You've never seen something like this in FPS Creator!

We made the FIRST animated Water, not something like the Water Segment!
Look at our screenshot.

We made a decal with a water animation. It's transparent and you can change the water heigh.

Soon there will be graphic effects (like Bump and Normalmapping).

But we'll sell it... not for free, it'll cost 5 Euro (5,31 USD; 3,29 GBP)

Actually it's not available. But if you're interested, visit our site: http://www.helixgames.de.vu GERMAN

Just to get you up to date there is animated water available in the animated sprite pack.
That water doesn't look too bad.Are you charging that for just the water?

Why should we pay so much for one thing? I think some one will just make a free one so we dont have to pay for some thing so simple.

This isnt the way to make friends or sales.

We? It took more than one person to make this? I'm just wondering, how long was the development time? Just asking...

okay, i thought about it

it'll be free for non-commercial games and it'll cost about 1 to 5 euros for commercial games.
But you have to write something like "Water by Helix Games" into the credits if it's a non-commercial game.
If anyone uses the water without that in a non-commercial game i wouldn't distribute it again for free.

Commercial games have no restrictions.

Looks good.

However I think it would be hard to monitor who bought it and who didn't - meaning the commercial thing would be useless.

I have just posted some screen shots and a video of water inside FPSC in the Showcase forum under Umans Screen Shots.

You can have a look at those and judge for yourself what might be possible with some little effort. With enough effort anyone can achieve reasonable liquid effects though FPSC methods are not the best or ideal by far. Some situations lend themselves open to achieving better results than others but with the right level design quite good results are possible.

I wont pay that much for water. I fact, I would pay only, if some things float on it and it's shiny, like in HL 2.

Why dont you all make a water decal yourselves or experiment with what you can do with other entity types or segments in achieving it.

I dont understand the holdup? Is it that its just too difficult to do or that you dont want to spend money or just cant be bothered to have a go yourselves? Or all of those?

If you want water to a max standard that FPSC is currently capable of why dont you make one yourself - its not really difficult.

I can understand that it may not be ideal or perfect but what is in FPSC.

I have not got the animated sprite pack as I cant get any of them so have not seen the water decal - installing any packs in my folders with any AI scripts included would result in me exceeding the script limit and my levels would not run. Is the water decal in the pack any good?

I would consider releasing my water set up but as its a work in progress on hold like most other things with me - and knowing what the community here is like it would be more bother than the worth of it with the complaints I would recieve.

Personally I would suggest you wait and see what any update brings and possibly save yourself some hassle if you want something better than is currently possible by doing it yourself or available from forum users.

Currently you are not going to get that HL2 quality water from FPSC as it just dont support the features needed.

if there was a way to texture an animated entity with a decal, I could possibly make som real Kick butt water, but alas no skinning with animated textures.

Disturbing 13,

Aye - just dont have the feature supoprt as yet.

Neither would such an entity do much for the fps currently so any help there would be more than useful.

There is a need for animated water in many instances certainly e.g. river, waterfall and even using the current decal some good effects can be achieved - the quality of animated decal being very much related to the hard work put in in making it as well as overcoming the current speed restrictions.

In many instances of course little or no movement may be required as indoors as FPSC is designed for water could be stagnant and relatively unmoving - still splashing would be nice - eh!

What we will be asking for animated grass next, and wind tunnels - now thats not so hard to do - I can hear you think now.

But seriously - better water simulation can exist now in FPSC than any examples that have currently been seen here. It jsut a matter of effort and some greater thinking power - at least I believe so.

I still have some ideas which will be looked at following any update if TGC make no improvements in this area - otherwsie its back to the drawing board.

Currently whatever can be achieved its just really not going to be quite good enough. FPSC is good in some things but some bad things like badly implimented water decals or entities will stick out like a sore thumb in game.

Best option currently is to use either a decal or an entity with attached decal and make them square at any scale you want then you have a one piece water block. This limits the design if you cant work that in.

Animated textures would solve a lot of problems and such support should be realtively easy for TGC to provide if they have the will and time to provide it - I may be wrong of course.

Have to wait till I get the source I guess - after the update perhaps depending upon what it updates if anything - after we can see whats what. No point in starting and starting again after an update as far as I can see.

I made an animated water decal and while it's not a Piccasso it will work in a pinch.
The animated texture problem is a real pain.
The way I made the decal can make it difficult to place but it's what TGC had to work with.
One of the reasons I bought the sprite pack was for the animated water.
I made the water because everybody was requesting it.
Trust me when I tell you it turned out a lot better than my lightning decal did.
Something that I did before I bought the sprite pack which is always an option is I took a water texture and I used Signs (though Magic FPS will do just about the same thing) and made a floor using the water texture and gave it a water sound.

I dont live that far from a river, so i may go there and get some footage and rip pics from it. flowing water is definitely easy like a river or waterfall, its just that semi still water that's a pain.

Isnt it hard to place the decals right, when the "showmesh" does not look even close to the flat mesh that the water-textures is textured on?
