Ugh! Don't people hate the kind of geeks who
must have their opinion? Just a little rant.
Yesterday we were running our stall at Freshers' Fair and someone walked over, interested in what our society/club is about and we explained it to him, he seemed interested and then I was asked, "do you like Anne Rice?" I answered with, "yes, I think her early stuff was good, but I didn't like-"
Interrupted as he thought he'd go on about the Twilight series and how awful it is and how it ruins the vampire image yadayada and how terrible the book is, so a friendly person, interested being social with people and yes, she wasn't a bad looking girl either

, she turns around and says, "oh, are you guys talking about Twilight?" To which he goes off on a rant about it, she tries to speak, but she's not allowed to, I tried to speak to level the playing field after all, the books were terribly written and whilst it does seem like a lame version of the vampire, the film really did justice and was well made and interesting and no doubt entertaining for a person interested in teen romance, so who are we to judge and arguably, the 'holes' obviously have worked for the genre, so it's going to be different to Anne Rice, who made Lestat for an older audience, but then even
I wasn't allowed to voice my opinion.
It was tempting to say, "shut-up, this person wants a pleasant conversation about a film she enjoyed and not to have some idiot standing there tearing it to shreds." But I am much too polite for that sort of thing.
Still, I am glad he didn't sign up to my society.
