I would probably wouldn't get a good connection to Chicago because I live in Australia which is far away but locally:

Intel Core 2 Duo 6600 2GB DDR2 RAM Radeon X1600 Series Realtek Sound System

Persist and you will succeed.

Just upgraded my home internet, not bad for £18pcm, still tweaking XP settings to get more as the router recons it's got 19mbps available http://www.speedguide.net/downloads.php

Let's see somebody beat that one (without image editing )

[EDIT] Dang, beaten by another Uni above that I didn't see

Why not? The SuperJANET backbone and the actual Internet backbone are not the same thing.

SuperJANET has between 150 MBits and 10GBits (soon to be upgraded to 40) transfer rate between all universities connected via the backbone, and a 100 MBit connection to the Internet via a commercial ISP

I thought of the word 'fatal' myself... Yes, at 999ms the internet is officially dead. Hopefully you don't try and play online games with that ping.

So, take note... here is the current ISP in 1st place in the hall of shame

Robin, I still hold the top downstream rate

OK, home internet just upgraded again to Pro option £22pcm Annex M + Fastpath gives me 2mbps upstream with lower ping

I came across this useful tool TCP Optimizer http://www.speedguide.net/downloads.php to improved your ADSL speed. I was sceptical but it realy works
