Hi all, it's been a while since i've posted, anyhow, hope every1's good

Don't know if any's interested in this, but you can download the full versions of Poser 5 (free registeration required) and Bryce 5 until the 4th and 6th sept respectively, so you'd better hurry! Poser 5 servers kinda jammed, so don't play around trying to dload it with your dload manager as i did, it will lock you out for several hours (even thought you can dload it indefinetly!)

Oh, almost forgot! Heres the links

Poser 5: http://www.contentparadise.com/us/user/home.php
Bryce 5: [href]www.daz3d.com/program/bryce/bryce5free.php?&trid=919467712[/href]

Xenocythe their servers are basically crowded, I got as far a 71% on the download (after waiting 2/3 hours because it was a slow rate)

What I would do (when you can) is 'purchase' the free product, take it to the checkout, once the transaction is complete, you have the download ready and the passcode, try to download it as many times as you can (you only get 10 attmepts, so be wise) but you should still have the download if you 'purchased' it before the end date, if not, then thats a rip...

YAY! I've managed to sign up

1nteger:
IIRC there's an option in Poser to render in 8 directions and the next version of SGT have support for 8 directions. And since SGT is 2D you can get some really sweet and high detail graphics with Poser.

I got this when trying to download:

Quote: "Download Limit Reached

Due the the high demand for the Poser 5 free download your download has been delayed temporarily. Please wait several hours before attempting to download again.

We apologize for the inconvenience however your Poser 5 free download will remain available to you through the MyStuff tab indefinitely. "

So there's no hurry once you've "bought" it

BTW, there's a content CD called Hero included. What's that?

Free poser 5? Yay! I've already got Version 4, nothing like a free upgrade is there?

I lay upon my bed one bright clear night, and gazed upon the distant stars far above, then I thought... where the hell is my roof?

I doubt it, it will use the standard serial key checker.
But it may be wise to save your serial key now, in case things go pear shaped and you need to install the software from another source. You will still have your personal key.

I'm d/loading again...only 11 hours, 5 minutes to go at 7.2KB/sec!!!

And it doesn't like download managers either.

[EDIT] Spoke too soon, crashed at 2.5 MB.

This could be one of the biggest marketing screw-ups this site makes.

From the sounds of things I'm the only to nearly finish the download before a computer screws it up. Well I'm gonna try again now.

[Edit] The site is moving quite fast for me now, perhaps this is a good time?

To me at least, this signals that you can still download it for free after the date if you've added it to your cart.

Once you have 'bought' an email will be sent with a direct download link, so no tackling of slow pages after that.

Just in case some people aren't sure, let me re-iterate, you can (according to them) dload after sept 4th if you have already registered and checkout the product (ie, got email, serial num etc).

So in theory, trying tommorow, weds or fri should be fine, just make sure you've got a serial num by 23.59pm today! (might be different time zone mind)

Gonna give a dload a try again after i've restarted, gosh, it's exciting, who well be the first to dload both

Yep, we all wait, bluff it out a little, and then end up trying to dload at the same time anyway resulting in us getting to view our new favourite server message

Yeah, just make people sign up on the site and then download from download.com would have been great. They could then offer the download themselves at a later date. I guess they don't want people to have more then 10 downloads. Don't understand why downloads are limited anyway.

Hmmm. So has anyone actually downloaded this and got it to work? Just interested as it seems noone here has. Slightly cynical at this point.... Oh and if anyone gets it downloaded then put it on a decent site so we can all access it. Considering we all have registered and have serials then this shouldn't be a problem I wouldn't have thought.

Also, Bryce seems to work, but show up in a really small area of the screen (surrounded by black). I mean it's probably 800x600, but on this 1920x1200 display it is tiny. How do you change it? Plus how the hell do you quit the damn thing? Cannot find a quit button, plus it doesn't show in the applications list. It is in processes though and had to kill it there.

Cheers

Ah ok. Still why on earth did they use that method? Not nice. Seems to me is only to make it look slightly nicer. On this display it looks stupid. Which reminds me, where are the options to change the screen size? Serious amount of black space is annoying me.

Will try Poser again.

That was my thoughts. I've searched elsewhere for Poser 5 downloads, and unlockable demo versions, but to no avail. I've also checked my library of cover CDs...nothing

It's funny - 3 days ago I didn't need Poser, now I can't live without it, even though I haven't got it yet!
