Can I ask people to give their personal circumstances on the following, where possible give their first and second preference:

1. Location - Manchester / Leeds. Both have an airport nearby, Manchester being "more international". But will be a £20 - £30 taxi drive. Both are on the M62, Manchester close to the M6 (West) and Leeds close to the M1 (East).

B. Accommodation costs you are happy to pay per night (a convention would likely be Saturday/Sunday, so consider Friday/Saturday, Saturday/Sunday or Friday/Saturday/Sunday.

3. Prive you are prepared to pay for a convention. (previous ones have been £40 - £45 for the 2 days, the price people will pay may determine what can be acheived)

IV. Best Month(s)

E. Transport (ie how close you need to be to buses/trains or whether you will be coming by car)

6. Percentage chance of attending

may bank holiday is fine with me ^_^

1. Location - cheapest and most accessible place ftw.

2. Accommodation costs you are happy to pay per night- £30 max?

3. Price you are prepared to pay for a convention. - ooooooh, if its official, then probably £50

4. Best Month(s) - i like the idea of May bank holiday, other than that, school holiday times are best, but no later than early august.

5. Transport - car depends on if mum can trust me with it for longer than day , else it'll be by train.

5. % chance of attendance - entirely dependant on how many of the criteria above are met.

1. Looking for flights Manchester seems better for me personally.

B. I guess about $75 (whatever that is in pounds, dont have that symbol)

3. Depends on the content, if it is just a bunch of us getting together and coding and a few impromptu talks then $50 I suppose. If it has a more formal schedule of seminars etc then $100

IV. May is right out for me, I would need decent notice 4 months or so to get all the ducks in a row so to speak.

E. I would be coming from the airport so a subway(if they have them), bus etc would be good.

6. depending on the above, but roughly 60%

1. Manchester is preferable for me but Leeds is also no problem

2. £30-50 p/n

3. £40-60 seems acceptable

4. Any time after August is acceptable to me

5. I would be travelling by bus/train

6. If the above is favourable then 90%

A. Manchester or Leeds for me. They are practically next to each other anyway.

2 & 3. If the whole weekend (before spending money) could be covered with £200 then I would be happy.

IV. Not July. I am getting married in Jamaica. I don't think she would accept me postponing the wedding.

Five. Driving.

F. If we are talking about an official con and it's not in July then 100%

Its time for the cartoon Bear to speak words of great wisdom unto men.

Today's words of great wisdom are not particularly great. Or wise. But they are words. So thats 33% of the way there. Here we go:

1. Location: either Manchester or Leeds are equally good for me.

2. Accommodation costs: I don't really care. For the likely sums that we are talking about, money is fortunately not an object.

3. Price: something in line with previous years' convention costs would be fine. The more people who attend the cheaper it will be anyway.

4. Best months: if May, I can do May bank holiday weekend. Any other weekend in May is a no-no. Otherwise, I am generally available for much of the rest of the year.

5. Transport: I drive a pic-a-nic basket with wheels so transport is not a problem.

6. Percentage chance of attending: if you pick a weekend I am not busy (such as the May bank holiday weekend) - probably between 90 to 100%. If you pick a weekend when I'm busy: 0%.

7. Should there be a coding compo? Yes yes yes yes yes yes. This time I certainly intend to defeat the Darthster and Green Gandalf ahahahahahahahahaha.

Really? Well I resent your use (abuse!) of the word "system" to describe your numbering.

Sir, I challenge you ... to a duel!

Oooh, this could be an event of the convention

Guns at dawn anybody?

Nah, its at least 2pm before any of us um... re-emerge.

So it looks like the duel is cancelled . How about a full English instead?

I'd never challenge BatVink to a real duel. He bought me a beer in Chichester a few years ago. For that I am eternally grateful.

If I've was checking this thread before, I would said that montreal would be a nice idea, as it's a place (where people speek english, not only french) where lot of video games are created (and also because its near where I live ) but let's say that if I would come... well... I think I won't, because it cost a lot to go from Quebec to England...

I think the main reason that it's in England is cos most of the TGC team is based there, it's expensive for them all to travel anywhere else.

Yeah I know... It's not everyone that want to give away lot of cash just to go to a convention. Well, I am part of this peoples who will, but I can't, I don't have cash... Well, just too bad

Why don't we hold online conventions?

Go into a chatroom with live video feed of anyone

If you can't slap mnemnemne then it's hardly a convention.

Looking back, I'm not entirely sure why I quoted that.

I would imagine that a few hours travel is actually less work than organising a convention

Pencil me in for next year's convention. I'll be there. And make sure it's close to a bar.

July's good for me too. Failing that, we could always have an unofficial DB convention in my bedroom! You'll have to bring your own alcohol though.

How about Birmingham? Its central England and has an international airport. Failing that, Manchester would be okay (just up the M6) as long as there is decent parking.
Anywhere but London!
