you can go back to traditional style play. Yes I know the Wii has that controller thing to but I mean they were really lauding this whole Remote thing, unfortunately the only people who will be able to play with it for very long will be weight lifters and body builders with strong arms. Please consider that when you go buy a Wii."
They're not designing games for only top atheletes, obviously because their usebase is going to be made up of a wide spectrum of people. This said, if you can't have 30minutes of exhertion a day atleast I feel very sorry for you. It also means that Wii gamers won't turn into lazy fat blobs, cause their games will keep them active.
Quote: "Oh and yes Microsoft has teamed up with nintendo saying that people should buy the Wii and the 360 and not a PS3."
iirc that was only the Business Representative, which tbh he has always liked Nintendo. In-fact there is a huge amount of respect at Microsoft for Nintendo, which is why the 360 has turned out the way it is. This isn't some sort of "Oh let's get Sony together", this is a simple fact of Sony are about to learn the very hard lesson that the console world doesn't revolve around Power and Names... it revolves around the quality of the games that reach the largest audience. Both Microsoft and Nintendo are trying to out-do each other; that is how I veiw this console war to be fought. Over who can reach the most new gamers, rather than who can pander to the most older gamers.
Things like DVD-HD are nice, but they don't mean much in the grand-scale of things. Microsoft know this. The Playstation 2 sold on it's Multimedia (DVD Capabilities) simply because it was a new technology that very few people had. DVD is now a staple diet, and DVD-HD is the evolution of that in the eyes of Movie Industry. While BluRay is an awesome technology, as with BetaMax; I think Sony are going to miss the boat without putting alot of money and effort into pushing their technology.
Quote: "You know what that tells me? that tells me that microsoft is afraid of the Playstation 3 and are not afraid of the Wii."
Microsoft are unafraid of the Playstation 3.
They're releasing Halo 3 on the day of it's launch, you want to know why? To show, that they are truely not afraid of the Industries giant. They have so much faith that Sony are going to fall they're willing to risk their biggest selling title.
As far as Nintendo go... Microsoft are taking them seriously.
Games like Viva Pinata aren't in development just for kicks, Microsoft are truely looking to help break the childrens market as much as Nintendo are. This is where the true competition lies for this new console generation. Not with the old seasoned gamer, but with the new gamers who are looking for gaming experiences they can enjoy no matter the age.
Quote: "Because seriously who can be afraid of a systems who's slogan is Playing is Believing? And no the Wii name will never grow on me. When i do purchase the revolution at a cheap cheap price I will call it the revolution, im not gay and I dont feel like asking everyone if they want to come down to my place and check out my wii."
That's your choice, to me you sound like a hardened Sony fanboy.
I'm personally a Nintendoid, and the Wii just seems like a step in the right direction gaming wise. This doesn't mean I'm ready to trade in my 360 though; that baby is beyond amazing imo
