Nope. Look at Jimmy Savile and Rolf Harris.

I didn't even know there were any... but you'd have to have pretty compelling evidence to make me believe allegations of that sort.

After having used my Logitech G700 gaming mouse for so long, I'll never be able to go to another brand of mouse... that flywheel scrollwheel is so incredibly useful!

Mods are so not asleep! I live in Australia so it's like twenty past three in the afternoon here.

Umm...

What IS this insanity?? It's like the MLP thread couldn't sustain the flood of ponies and they've overflowed into here! The dam has broken! But never fear! Using my Powers of Mod, I push back the flow and hold up the dam!

Seriously though, you've well and truly used up your quota of ponies in the postcomp For the next week from the time of this post, any MLP in the postcomp will be removed instantly (or as soon as I see it). If you wanna keep pushing those ponies, take it back to the MLP thread.

I have removed the PLETHORA of pony images from the last few pages of this thread. Mr. Handy and The Comet have both been banned for a few days, as well as placed on posting restriction for a few days after that.

We have said before, numerous times, that the pony stuff belongs in the pony thread. This is NOT the place for images of cartoon characters with erections growing out of their backsides....or little girl's underwear.

This is the LAST time I/we want to see this problem arise. We will continue targeting individuals; but if it gets too bad, this thread will disappear for good this time.

Have we? Only being fairly new to the postcomp I wasn't aware of this. So we're only allowing small horses in the MLP thread? I'm cool with that.

Oh, erm.... must've missed that bit...

@DJD64 and Dar13:

I've deleted one of your posts each, simply because with the removal of all those ponies you ended up with unfair points-cutting double-posts.

DJD, I deleted the post with "so many lost points" in it.
Dar13, I deleted the post with "PAGE" in it, since you no longer have page.

I'll undelete them if you want me to

Did mr Handy and TheComet really think they would get away with that?

They probably just put all the nails in the coffin for this thread. It's almost like they want it locked, despite stating they would rather it stay open a few pages ago.

In unrelated new, my wisdom teeth seem to be finally coming in. I am in rather a lot of pain at the moment.

In other news, I just finished transcribing (not quite the right word, but I'm tired) my not-yet-online guide to replacement compiling for Android as a Steam guide! Hooray! So yeah COME ON WEEKEND FINISH, TGC needs to upload my new guide to replace the old one so people can actually know how to compile on Windows and Android! (I don't have/use iOS or Mac so couldn't rewrite those guides) Will transcribe Windows guide to Steam some tome soon... should only take half an hour or so...

Ignore poor grammar... so tired... must sleep... must be awake tomorrow because Dragon Age Inquisition will be finished downloading...

The number of nails this thread's coffin has all depends on the patience of the moderators. Clonkex has been invariably patient with this thread, and his patience is the reason that this thread is keeping open. As long as the well behaved users like us can keep showing the mods that there is reason to keep this thread open, it should stay open for a long time.

Also, this goes back to my idea of banning poorly behaving users from this thread. If this thread remains composed solely of mature users, it will have no troubles remaining open indefinitely.

My mouth is also in tremendous pain, if it makes you feel any better. However, not for wisdom teeth. I have these absolutely awful sores covering all of my lower gums, and the pain is getting to excruciating levels. No idea why they are there, and this my 5th day with them

DJD64, sounds like you have canker sores. I get those a LOT and it's freaking awful, since they usually last a week and sometimes even two!

Medicine does very little for them, too, and in fact can make them feel worse. I know exactly what it feels like!

I also have a small canker sore on my lower lip as well as the pain from my wisdom teeth (although they hurt a lot less today than last night!), so my mouth is just a party today

--------------------------------------------------------

As to your idea banning certain users from this thread, I can definitely see that being a solution to the problem of spam-posts (or inappropriate posts), but I'm just not sure how the moderators would enforce it.

The simple fact is, I feel like the thread will end up getting locked in the long run anyway, despite the fight for its continued survival. mr Handy and TheComet just proved that if they have the chance, they can and WILL spam-post as much as they possibly can.

I can definitely see why the mods want to lock this thread, imagine seeing all those posts go through and having to delete each and every one (thank you, KeithC!). It would be a pain in the arse

It's a shame because TheComet is really funny and is very knowledgeable about programming and computers/electronics and if he would just behave we wouldn't be needing to worry about the future of this thread.

Been staying up late? Letting your immune system get run down (by lack of sleep etc) is a sure way to get ulcers and such.

Yeah, I think they are canker sores. And yeah, I am experiencing the same as you! They really are quite stubborn in response to medication of any sort. Two Tylenol is helping to take the edge off, thankfully. They occurred on Wednesday, and right before that, I brushed my gums far harder than normal, mainly to see what would happen. I guess pain is what happens. Lol

So you have a canker sore too? We could be the Canker Sore Bros. Actually that would be a little odd...

Quote: "Been staying up late? Letting your immune system get run down (by lack of sleep etc) is a sure way to get ulcers and such."
Good question. I haven't been getting an ideal amount of sleep, but no major changes have occurred in my amounts of sleep over the past couple months. Occasionally when I get sores somewhere on my body, getting a full night of sleep will get rid of the sores. Last night, I got great sleep, but sadly the sores persist.

Quote: "I'm just not sure how the moderators would enforce it."
My current idea for this would be simply to threaten moderation against any thread-banned user who posts here. However, I can definitely see where such a system would be rather barbaric, since thread-banned users could accidentally post here, and end up getting banned or moderated. At the very least, my system would be a pain for the moderators, and would actually make this thread even more work for the mods. So yeah, maybe my idea isn't all that practical.

I do agree, TheComet is certainly a valuable member, especially for the reasons you listed. I would say a similar thing for MrHandy as well. I can't explain their actions given their overall great personalities, but we all do make mistakes sometimes. Sadly, these mistakes fall on the longevity of epic forum threads sometimes.

I found that using Listerine or some other cleanser like it cleared up my ulcer in my mouth. Hurts like hell the first few times(you do it once in the morning, once at night), but it felt immensely better.

Ah, great suggestion! I have this really crappy mouthwash that hasn't made much of a difference, but maybe something better would help.

I honestly never expected to get this kind of support from a forum for mere mouth sores; I just made small mention of it at first. Thanks everyone, haha!

Another thing to try is warm salt water or Orajel. The salt water would probably sting as well, but the orajel should numb just about anything it touches.

I still need to try salt water. We have some benzocaine topical stuff, and it's pretty good at numbing things. Sadly, it tastes horrible, and I tend to drool when my tongue is numb.

That is my aim firstly. I think most of the other members here know where the line is. It's actually not that much work to take care of a few problem members....or even allow them to see the errors of their way, and move on. Time will tell.

Yes, but not a whole lot to do with arrays honestly. And it's been a while since I've programmed in TGC's version of BASIC, however I'm finding it to be super, super easy and FAST. I love it.

I've already found a lot of examples of storing map data with 2D arrays, so it really will be easy to implement. However I'm not going to do it in this example because I want to perfect the undo/redo functions and make them very expandable so that it can be used for anything, not just a tile map editor.

EDIT: Holy amount of snow, Batman!

I live in Wisconsin and it's snowing something fierce at the moment. I was shoveling the driveway to dig our car out so that my mom could go pick up a brand new dog from the pound (we're getting a pitbull! ), and it took me half an hour and it was covered in snow again.

This next part needs a backstory so here it is.

For the last two weeks or so, our idiot mailman has been parking IN FRONT OF OUR DRIVEWAY, causing me, my father and my sister to all be late to work at one point or another. He gets out of his truck to deliver mail to three surrounding houses, and it takes him five or ten minutes. Last week he parked there while I was on my way home from work, causing me to wait almost 5 minutes for him to return. He looked at me and acted irritated at me.

So anyway, as I was out shoveling, he parks in front of our driveway again. I asked him, very politely, to please not do that anymore. He imeediately took a tone with me and said "Well what're you gonna do about it, kid?", and I just said that I was simply asking him not to do it anymore, please and thank you. Then he said that I was crazy and he was going to call the cops. I said "Seriously? How about I call the post office on you? Want me to do that?" and I walked around to try to get his number on the truck but it was blocked by snow. He then said something like "You're crazy, while you call the post office or the police or whatever I will wait right here!", and then sunk his feet into the snow. I just laughed and said "No, you're going to move your vehicle as my family is getting ready to leave, thank you", and went off to finish shoveling, and he just kept standing there. I told him once more, to move his vehicle, and he finally left, uttering profanities at me, threatening to not deliver our mail anymore and calling me crazy, so I shouted after him "You're an @$$hole!", and finished shoveling. I come inside, look up the post office number, and place a call. Turns out, I'm not the first person to call about him today! He's been parking in front of driveways all morning and being jerks to other people as well, blocking them in or out. When I told his supervisor what had happened this morning, she said they had been getting complaints for almost a whole week now. He's been warned many times and she said they would talk to him about again today after his shift. She said if there were anymore problems to give her a call and gave me her direct extension number.

Justice is served, Idiot Mailman! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Now I'm going to shower before work

I have this odd ability, where I can see a picture of a person, and know exactly what they sound like. I have seen a couple pictures Yoda has posted here, and the video confirmed my prediction of how he sounded.

I hear that US Post Office workers can go a little crazy sometimes. I don't think I know a single person who hasn't referred to their mailman as their 'idiot mailman' at some point or another. Must be a boring job; gotta find some way to get the adrenaline pumping.

Really?? Wow, even up on the Northern Tablelands (which are generally pretty cool) it's stinking hot in Australia! I've got my aircon on just so I don't melt into my chair

What do you hate about it? It's technically and aesthetically superior to all other operating systems.
