So, having easily disposed of the good old Cybermen, the next two episodes are going to be practically Quatermass-like. The Doctor encounters the ultimate enemy - an entity claiming to be the Devil itself.

Now my betting money is on the Doctor. However, query where the series goes from here?? I'm getting quite worried that the writers of each episode are taking all the dramatic tension out of the programme because the Doctor is never in jeopardy and always steps in and saves the day rather handily.

I see that the Cybermen are back at the end of this series too?!

I think they really need to start visiting planets - at the moment its rather too much earth-bound (although still very good).

However, I dont think they really going for too much dramatic tension - it seems to be mainly the relationship between Rose & The Doctor and The Doctor & everyone else - in other words its becoming slightly like a soap. Perhaps they need to start making more multi-part episodes...

I do think they should start exploring the Time War.

that would be good, as i don't think they have every really said anything about it, it tends to be just referenced to

i also agree that it is becoming close to a soap, hopefully they will turn that around

talking about the cybermen episodes, the last one of them( i forget its name) but didn't it look like they used the same explosions they used in the very first episode, i know that they keep going back and using the same old disused paper mill, but i would of thought they could of created some new effects, instead of recylcing them

After accusing the show of being rubbish, I watched the Cyberman episode and the one the other day with the women sucking off peoples faces. I actually quite like the current actor for the Doctor. I thought he looked like a numpty in the adverts, but no, he's quite a cool character. Both episodes were alright and watchable, but I still thought it was a tad on the rubbish side. I hereby elivate my opinion of the new Doctor Who to "reasonable background television".

Billy Piper still does my nutt though. Why can't the programme have a bit of eye candy instead?

Question is, did you make that link during the program or did you just search around the web after looking for Dr Who Look-a-likes?

The new series is good (aside from the Queen Victoria episode), but it could do with a) being longer and b) bit more action.

Wonder if he'll continue for a 4th series ?

I was wondering that - thought they had to be near a TV for the reversal system to work.

I dont think it was ever mentioned how the reversal would work, but your method makes logical sense (not that faces being sucked into a TV makes logical sense in itself...)

I also liked the little dig at BetaMax near the end

You can't find logic in the science in Dr Who you lunatics! The science is about as rediculous and illogical as is televisually possible.

We're not talking about the science, we're talking about the reversal logic

Ie face sucked off watching TV, I would have thought it would be logical to reattach the face only if they were facing a TV - and not stuck in a warehouse...

Aside that from problem, it was a pretty spiffing episode. The TARDIS is still as inaccurate as ever - especially as they were supposed to have arrived in America...

And has everyone else noticed that the DVD's now contain fewer episodes - and for the same price as the previous series...

I made it in photoshop after I thought that he looked like Mrs Doyle in the last episode 'The Idiot's Lantern' He had his hair puffed up. I could not find the exact match though, there was a particular shot.

Anyway....

A dig at Betamax is not possible being as Betamax was better than VHS.

The reversal process was screwed up.

Supernatural is sold per episode. (Anyway the advert says get episode one now.) Glad I recorded them all. I recorded all of the DR Who as well.

There are some great Wallpapers on here!!! Look at the Episode guide galleries. The Cybermen one is amazing!!!

Well duh - the "Wire" was connected to a giant antenna at the time - of course it could have been used to transmit the faces out again.

I agree. Here is my pennysworth:

1. I can understand the fixation with Wales given that RTD is Welsh. I'm not dissing the Welsh. I like Wales. But Wales is NOT the centre of the universe. The Tardis should stop going to Wales. Lets go to some exciting alien planets. Somewhere else. Not Wales. If you had a machine which could go anywhere and anywhen, would you keep going to Cardiff? I think not, boyo.

2. The character of the Doctor has been elevated into some near-Godlike entity who can deal with anything and does so the moment that Rose is in danger. In fact, the Face of Boe even called him "the Lonely God". God? Please! The original series quite rightly did not have the Doctor as some omni-potent entity - he was a highly intelligent bungler. Thats how it should be.

3. Less plot reliance on the sonic screwdriver. Nuff said.

4. No Time War stuff please. The idea of the Time Lords being defeated by a bunch of tin plated pepper pots is so ridiculous that the less said about it, the better.

5. Bring back the Master. In the 1996 movie he was eaten by the Eye of Harmony in the Tardis. Either bring back an earlier version of him, or get the Tardis to have indigestion or something.

6. Better, more credible, evil enemies. I want a proper evil laugh, improved diabolical masterplans and, well, a white cat.

Cheer if you like bears! Cheer if you like jam sandwiches!

This would be interesting to see. When they said the eye of harmony was in the TARDIS for the telemovie, they introduced a canonicity error, because the eye of harmony is supposed to be on Gallifrey, and is the source of the TARDIS power.

However if they kept it like this, it also explains why the TARDIS can work with Gallifrey being destroyed.

What does everyone think of the Dr who Spin off called Touchwood that the BBC is filming?

Umm... 900 year old man, with time travel machine and a special screw driver that does just about everthing. Yeah, the Doctor would win, definately. Apart from anything else the Dr is british made, British Trumps American without even trying :-p

Personally, and I probably speak for no-one else here, but I think its a waste of time and money (money of which should be being used by Dr Who, especially for the special effects), and possible having a few less "special guests".

No previous spin-off has done well, and I dont see why this one should be any different. It just sounds like a British version of The X Files - to which the reply should be "why" ?

Another spiffingly good episode, although why The Doctor couldn't do an emergency rematerlisation when he found the TARDIS was gone. Probably lost the key, and couldn't start the process.

Must be getting near the end of the series now too

The names Torchwood, not Touchwood you damn pervs.

I really enjoyed the last episode, but was disapointed it ended on such a cliffhanger. Thats the only thing I don't like about watching Doctor Who every saturday night... Cliffhangers make me want more.

Only 5 more epiosdes this season though... After next weeks, we get to see the creature that some 11 year old kid invented. Then another single episode, then the climactic 2 part finale (damn 2 parters).

I wish they'd air it on time in america, I hate having to download it every week...

On a side note, am I the only person happy that Mickey is gone? He annoyed me more then he ever helped the story for me...

I consider the fact that I'd have to spend money to watch it on the sci-fi channel 3 years from now as sort of a justification to download the episodes.

You guys (as in our fine UK members) get it through the airwaves for free, where as I would have to pay an extra 20 bucks a month to get it (in 3 years probably, or maybe never considering its not getting too well of ratings here). I have better things to spend my money on, like cigarettes and energy drinks.

£10.96 a month - which is a lot, for what little decent programming you get. I do think getting the BBC to drop the license free and start carrying adverts is the only way to go for them.

I'd prefer a return to quality TV, actually. Less dreary rl guff and more classic BBC fare - fresh british comedy, world class documentaries, them period dramas that people get so worked up about, and news that doesn't seek to dramatise everything in a US-stylee. (Sorry USers, but your news is very dramatised in places).

@erict: The reason the ratings are so low, is because noone watcvhes sci-fi again until june/july/october (SG, SGA, and Battlestar Galactica), so they get bad ratings. I would have almost never known about doctor who, if I didnt stay up a thursday night until 2am, and saw a commercial about it

Steve... SciFi had so many commercials about that before hand that it isn't funny. If you only recently saw it... I don't know...

You know, if the doctor has a time machine, why would he be sad if someone died? He could just go back and fix it... unless, of course, there is a history I am missing.

haha, I started a thread about it a month ago Merranvo. I dont even watch sci-fi until bsg or sg-1 comes on with new seasons. The commercials I saw were very lame, and I usually just flipped the channel. Point is, Sci-fi is missing out on big viewers by airing this now. Why not wait until the normal sci-fi friday with sg-1 and sga?

Well, the season is almost over... mabey they won't play it after.

As a note, sci-fi has changed the other programs played at that time a hell of a lot of times. I can't actually remember them all, but the only thing that stands is their top shows (originally only SG1, now SG1, SGA and BSG).

What was there before Doc Who?
